Three problems related to headlights turn off while driving have been reported for the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The headlights failed due to the totally integrated power module (tipm). Research reveals that the tipm failed on many of the Dodge vehicles. This system failure is a safety hazard.
Five pin trailer electrical connection corrodes w cap cover in place. The turn signals, head lights, wipers, brake lights, back up lights, interior lights, dash instruments will not operate correctly. Head lights may not turn off. Dealer cut connection five pin off, put electrical tape on the exposed wire ends. Would have required to replace the entire wire harness. Repaired, the connection with a new spliced 5 pin connection purchased from a locl hardware store.
The tipm module failed and left headlight went out at night. Repair shop did temporary bypass left side tipm output for low beam. Headlights failed completely on both sides, high beam and low beam in August 2014. Replaced tipm assembly on 9/19/14, $924. 99 for parts and $112. 50 for labor.
