The contact stated that the side walls of the front passenger, front driver and rear driver's side tires were cracking, peeling and becoming dry rotten. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The tires were not replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 500. The vehicle failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with michelin - radial x tires, size p265/70/r17. The contact stated during routine maintenance at a local repair facility she was advised that all of the tires including the spare side walls were severely cracked. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who confirmed the diagnosis and stated that the tires needed to replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but only offered a discount for the tire replacements. The tires were not replaced. The failure and current mileage was 45,000. Updated 07/21/11 the consumer stated three separate tire stores informed her the tires were unsafe and subject to blow out.
