The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the automatic transmission decelerated as he downshifted between fifth and four gear. While driving 42 mph, the transmission appeared to disengage when shifted into neutral and the vehicle coasted when he released the brake pedal. He stated that the transmission automatically re-engaged at 30 mph. When manually shifting from first to fifth gear, the transmission operates normally, however, it fails to function automatically. He took the vehicle to the dealer for it to be test driven. The dealer acknowledged the failure and advised him to call NHTSA. The current and failure mileages were 3,855. Updated 12-12-07. When the consumer lifted his foot off of the accelerator to slow down, the transmission downshifted and decelerated the consumer stated it felt as though the vehicle was free-wheeling. Updated.
