The vehical was being reapired at a dealer and it has been in 3 times to 3 diffent dealers to fix a check gauge light and they have not been able to reapir it. I also boguht in for the tie rod recall inspection and was told the vehical did not have a defective part. I dont belive them since they have not been a honest dealer. The truck is part of the main recall but I was told though Dodge that its not being covered because they fixed the truck which I dont believe happened. I dont feel safe driving the truck with all the issues with Dodge. I also just had the turbo replaced and now im getting desiel fumes coming into the truck. Dodge is not willing and will not work with me to get these issues resloved.

Chrysler issued a safety recall for a possible left tie rod ball stud failure. The recall notice says to call for an appointment so the parts can be ordered prior to the appointment. When I arrived for my appointment I was told that Chrysler only sends them only one part per month, and they have hundreds of recalls. When I asked if it was safe to drive, their answer was , it should be. I have not heard from them since. That was 2 months ago. I feel some action needs to be taken against Chrysler to see that the parts are made available to the dealerships. This is for recall notice # n49 / NHTSA 13v-529.

Chrysler safety recall n49/NHTSA 13v-329. I received this notice on Jan 6, 2014. The stated problem is "the left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. " I contacted my dealer on Jan 7, 2014 to schedule a service appointment to make this repair. I was put on as waiting list due to a low supply of replacement parts available from Chrysler. It is now may 28(5 months later), and still do not know when this repair will be made. My question to you is, do you have data which somehow establishes a likelihood of this event happening?.
Received a recall notice for left tie rod ball stud in January. I contacted the dealership and they said it will be a couple of weeks for the part to come. It is now the end of may and my vehicle has not been fixed.
I had received a recall letter from Chrysler (n49 / NHTSA 13v-529) back in January and I had contacted my dealership (carl burger's Dodge in la mesa, CA 91942) shortly after receiving the letter. I was told that my name was added to a list and that they would contact me after the parts had arrived to replace the left tie rod ball stud on my truck. In may, I sent the dealership an email requesting an approximation for the recall work to be performed. I outlined an upcoming trip that I needed to drive my truck on and I never got a response. I called the dealership in June and was told that my name was still on the list but that I am number 147 and that Chrysler was only shipping them (1) tie rod per week. I have an out of state trip planned for the end of August and I have serious concerns due to some clunking that I am feeling in the steering wheel that this tie rod could possibly fail. Last week I received the same recall letter from Chrysler. I am not sure what more I can do? thank you, tim schaeffer.

I received a notice of safety recall in November or December 2013 and was informed I needed to call the dealership beginning January 6, 2014. It is now November 5, 2014 and I am just now having the repair done. As a result of this extreme delay I was unable to use my truck to tow my boat out of storage and thus incurred a $750. 00 charge. I contacted the dealership numerous times over the past year and was informed each time they would call me for an appointment which never happened. I had one appointment cancelled because they had run out of replacement parts. I am due reimbursement of the storage charge of $750. 00 because I was unable to tow my boat out of storage. I can send the receipt for the storage charge and the work order when the tie rod was replaced for documentation of this outlandish situation.

Was at home, backing out of drive way,, the driver side tie rod fell off! could not get a tow truck inside my drive to take to the dealership to get fixed. So I got a buddy to help me remove the old tie rod end and replace it with a moog tie rod end. Had it realigned. My complaint is Dodge won't reimburse me for the parts and labor. Dodge supposedly checked this out 3-27-12 at bill hodges Dodge in vinita, ok. They did a measurement and decided it was ok. Well not so!, it broke in my drive way backing straight back. What if I had been driving down the turnpike 75 mph? if it needs checked on a recall it needs to be replaced!!!!.
Backing up horse trailer and tie rod end broke completely off driver side. Vehicle was inspected on 3/12/12 per recall but nothing was done. Its a shame dealers are sending you off with steering components that are not safe.

Hi, I took my truck to sears to have the tires rotated and the steering checked because I had started to feel crow hopping when making slow turns. When they removed the front tires they checked to find what was creating the crow hopping as I had requested. They found that the cv joint on the drivers side was not working as it should, and upon removing it they also found that the ball joints were bad. At this point I had sears do the work because of safety concerns. They repaired the problem and so far the crow hopping seems to have gone away. I now understand that there has been a NHTSA campaign id#11v350000 . I have owned this vehicle since it was new ,but have never gotten a recall notice on this problem. I have contacted Dodge and talked to customer service about re-imbursment and was told that there was nothing they could do because the parts replaced where not mopar and possibly because the work was not done at Dodge. I think this is not right because I did not get a notice and I was not taking the truck until it was safe to do so.
2009 Dodge ram. Consumer writes in regards to recall l16. Concerning fracture on the left tie rod end the consumer stated the service dept informed him, in order to check for a fracture, it would need to be done with an ultrasonic detector and a transducer or some type of dye. The consumer stated in his opinion, the recall has not been resolved.
Drivers side (short) tie rod end fractured while plowing 1" snow in parking lot. Going straight forward, heard a clunk, then lost control of vehicle and stopped with plow in snow pile. In hindsight, this is a very scary failure and it is difficult to imagine a better outcome. Dealer fixed as a warranty claim and claims that the truck is not part of your investigation/recall for a very similar failure, making me wonder if there is a broader problem here. I tried to get the broken part, but the dealer would not provide it. No injuries or damage, but extremely inconvenient repair that cost me time, money and effort to hand shovel. Plus my wife's time off work. Best wishes, hope this helps make a safer vehicle.

Drivers side tie rod end broke at joint. I was backing out of a parking spot and started to turn the wheel and it broke. I was towed under warranty and the part was replaced, but they did not cover it under warranty because of my larger tires. I am a member of many internet forums and this is happening to too many trucks. Stock or modified trucks it does not matter there is a problem with the part itself or the geometery of the steering. This is dangerous and somebody is going to get severely hurt or killed if this is not addressed soon!.

The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted who offered to file a complaint and stated they would be calling him back with additional information. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage 15,000 and the current mileage was 25,490.
I just purchased a 2009 Dodge ram power wagon 2500. I've been driving it for about 10-14 days now. (this is my 7th ram!) I immediately noticed a different feel in the steering wheel. When driving straight in the "12 o'clock" position, the steering wheel feels as though it not even connected to the wheels! there's no feeling of tension on the steering wheel, feeling as if the truck is driving on its own. Then, when hitting a bump, the wheels want to jump in one direction, causing you to have to counter steer to regain tension on the steering wheel to enable you to control the wheels, and sometimes nearly causing you to loose control! for a truck of this caliber (and price!), the steering should feel definite and constant. My dealership performed service (March 12, 2009) to the tie rods due to a recent recall. Didn't seem to make a difference at all. There has to be another issue or problem going on here.
