general problems of the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500

Nine problems related to electrical system have been reported for the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2015

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle caught fire which initiated under the hood. The fire department extinguished the fire out on the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the fire was unknown. Prior to the failure, the vehicle displayed an error message stating to check the fuel system. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 25,000.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2015

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the air conditioning system emitted a loud abnormal noise and failed to activate. The failure occurred on a daily basis. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the diverter box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000. The VIN was not available.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the diesel exhaust fluid warning light and a warning message advising the contact to see the dealer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the temperature gauge on the driver¿s side mirror failed to operate in colder temperatures. The dealer diagnosed that the temperature sensor failed and made the necessary repairs. However, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2014

I was in a left turn lane waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before commiting to my turn at a stop. I gradually depressed the accelerator to make the left turn. The truck rolled forward at a rate of about 1mph. With oncoming traffic approaching, I then fully depressed the accelerator pedal with no results. There was no change in rpm, no change in acceleration, or speed for an estimated 3 seconds. The truck then slowly accelerated and I narrowly missed being t-boned by oncoming traffic. This unsafe condition will also happen during highway speeds after returning the pedal to the idle position and then accelerating to pass traffic or enter another lane. I have lost 10-20mph at highway speeds with my foot fully depressing the pedal. There seems to be a total disconnect at times between the accelerator pedal position and engine rpm's/power. I would estimate the occurrence of this issue at 10-15% of accelerator inputs. The truck now has just over 9,000 miles and this has happened numerous times, some nearly causing an accident.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

While driving the vehicle I needed to change lanes and speed up. A vehicle was to my right and infront of me. I had to let off the throttle for a second to let the vehicle next to me pass. As I pressed the throttle to accelerate and pass the vehicle in front of me there was no response from the vehicle. There was at least a two second delay before the vehicle started accelerating. This has happened several times. Sometimes from a stop when trying to turn into traffic. Other times while moving. It seems to happen when the accelerator pedal is depressed and then pressed again within a short period of time.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2014

1. Check engine light came on 4 sept 2014 brought it to dealership they cleared the code and gave me the truck back because the code did not return while it was in their possession. 2. This same issure has occured 4 more times since that date and the problem has not be resolved, each time they did something different, ie replaced a dosing unit, replaced the nox sensor and now as of 15 oct 2014 are preparing to replace the ecm or brains of the truck. The truck has been in the more than in my possession for the same exact problem since 5 sept 2014. 3. Vehicle has vibration between 60 to 80 mph, has been back to the dealership on the day I purchased and also multiple times after that, and problem still has not been corrected by ram. 3 tires have been replaced and now the service manager says "it operates as designed", although the manager also states that he feels the wobble/vibration between those speeds as well. 4. I have begun the lemon law process and have received a claim number but Chrysler has not yet called me back.

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tpms does not allow setting tire pressures to the recommended tire setting from the tire manufacturer without triggering warning light and nag screen on startup. Constant warning light and nag screen correction will lead to driver complacency, negating the purpose of tpms alerting the driver to a potential problem with the tires. Tpms required over inflation results in potential loss of vehicle control due to loss of traction. Abnormal tire wear due to tire over inflation increases risk of hydroplaning and loss of control of vehicle. Ram customer service has been contacted and confirmed that this problem is systemic, by design, and can not be corrected at present time. Potential fix is to reprogram bcm, allowing dealers to reset tpms to appropriate setting for tires and actual load with appropriate documentation.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a voluntary manufacturer recall. The vehicle was repaired under the recall but the failure recurred multiple times. The contact also mentioned that the dealer replaced the rf module twice and reprogrammed the sensor five times. The remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 273.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2013

While traveling on an interstate highway at approximately 70 mph with the cruise control engaged, I shifted in my seat and my knee hit the key fob and the car's ignition turned off. Fortunately, there were no other vehicles around me and I was able to coast to a stop and re-start the vehicle.
