Unknown Or Other problem #1

I purchased the truck with 124,000 miles and noticed the dash was cracked on my drive from tennessee back to florida. It makes noise, looks like crap, and keeps me from setting anything on the dash board. This is something that is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy common on Dodges, if not a right of passage. They need to address the issues and step up and take care of Dodge owners. Dodge, you were cheap on the manufacturing, now you need to make it right.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Well have you heard of the "death wobble!!!?????" google this and it will tell you exactly! my husbands truck hops at 70 mph on the freeway almost causing a huge accident! why the hell after all the complaints nothing has been done with this issue! thousands of people are talking about this online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

There was an existing TSB on these year trucks stalling while turning well mine does it. This problem happens between 35-45 mph while braking in to a turn maneuver and stall leaving me with no steering or brakes. I feel this is very dangerous and needs to be addressed further with Chrysler/Dodge to be fixed.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Heading to town to take 2008 Dodge ram to the dealership to have looked at for stalling at idle and no foot pedal response. Shut truck off and restarted now I have throttle. . Anyways headed to dealership to have these thing looked at. Im on the interstate cruise control set at 70mph. I go over a slight dip on the interstate than experience what feels like two blown front tires. The entire truck is shaking vioently. Its all I can do to hold onto the steering wheel. The truck feels like its going to fall apart. I get on the brakes start pulling to the side of the road at about 10miles an hour this violent vibration stops. This incident was the scariest incident ive been through. I inspected the truck nothing visible wrong so I continued on to dealership with no problems. . 15 minutes later I stopped shaking. Told service man at dealership what just happened and he says OH you just experienced the death wobble. . Are you serious they have a nickname for this and are still selling these vehicles at 40,000 a piece. I refused to sign the work agreement and left the truck there. I will not pay to have this truck fixed. This vehicle is a serious danger to the driver, passengers and any other vehicles on the road. After research I found many other inncidents of what I have described. Go to youtube and type Dodge death wobble. Vehicle manufactures should be responsible for there product. Concerned and productive united states citizen. .

Unknown Or Other problem #5

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500,as of this evening I had all the major steering components replaced, at a cost of nearly $2500. 00 to solve what is commomly known as the Dodge death wobble, the first expansion joint in the road, after I pick my truck up, caused my truck to shake violently, and nearly out of control again. This is not the first time this has happened, Dodge wont admit that there is a problem and keeps selling me replacement parts without any resolve. The violent shaking contiues. I can not even contemplate selling this vehicle because my concience wont allow me to put another persons safety in jeoprody please help us!!! Dodge won't!!!!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

All 4 power door lock actuators failed within 60 days.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Truck gets a severe wobble when it goes over rough spot in road and the wobble is so severe that it is all a person can do to hang on without wrecking to get the truck slowed and stopped.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

It will not shift out of park and then after many trys it works fine. It does not happen everytime I start the truck.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

I was I-77 in wv and hit a bridge expansion joint at approx. 70 m. P. H. The truck front suspension began to shake violently. The front tires and steering wheel began to shake/bounce uncontrollably. It did this for aprox 20 sec. While I tried to stop the truck slowly and safely. Internet research revealed this is a common problem with Dodge 2500 pickups. It has been given the name ã‚death wobbleã‚쳜. I returned it to the dealer where they deny any knowledge of the problem and after inspection determined that the incident busted both front shocks and stabilizer bar. It was not covered by factory or extended warranty. I had 2 new shocks & stabilizer installed and the front end re-inspected and serviced, lined and balanced the tires as directed by dealer insp. Results. I drove less than 10 miles and the truck done the ã‚death wobbleã‚쳜 again. They now suggest the tracking bar failure but state that the whole front suspension may be damaged due to a poor design and the violent vibration that occurred during the incidents. Again the warranties are refusing coverage. The techs refused to release the truck back to me to drive for safety reasons. They feel it is not safe to operate in this condition. This truck remains in stock condition. Installing 285/70/16 tires 10 ply tires for safety concerns. The stock tires were too small for an 8000 lbs. Pickup that tows occasionally. Due to the seriously neglected safety concern by Dodge, I will be trading this truck off when I get it fixed. Dodge knows there is problems please ã‚step upã‚쳜 and make them address this issue before someone get hurt or killed.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Upon removal of dashboard to replace heater and evaporator cores while removing the dashboard it crumbled into dust the dash had no visible cracks until view from below seeing about 200+ cracks from dashboard becoming brittle from being improperly made, this occurs with all Dodge ram dashboards from years 94-98. 5 and yet no recall has been made, had this dash shattered while driving or in a crash I could have had lots of sharp plastic cuts from the shattered dashboard but it seems that the NHTSA doesn't respond to the amount of people submitting the same problem. Cost to replace dash is $600 from dealer with the same dashboard that will last approx 3 years according to dealership.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

Recently I noticed that the dash had cracked on the passenger side. It was not very noticeable from the driver's side and a passenger pointed it out. Since first noticed, the crack (tear) has continued to grow. Other than the crack in the dash, the truck looks brand new.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Traveling about 65 mph on I-10 hitting a small bump in the road caused my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500hd 4x4 diesel to shake so violently I thought my break caliper had broken free of its mount. Hitting the breaks only prolonged the violent shaking. I had taken it to my local Dodge dealer and was told my drive shaft had to be replaced. I had it replaced and the shaking repeated. I took it back to the dealer and was told that it was a broken cord in one of my tires and that I needed new tires. Those were replaced with michelins. Again the shaking accrued. At this point I lost faith in my local Dodge dealer. I took my truck to a local mechanic and he told me that this was a common occurrence and I had to purchase a Dodge upgrade kit to fix the problem. 4,000 dollars later my truck was fixed and I have not had any issues in 10,000 miles. When I asked my local Dodge dealer about a recall or warranty work, I was told that it is normal wear and tear and that there were no safety concerns with this issue. On an average day with an average driver someone is going to be killed if Dodge does not issue an across the board recall. The cause of this problem, known as the Dodge death wobble, is due to the fact that lesser grade parts were used to support a steering that requires more support. Case in point; the Dodge upgrade kit comes with components that are of a higher quality, size and weight to better support the steering system.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

The integrated trailer brake controller failed to adequately activate the brakes on my 24' pj flatbed trailer.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

I'm the first owner of this vehicle and the dash started cracking at 65,000 miles. So far there are 5 different cracks.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

Dashboard started to crack a few months ago, just hairline cracks at first. Now there are long cracks everywhere & the dashboard may fall in & disrupt whatever electric circuits are underneath. Local Dodge dealer wouldn't take action unless I paid for it. He said "don't use armourall" which I don't. Dodge customer assistance was no help either. There appears to be something wrong with the materials used to manufacture the dashboard. The cracks continue to expand. Afraid to drive it!.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Went to Dodge dealership for routine tire rotation and alignment and they informed me that I needed all 4 ball joints replaced at only 62,833 miles to the cost of $3,000 (no mention of a possible defect) doing research on the replacement of these ball joints I found the complaints and decided to file one as well. This definately poses a danger to my family as well as others who may not be aware of the possible defect.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

2002 Dodge dashboard is completely failed. Falling in and creating sharp objects in behind dash and on floorboards. Pulled a sharp shard of plastic from my sons mouth 2 days ago that I had missed from the floor board. The plastic made his mouth bleed. I'm very glad he didn't try to swallow it. I hope others are aware of this and keep the small objects from the children also!! Dodge needs to fix this saftey problem. Not to mention what all those plasitc shards would do in an high speed impact scenario. Please let's get this problem fixed with all new reliable safe material. Dodge offered me a free dash the last time I called them however they wanted me to pay for labor. The product I asked is the exact same and has not been updated. I'm not paying for this to just happen again even if it is for labor only. It also suggests they know it is a severe problem or they wouldn' t have offered that to me. (related vehicle information: model year=2002, make=Dodge, model=ram 2500).

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Bought 2010 Ram 2500 diesel new and had to take to dealer to this point 5 times for check engine light illuminated. The truck has currently 16,338 miles and is returning to dealer tomorrow for another check engine light. Each time the light is in relation to the emission system. The dealer under warranty has changed the O2 sensors, cleaned the egr valve and states they may have to change the O2 sensor controller. I've also posted on this site about a major steering wobble to which the dealer changed a lot of front steering components. This truck design has a lot of history of major design flaws. I'm strongly considering filing a lemon law suit.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I own a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. The dash board has one large crack/hole and multiple little cracks throuout from the drivers side to the passenger side, and front to back. The plastic is brittle and I am concerned that during a crash the pieces will become projectiles and shards that could punture airbags and people causing serious injury. I checked into replacing the part only to find that this is a problem with many of the truck lines of Dodge from 1998 through 2006 and the replacements are of the same material and would be prone to crack in short time just as the original dases had. As a former firefighter having responded to many accidents I see this as a time bomb to a death that is not neccessary if it hasn't already happened. The dash, I thought, was supposed to remain flexible for the deployment of airbags but instead will be shattered by the airbag deployment and be blown right into the face of the very person they were supposed to protect causing in all likelyhood severe injuries.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

Vehicle is parked in a covered car port to keep the sun off, but the dash top still managed to crack a few years back. Now there is no dash top at all since it has fallen apart. While I was driving, the clips holding the bezel in place popped out since they clip into the dash top, which is no longer there, leaving the bezel to fall right off.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

Dodge Ram 2500 "death wobble".

Unknown Or Other problem #22

The dash of my 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 has cracked and large pieces have broken and fallen inside exposing the wiring and could become a potential hazard in the event of an accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

Top of dash cracked so bad pieces are falling out. If we were to get into a head on collision, these pieces of broken plastic would turn into shrapnel. If I knew about this site sooner I would of certainly brought it to your attention. I'm not alone in this problem, or that it was caused by the sun, armoral, etc. Compiled over 1,500 other people on Dodge ram forums, car complaints, and other such internet sites with the same problem, and no recall from Dodge to fix this problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

Dash pad is cracked all to pieces. Sharp pieces are coming off and could potentially be dangerous. This is a safety concern and Dodge should recall this.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

H. V. A. C. Controls start to go out, then go out completely. The part that fails is the blend doors. This causes a loss of temperature control, directional, and or power control. When the h. V. A. C. Is not working correctly, the windshield and side windows can fog up obstructing the driver's view. The whole problem is due to a plastic part working against a metal part, that causes failure of the plastic tabs.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

My 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 has a violent shake in the front end when traveling at speeds of 55mph or more when hitting a bump or pothole. When the violent shaking begins, the vehicle is uncontrollable until the vehicle is slowed down considerably. I have taken the vehicle to two mechanics who have not been able to correct the problem. They have changed the steering damper and the shocks, and checked the whole front end. They could find no problems, and it is still happening. According to research on the internet, many other Dodge owners are having the same problem and have been for years. Dodge needs to do something about this before someone gets injured or killed. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

Turn signal does not operate correctly--when you turn on the left signal it will switch from the left and right intermediatly--at first only happend now and then--now it happens every time and the turn signal does not click any more either.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

While driving my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins diesel if I hit an oblique bump in the road the truck starts shaking side to side so violently that I feel like the doors will come of. It has happened about 20 to 30 times and when it happens I have to bring the truck to a complete stop in the middle of freeway or road before I can drive again. I have contacted Chrysler and after many phone calls they have agreed to pay for a fix, the problem is the local dealer tells me if they do the repair Chrysler will not reimburse them. It seems as they are playing games with me. My truck has only 70,000 miles and dealer says the wear on the front end seems like on 90,000 miles truck. I have replaced the steering dampener at about 30,000 miles and have not seen any difference.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

Dash board has cracked and now caving in showing all of the inside componets. Hope the sun won't melt the wires.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

Dodge Ram 2500 dashboard is cracked in several places. The main crack is on the passenger side right by the airbag. There are several other cracks throughout the dashboard.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

All Dodge ram from 2000-2005 have dash problems. They break and fall apart. They cost around $1500-1800 to get them replaced. They dont tell you when you buy it. So why does the NHTSA not do anything about it. If you have wreck and the airbags deploy, there are sharp edges in between you and the bags. They will cut your face, arms, or worse kill you. Is it going to take innocent people getting murdered by Dodge negligence for somebody to do something. They are defective. Make Dodge recall the dash and install a new safer one. I do not want people to be killed, including myself and family.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

Dash has completely caved in, started cracking and continued to until whole top is gone.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

Dashboard has cracked in four places. Found last summer.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

Dash cracking. Presently no issues other than cracked dash, however, speed at which dash is deteriorating could lead to electrical failures, as has happened to several other owners of this make vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #35

Dash has cracked from windshield to top of airbag, passenger side left of airbag. Now hole in top of dash the size of golf ball and dash constantly creeks and pops while driving.

Unknown Or Other problem #36

1999 Dodge 2500 dashboard falling apart big cracks and pieces falling in.

Unknown Or Other problem #37

The dashboard on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 began to crack, now there are several cracks in the dash. This vehicle is in a heated garage most of the time and the windows are open when in the garage during the summer and winter. The vehicle is well cared for and clean, I see no reason for this to have occurred. There are several cracks now across the dashboard on the top part.

Unknown Or Other problem #38

Noticed large crack on dashboard, then covered dash with a dash mat and started noticing multiple cracks.

Unknown Or Other problem #39

The grab handles on the passenger and driver sides both break too easily. These handles are dangerous to use.

Unknown Or Other problem #40

The dash has broken into several pieces (this is a serious safety issue) and is no longer intact or attached to the mounting areas. It started with one little crack and then larger pieces began breaking free. The edges are very sharp and will cut you. Upon any kind of impact to the vehicle, pieces will fly into the eyes, face, body and the driver or occupants will be injured. This is a serious safety issue. The truck is not safe to operate/drive with the dash in this condition.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

Driving in freezing fog and defrost would not work. It does not work any of the time. Saw dealership who refused to fix defrost even though it has been known since 2003 that the defrost in the Dodge 2003 pickup has a faulty component.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

My dash is cracking and large sharp peices of it are just laying on the dash, it seems to get worse every time I look at it. I am worried those peices will fly up and into my face or my childres face while driving down the road. The only thing I can think of to do is try to glue them back down. Even so it continues to crack and what if I dont katch a new cracked peice and it does hurt someone.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

I was driving on a four lane highway at 65-70mph. I heard a loud "snap" noise and notice the dashboard on the passanger side had a 8-12" crack on the top and about a 4-7" on the front, directly in the area of the passanger air bag. This can not be safe! it also displays some poor integrity of construction and/or materials used. Since the incident, the dash has continued to crack and split further. The Dodge dealership turned me away and explained it "wasnt their problem". . . .

Unknown Or Other problem #44

My 2002 Dodge ram dash is falling apart. It is a two part dash, with both parts cracked apart and getting worse. Now a piece is inside the dash system over the steering wheel. This seems to be a well known problem as when I went to the local Dodge dealership and showed the issue to the parts representative, he indicated that he knew all about this issue. Replacement parts are close to $400 for each part, or almost $800 for both defective dash parts, not counting the labor for removing the dash to remove the bad parts and install new ones. I am concerned about dash pieces falling inside the dash and causing electrical problems that may affect a safe drive.

Unknown Or Other problem #45

Dash cracked and falling apart. Started with one crack and now have multiple cracks and is falling apart. Pieces may cause injury in the event of an accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #46

Dashboard cracked for no reason on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500.

Unknown Or Other problem #47

Called for an appointment to take care of a serious recall (could cause fire) and was told it would be 2 weeks before parts were available. So just in case I die in a fire in the next 2 weeks, I wanted to have this on file.

Unknown Or Other problem #48

Dash pad on top of dash started cracking into pieces. Could be dangerous in a crash or air bag deployment.

Unknown Or Other problem #49

The plastic dash cracked resulting in the air conditioner and defroster not operating correctly. Pieces of foam are coming out of the a/c registers and blowing into my face almost hitting me in the eye on occasion. The plastic dash is obviously made of defective material. I have never seen a dash crack into pieces this badly.

Unknown Or Other problem #50

Dash started cracking around 65,000 miles and keeps cracking. The cracks have caused the dash to separate causing the defroster vents not to blow correctly across windshield ( will not defrost). Dash is starting to drop down in different areas which may cause electrical failures or electrical fire. Truck is in pristine condition ( other than dash) with only 80,000 miles.

Unknown Or Other problem #51

Dash started cracking and has gotten worse over time and now the dash is breaking into sharp pieces and falling down behind dash which is rubbing against electrical wires behind dash console.

Unknown Or Other problem #52

I have a 1997 Dodge 2500 Dodge ram pickup. The dashboard began cracking in 2008. The problem began as hair line cracks at the base of the winshield. Over the past two years the dashboard has increasingly gotten worse. Now the entire dash has cracked with large gaping holes. A section approximately 6" x 11" has completely broken loose and is lying inside the panel. Many of the other segments have cracked and seperated creating knife like points. The failure of the dash creates a safety concern during a collision as well as a fire hazard due to wiring becoming exposed to the sunlight.

Unknown Or Other problem #53

I have a 1999 2500 Dodge and the dash is coming apart ibought this truck used 3 years ago.

Unknown Or Other problem #54

Dashboard on truck is cracking. The cracks form extremely sharp edges and dagger shapes which would cut vehicle occupants in the event of an accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #55

1997 Dodge Ram 2500 with dash disintegration. I believe the material used in this part to be defective and now poses safety issues!.

Unknown Or Other problem #56

Dash cracking and falling into pieces, smaller pieces fall into the defrost ducts and become flying projectiles when fan is on high. 1 minor injury near the right eye, laceration, did not require medical treatment.

Unknown Or Other problem #57

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact noticed two long cracks on the dashboard above the instrument panel. The dealer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and they refused to repair it. The contact felt that this was a manufacturers defect. The current and failure mileages were 87,000.

Unknown Or Other problem #58

2002 Dodge Ram 2500, dashboard cracking, collapsing.

Unknown Or Other problem #59

I have a cracked dash on my truck and I am concerned that this will become a safety issue. The vehicle is well taken care of and it makes the vehicle appear cheap and poorly manufactured. I will need to replace my dash as it continues to get worse, I am concerned that it will effect airbag deployment in a crash.

Unknown Or Other problem #60

Dashboard began cracking on 2001 Dodge ram truck in late 2007. It has now completely desintegrated and large pieces have come loose and fallen behind the dash. I'm truly concerned that the loose dashboard pieces could cause a malfunction of electrical or mechanical systems of the vehicle making it unsafe to drive. Tt.

Unknown Or Other problem #61

I was manuvering in a parking lot backing up and bumped into a lift gate on a truck then part of dash top came off and fell into lap ,later complete dash bezel fell off while going down road I had to grab before it got tangled up in steering wheel ,now there are cracks all in dash and glove bok dash seems like its gonna fall apart I tried to get dealership that I purchased from to repair but they wouldnt do anything and have since closed this is a very dangerous situation I paid 40k for a truck that is falling apart Dodge/Chrysler should fix this and make it right very good truck otherwise.

Unknown Or Other problem #62

Dash board cracked leading to a crack in my windshield. I went out to my truck on the 4th of July and found that my windshield had a crack in it, upon further inspection I found that the dashboard was cracked in about 4 places. I have recently found a number of reports on the internet about dashboard failure.

Unknown Or Other problem #63

The dash is severely cracked. This is happening to several Dodge ram's of the 2001 year that I know of. It is a dangerous situation, with the possibility of the broken dash falling downward and possibly damaging wiring, or even getting stuck on the gas pedal, potentially causing a serious accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #64

I have a 2001 Dodge ram and the dashboard has many cracks in it. My local news had a story on the many other Dodge rams that have similar problems. Some even say it has led to electrical problems. I have not had any electrical problems yet, but am concerned it may lead to that.

Unknown Or Other problem #65

I have a 2002 Dodge pickup that the dash is cracked. A piece of it has fallen into the dash. I'm concerned that it will collapse and cut into the wires in my dash.

Unknown Or Other problem #66

No injury. 99 Dodge Ram 2500 dash board material/construction quality issue dashboard split almost full width from the defroster register to the instrument bezel just to the right side of the driver. Is the passenger side airbag still safe since it's dash mounted? original dash is still in vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #67

2001 Dodge ram dash cracked in multiple places. In the event of an air bag deployment/crash, dash will explode and create extensive injuries. Replaced at own expense because Dodge wouldn't do anything about it because its out of warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #68

The contact owns a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact noticed small cracks on the top part of the instrument panel, which have turned into large holes. The vehicle has not been inspected. The current mileage was 131,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

Unknown Or Other problem #69

The defroster does not work causing safety issues, window fogs/frosts up because blend control does not work. The drivers side visor repeatedly/unexpectedly falls blocking view of road. Driver must take attention off the road to move visor to stop blockage. Driver is forced to put attention to visor to try to get it out of the way, thus attention diverted from the road. Both these defaults are major safety issues that block visability of the road for drivers.

Unknown Or Other problem #70

The dashboard in my truck with only 92,000 miles is developing numerous cracks at the windshield area near the defroster vents, and around the mounting screws near the windshield. I have personally seen this in at least 10 other ram trucks, and have found hundreds of pages on the internet of people complaining about this problem. Some have huge holes in the dash top! I've seen pictures of this. The service manager at my local Dodge dealer told me that they are very aware of this problem in the ram trucks, and have replaced several for the city of tallahassee that are out of warranty, but, Chrysler says they will not replace the dashin my truck, because it is out of warranty??. I am concerned that in a head-on collision that the dashboard could shatter and send sharp plastic projectiles thoughout the cabin. Also that the airbag might blow out of it's mounts! this seems like a major safety concern!.

Unknown Or Other problem #71

The upper dash cover cracking in multiple areas. The cracks started small at the corners of the defrost vents and have extended over the entire area of the dash. The cracks are more severe on the drivers side.

Unknown Or Other problem #72

Severe cracks and cave-ins on 2000 Dodge 2500 ram pick-up truck. Chrysler has refused to repair them.

Unknown Or Other problem #73

I have a 1999 Dodge cummins with the "typical" cracked dash. The truck was purchased with the cracked dash. I have gone to many junk yards trying to find a replacement for it (since Dodge wants to much) and every truck I have found is in the same condition, it is obviously a common problem. Some dash's have even collapsed because of these cracks.

Unknown Or Other problem #74

The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact noticed that the dashboard was cracked in his vehicle. As time progressed, the dashboard finally caved in, exposing the passenger side air bags and wiring. The defroster no longer operated due to the damages. The manufacturer offered to assume liability for 50 percent of the repair costs. The contact was concerned with the exposure of wiring and the hazards involved. The failure mileage was 60,000 and current mileage is 112,900. Updated 03/04/09. Updated 03/06/09.

Unknown Or Other problem #75

The steering in this vehicle is terrible when braking, the dashboard is craked and broken very bad in several places Dodge wants to do nothing about these problems. When I apply the brakes the vehicle pulls very hard, this is not an allignment I have had that done changed the rotors the whole 9 yards still the same problem. The dash started out as a little crack now it is broken in several places. This is ridiculous. I will never purchase another Dodge they dont stand behind there vehicles.

Unknown Or Other problem #76

The first occurrence was at 20000 miles, (death wobble), it did not happen for another year. Since then it has gotten more frequent, virtually every time I get on the highway. I have upgraded steering linkage to 09'. ,new track bar, steering dampner , ball joints and also the gearbox frame brace w/pitnam arm bearing kit. I still have the death wobble. I now have around 58000 mi. I love my truck, just not the wobble, I would not feel right by selling it like this.

Unknown Or Other problem #77

I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 truck that started with one crack in the dash and each week I seem to get another. They are now approaching the passenger side air bag. I worry that one day I will be driving and the dash will just come apart. I am sure that in any kind of front end crash pieces of dash would fly all over the cab of the truck.

Unknown Or Other problem #78

I have a 2000 Dodge ram that has a very bad dash problem. It started cracking a year ago. I called the Dodge dealership in temple, TX when I was living in that area and they said they were very aware of the dash problems in the Dodge trucks but couldn't do anything about it. Since then I have talked to hundreds people on the phone - in person - on on the internet about this and they were told the same thing. Now to me this is a very serious problem. I am a member of a local fire dept and I know what a busted dash can do in a wreck - that plastic can be very dangerous. There is no way to tell if the air bag will work properly - the crack could have splintered and you would never know it - until it is too late and the air bag doesn't deploy!! I am very concerned about this matter with not only my truck but everyone elses with cracked dashes!! please help and do something.

Unknown Or Other problem #79

Dash cracked in several places for no apparent reason.

Unknown Or Other problem #80

2003 Dodge Ram 2500 cracked dash.

Unknown Or Other problem #81

I own a 2001 Dodge ram2500. The dash started cracking just as my extended warranty ran out. Now the dash has cracks all over it and some of it has fallen down. I am aware of many, many other Dodge trucks made in 2001 that are doing this. Eventually this will lead to electrical failures. Dodge says they will not fix this. It's pretty obvious if this many people have Dodges with cracked up and falling apart dashes, it is a manufactureres defect.

Unknown Or Other problem #82

The dash in my 2002 Dodge truck busted after 2 years and had only 40,000 miles. This should not had happened so soon. It is now in several pieces.

Unknown Or Other problem #83

The dash board on my truck is cracking and I am very concerned with the air bag being rendered useless as a result of this and also the dangers to myself and possible passengers due to the broken pieces of dash being thrown around in the event of an accident.

Dash is cracked completely in two pieces and unsafe. I found that it is a factory flaw and feel that Dodge should replace at no charge.

I have a 2001 Dodge ram pickup that the dash is collapsing in on itself. Now the wiring is exposed to the harsh sunlight of fla. I know that this is a problem with many other 2001 Dodge ram pickups.

My dashboard is falling apart. It started with a small crack and know a chunk has fallen out. I have e-mailed Dodge, but they are not willing to help. I am concerned that the damaged dashboard could cause problems for or with the airbag on the passenger side. Daimler Chrysler's reference number 13609941.

On air filter box, air gauge minder fell off without notice. This caused the vehicle to be driven with unfiltered air getting to the engine. . . Possibly causing severe damage.

The dashboard crumbled and collapsed into electrical and airconditioning equipment.

We bought a new 2001 Dodge 2500 in October 2000. Approximately 5 years after we bought it the dash began falling apart. At the time it began cracking, I wrote Dodge a letter explaining our problem and requesting they repair the dash "in good faith" even though it was out of warranty. They never even bothered to reply. Every single person we know with this Dodge truck has a dash that is falling apart. There are huge chunks now creating holes in the dash. Parts of the dash are falling down under the dash area into places I can't safely access. We have unsuccessfully attempted to glue the cracks approximately 20 times. My fear is that it's getting so bad it will soon interfere with wiring, air bags and safety of the vehicle as chunks of the dash are falling into areas of the truck where they are not intended to be. I don't think we should have to wait for an accident to happen to see this dash recalled. Since Dodge is not accepting responsiblity for this obvious defect, I think the government should force them to recall the truck and repair the damage.

Dash in 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 has broken into pieces. Dodge will not remedy the situation even though there is a more than enough instances of this problem with this year model of vehicle. Material dash is manufactured with it's defective causing the dash to break apart and become a safety concern with the stability of the dash in case of crash. Complaint would have been filed earlier but just recently learned of this site.

My Dodge 2500 series truck does not meet the standards in the 49 cfr 567. 4 3) ``gross vehicle weight rating'' or ``gvwr,'' followed by the appropriate value in pounds, which shall not be less than the sum of the . Unloaded vehicle weight, rated cargo load, and 150 pounds times the vehicle's designated seating capacity. My Dodge has an empty weight of 6072 pounds with an advertised payload of 2690 pounds and seats six passengers. 6072 + 2690 + 900 = 9702 pounds. If I loaded my vehicle to it's capacity, I would be 702 pounds over my gvwr of 9000 lbs. Furthermore my truck actually weighs in at 7490 pounds with my family of five and a full tank of gas. If I was to load my truck to the payload of 2690 pounds, my truck would weigh 10,180 pounds. This would lead me to be 1,180 pounds over my gvwr. In essence there is no possible way to safely stay within my gvwr if I loaded my truck with six passengers weighing 150 a piece and then loaded to my payload capacity. The only option is to load my vehicle to less than half of it's payload capacity on my door plate. This is an unsafe condition for those only reading the door plate and manufacturer literature. I have been led to operate my vehicle in a unsafe maner by using manufacturer literature.

The cup holder in my 1997 Dodge ram 3/4 ton pickup is not properly designed. As supplied the cup holder has cut outs on the sides. The cup holder also has a base plate that supports the bottom of the cup. The base plate does not allow cups to fit low enough into the holder to enable the front and back portions of the cup holder to make good contact. Taller cups like the typical fast food drink cup is only supported by the bottom with no side support or just around the ring where the cup changes sizes in the case of the larger cups. With the majority of coffee cups the cup holder provides support in only a couple of locations. The problem is when the cup holder is in use as designed and the driver makes a right or left turn at normal driving speeds the cup will flip out of the cup holder spilling the contents on the occupants and the electronic systems of the vehicle. This has happened a number of times in my vehicle. I have not had a motor vehicle accident involving other vehicles but have sustained comprehensive damage due to a soft drink being spilled in the radio/cd/tape player. I have not met anyone yet who owns or owned a Dodge pickup of this body style that has not experienced this same problem. An employee at the dealership I purchased this vehicle from in 1998 agreed that the cup holder was unsafe and poorly designed when I brought the vehicle in the first time this happened to me resulting in the destruction of the sound system. When I tried to inform people about the problem the dealer threatened to sue me. The Dodge corporation complaint hot line indicated that I was the only person who had ever called and complained when I called in the spring of 1999.

We purchased a brand new 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. (construction CO. ) by 2003 the dash was cracking. Qucikly falling apart with chunks caving inward. Even though there was no negligence on our part and obviously a manufacturer problem, the Dodge dealership would not fix it for us. We have called the 800 number, seen on tv but have gotten no help. The 2nd time we called they did not even return our call. As you can see, by this complaint site, this is a common problem of the 2001 pickups! what can we do about it??.

On trip to camping ground in sierra nevada mountains, started to smell "hot brakes" although I had not been using them at that point. Thought brake shoe may be dragging or that it could be another motorist. Approached camp ground with growing certainty it had to be my truck. After parking in camping space and shutting down motor, I noticed smoke issuing from under hood. Opened hood to investigate and found flames licking up firewall/toe board. Inspection revealed that firewall insulation had fallen down onto exhaust pipe and started on fire between the insulation and the toe board/firewall. Some exhaust "header wrap" was on the exhaust pipe but it had loosened. The area of contact with the insulation was covered with the "header wrap" but it did no good. I was unable to push the remaining insulation piece out of contact with the exhaust so the return trip home days later) was very nerve wrecking. The recall service was improperly done. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis***762404.
