Diesel Engine problems of the 1999 Dodge Ram 3500

1 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2005

At 86,000 miles, diesel fuel injection pump failed without warning while driving causing engine to quit running leading to a loss of power steering and assisted brake control. I was able to coast the truck to the side of the road and out of the flow of traffic with great difficulty before coming to a stop. Truck had to be towed from the side of the highway, and failed injection pump was replaced at my expense. Failed bosch vp44 diesel fuel injection pump was returned as a core.

2 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2005

1999 Dodge Ram 3500 cummins vp44 failure in the middle of traffic no brakes or steering truck has 60000 miles.

3 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2004

Engine developed a crack on side of block, causing coolant leak. Currently loosing two (2) gallons a day.
