Driver ran over tire rubber debris causing a thud under truck. Five minutes later a very loud thud noise occurred, no warning lights on dash, driver pulled off the highway immediately and exited truck. The grass was on fire underneath the truck. Explosion occurred. The entire inside of truck was gutted. Local fire department responded and put out the fire. Texas department of safety refused to respond since collision not involved. The truck is at a towing company awaiting salvage and has been inspected by a mechanic.
The injector fuel line keep brakeing and pushing high pressure fuel all over the engine compartment. Vehicle is in motion and engine at full temp. This is well known problem with this engine with thousands of people stranded each year. Extreme fire hazard. It has happened twice to this truck in 80000 miles.
Driving home from a trip at 65mph #4 injector line breaks covers complete truck with diesel. I contacted Dodge with safety concern they say they didn't know about the problem and would take it into consideration for future products. This is problem will kill people now if they are not informed of the problems with there truck and they catch on fire. Dodge and cummings has changed the way the replacement fuel lines are made to stop them from breaking but won't let people know ahead of time that there's could break . There is listing after listing in the internet about this problem and Dodge can't keep up with the amount of replacement lines.
