The contact then noticed that the spare tire had fallen from the vehicle and into oncoming traffic. The contact was concerned because of the crash risk involved for other drivers. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the spare tire cable harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.
