The vehicle was restarted and an abnormal noise was heard from the engine. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from the engine and caught on fire. A police/fire report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph he heard a loud noise near the front driver's wheel. The contact was able to drive his vehicle home. He inspected the vehicle, there was a crack on the front driver's side rotator and the caliper failed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
