1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Driving my 2012 Dodge Ram 3500, just as I was crossing one of the busiest intersections in my town my truck lost all power and dropped from 35mph to 5 mph. Barley made it acrossed and pulled over. As soon as I pulled over the engine light comes on, checked code, and u010c lost coms with turbo actuator comes up. Turned truck off and rest code and everything back to normal. About a week later it happened again, luckily not as busy of a spot. Called dealer and soonest appointment was in April. Meanwhile I look up code and see hundreds of post for same issue, bad actuator replace. 28 years as a diesel mechanic for the military, so I found the part online and ordered. Replaced the actuator, drove about 50 miles, light comes back on. Finally get my appointment with dealer and they say my turbo is bad, they want $8k to fix. I ordered the turbo and replaced it myself along with another actuator, test drove. Light still comes on but have not lost power yet?? dealer is not helping. This is a major issue that is all over the internet! the truck just goes to limp and your in the middle of traffic. If this has not caused an accident it’s only a matter of time before it does. The dealer ship just wants to replace big parts for lots of money. I’m already $2500 into this and still having an issue.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

In December, I received the p65 fuel heater electrical connector recall which warns of a fuel leak and risk of fire. It is now February and parts are still not available to fix this and avoid the fire risk. If Chrysler can come up with the parts to supply their production lines, why can't Chrysler come up with the parts for the recall? based on this recall and other Chrysler recalls, the delays procuring recall parts while supplying production line parts appears to be a deliberate strategy by Chrysler to delay or avoid the expense of implementing recalls.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

My driver was traveling at 80 mph in cruise control when he started to notice a vibration from the truck that was shaking the mirrors. He took the vehicle out of cruise control and started to decelerate. At approximately 70 mph a large bang was heard from beneath the vehicle and the front end of the truck was lifted off of the pavement. This caused the vehicle to be turned slightly sideways when it came back down into contact with the pavement while traveling at 70 mph! thankfully my driver was able to correct the vehicle straight but when he pushed on the brake pedal it went all the way to the floor. He was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and eventually bring it to a stop. Parts from the truck had been strewn down the interstate over approximately 200 yds. There was a vehicle traveling behind my driver at the time of the incident but luckily they were far enough behind that they were able to take evasive actions to avoid any flying debris. Thankfully there were no injuries or after incident accidents that occurred though I would attribute this to the alert and responsive driving of both my driver and the driver of the vehicle behind him. Had there been a vehicle directly behind or to the side of him there could have been a major accident possibly resulting in injuries or death. This vehicle was towed to a Dodge ram dealer where we were informed that the front drive shaft was the part that failed. We were informed by dealer personnel that this drive shaft has a joint that is non-serviceable nor easily inspected and that this was the root cause of the failure. Other parts that were effected were the transfer case (the case was broken in two pieces and the internals were blown out), transmission cracked beyond repair, brake lines had been severed, fuel lines had been severed and a hole was punched through the cab bottom into the passenger area.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

This truck has been under recall for a long time now and everytime we have tried to take it to the dealer we are told that the parts are not available yet. This truck is a response/command vehicle for our fire protection district and is driven by the fire chief. How much longer do we have to wait. Chrysler said they would contact us again by mail, with a follow-up recall notice, when the remedy part is available. Will it ever be ready? recall # p65 / NHTSA 14v - 635.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2013

I was towing a 5th wheel and the check eng. Light come on and the truck stalled whent from 60mph. To 30 mph. I stoped for the night in the morring I got it to holiday Dodge in austin mn. And was told the a code of p0087 was on and it was a low fuel rail perssure. But the part need was on back order and no Dodge shope had one it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get one. After this repair was done it has been into Dodge 8 time for the same thing and has cost me a lot. But I stell don't have a sefe truck. Its not safe do to the truck runing at 60mph then droping to 30mph or not runing at all. Towing a trailer and the eng. Stops on the interstate trying to get the truck and trailer off the highway with no power is not safe.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

I pull a light weight 40' gooseneck trailer, and while driving I noticed the fuel mileage dropped tremendously and the coolant temp stayed around 220deg and I noticed a horrible loss of power which would not let me drive any faster than around 40-45mph! I took it to the dealership and they performed a boost test on the turbo and said that it's supposed to produce 32 pounds of boost but mine was only producing 26 pounds of boost, and then I was informed they could not justify replacing the turbo because it has not thrown a code on the instrument panel, well if you tell me it's supposed to produce one number and it's doing another then I believe that's enough justification to replace the part beings I paid $50,000 for a brand new truck! the loss of power causes traffic back-ups even if I'm in the slow lane! the temp out of the exhaust reaches 800deg's and melts my mudflap and has caused it to start smoldering after I come to a complete stop! I was later informed about the "re-gen" process and was told it would kick in and out of "re-gen" but I don't believe mine has came out of re-gen beings I'm still getting 5mph with or without a trailer! the engine light and abs light comes on numerous times a day an then go off and now the engine light stays on all the time! this is a brand new Dodge 3500 6. 7l turbo diesel 4x4.
