Released the emergency brake when getting ready to start rolling was towing a trailer. 8 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

While driving home from work one evening my truck started making the most awful grinding sound coming from the front passenger tire. Then my abs light and serv 4wd light came on the dash. A few seconds later the tucked bobbled and weaved and I could no longer steer it. When I got out to look at the problem the wheel itself was resting on the hub assembly. Previous to this I've had to replace front end parts like crazy. New ball joints and I joints annually. Brakes twice a year, and it will eat up tires on the front. Also the truck will not stay aligned. I've contacted Chrysler and first they were very helpful, but then they started to give me the run around. I've had to have their tie rod end recall fixed several times as well.

9 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

Driving down the frwy at required speed when rt rear pass tire blew causing extensive damage to the wheel, rt rear panel & tailpipe. This tire had 3,000 mi. On it & we had chkd psig on all tires just previous to the blowout. This tire was a lt265/70r-17/10 terramax ht all position owl made by dynamic tire. Les schwab replaced it with one just like it. We had a 4,000lb arctic fox cab over camper on the truck at the time. Dynamic states there is not enough evidence of poor quality or anything else that would name them as the responsible party.

10 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/21/2015

Entered into 295n (9a) from merrill rd. Heading toward dunn avenue. As I was approaching the dames point bridge the trucks front axle began to shake and vibrate uncontrollably. Also the truck started pulling to right very hard. I pulled off into the emergency lane, turned on flashers, and placed truck in park . After I pulled wheel off, I noticed the tire had shown the inside treads were raised higher than outside treads. This is due to tread and steel belt separating. Replaced with spare under truck. Kept defective tire, because I have seen many complaints same issue same tire, and I am searching for recalls relating to the general amentrac 235/80r/17.

11 Wheel problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

On highway 174, approximately 20 miles NW of meridian, TX, the 2012 Ram 3500 veered to the right and went off the road into a steep ditch. According to the state trooper's report, a witness was driving behind this truck and saw the passenger side dual wheels with axle attached come off of the truck and go across the road before the truck left the pavement. Two different employees of the wrecking yard where the truck was taken said it looks like the axle came apart. Since this accident, I have spoken to another individual that this happened to also.

12 Wheel problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

During travel on interstate 40 at exit 56, drivers side front tire separated causing damage to inner fender, windshield washer electrical components, and fender and nearly causing catastrophic loss of vehicle control and loss of life of an entire family. All tires were at the proper inflation and temperature range at the time of the incident. With only 20,000 miles on the tire, this seems to be manufactured defect from the general tire company. I no longer consider general tires to be a reliable product and will research and seek replacements from other reputable tire companies. I do recommend product recall of the ameritrac lt235/80r17 tire line as well as product safety compliance inspections of the general tire company.

15 Wheel problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Since this truck was new it would shake violently in the front end when you hit a slight bump at 60 mph changed everything in front end and added steering dampener recommended by dealer. Does it more often now. We have named it the death rattle.

16 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

The cable holding the spare tire in place broke. The spare fell of the truck, the tire weights close to 90 to 100 lbs, while traveling around 60 mph. I was flagged by a motorist who was behind me at the time. He stated the tire came off my and bounced into the other opposing lane. A car had to use the shoulder and ditch to avoid the full size spare tire. By the time I found a place to turn around and go back to the aprox location I did not find the spare. The cable holding the tire broke about 6 inches below the winch. By the number replacement winches being sold lost tire reports its only a matter of time before an injury. The cable will not break while the truck is standing still. I have removed the winch from my truck and am saving it.

17 Wheel problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

As with many of the other complaints about 2003 Dodge Ram 3500's this Ram 3500 has had all suggested steering component upgrades and recall upgrades (change steering to 2008 steering) and the tie rod recall for the 2008 steering. The 2008 steering upgrade seemed to exacerbate the tire wear issue. Additionally, ball joints and shocks have been replaced. The ram death wobble and excessive tie wear is still present. The last set of tires lasted 8,000 miles (I am putting a new set on today). The tire wear on my last trip of only 360 miles was very noticeable - so much so a trip of 1,000 miles or more would have caused dangerous tire wear and potential catastrophic failure. Dodge has tried to fix the problem by only skimming over the issue with minor fixes. As a retired law enforcement officer with hundreds of thousands of miles of driving experience - the steering and excessive tire wear is unsafe. Since I am getting new tires and an alignment today - I will be more than happy to track mileage, driving conditions, note steering issues, and photograph tire wear - if you wish.

21 Wheel problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/25/2013

My safety issue is when a lance truck camper, model 1172 is attached to truck. The cg is 6-8 behind the rear axle (even though both Dodge and lance data sheets indicate it should be over or in front of rear wheel). In addition, when fresh water tank is full (and without a normal camping load), the gawr of the rear axle is exceeded. 400 pounds of weight is taken off the front axle when the camper is attached to the truck. An inspection of the front tires revealed significant cupping with less than 5000 miles on the new vehicle. The truck with the camper attached is very unstable driving down the highway. I contacted both lance and the dealer I purchased the camper from. Both say there are no issues and everything is in specs.

22 Wheel problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 06/11/2013

On June 11, 2013 I was backing into my garage when I lost my steering capability for my vehicle. I exited my vehicle to try and determine what may have caused this. I noticed the tie rod on the drivers side hanging down to the ground. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest Dodge dealer(zimmerman's enterprises) in sunbury PA. The tie rod replacement was covered under a safety recall and was replaced the following day. Due to the tie rod being bad it caused my drivers side front tire to become cupped and damaged. I asked the sales manage at zimmerman's Dodge about the faulty tire and he told he to just rotate it to the rear. The four tires on my truck were purchased in February. All four tires were rotated in may after approx. 5,000 miles. The tire that was worn out because of the faulty tie rod would not pass inspection when I questioned my mechanic. It is obvious that my other 3 tires have very little wear on them compared to the tire that was on the side with the faulty tie rod. My concern is that my vehicle was placed on the road with an unsafe tire. Also the tie rod being faulty caused my tire to wear abnormally and should have been replaced under the recall for the tie rod. I understand that Chrysler does not have a warranty on tires but this defect was caused due to a manufacturer defect part.

23 Wheel problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, he noticed when the trailer was linked onto the vehicle, the hub caps flew off. The problem recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for for a diagnosis, however, the mechanic had just replaced the hubcap and did not say what had caused the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Gb.

24 Wheel problem of the 2007 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 02/11/2013

The right front tire,a general ameritrac 235/80r/17,which is the original spare tire that was put on just a couple of months before, started to shake. I went to local tire store to get a new one installed. They did not have any so I was on my way home. Its about 8 miles each way to this store from my home. On the way home, this tire blew up like it had a bomb in it! the disintegrating tire destroyed my running board, fender flair and dented the trucks fender. I didn't have a spare,so I used the trucks tire tools (another issue)and took one of the rear duals off of the back and put in on the front to get home. After a trip to the tire store, they would replace or adjust this tire,so I had to buy a new one. Well just the other day that tire started to shake too. After running 70 mph on the interstate, and having tire issues with the same general tires,I was quick to get off an exit ramp to see what was making my truck shake. I quickly noticed that the left front tire was coming apart like the other one had done. So I did the same as before,I took a dual wheel off and put in the steer position. This tire was coming apart and I caught it before it blew too. Upon removal I about fell over when I seen a bulge in this tire on the inside where the tread and sidewall meet. This bulge was the size of a large grapefruit!these tires have 16/32 tread when new. The one that was coming apart still has 13/32 tread. Barely worn. The dealer has offered to pro rate the tire. Thats ok. But what about the damage the other had doen to my truck? I guess im out of luck??these general tires obviously have safety issues that need looked into. The tire dealer and general tire (and myself) are lucky there weren't any injuries as when the first tire blew at 50 mph,I had my hands full keeping my truck under control. Had I had my trailer behind me with a load on it going 70 mph, there would have been one hell of a wreck.

25 Wheel problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/26/2012

The left tie rod on the front drivers side broke. This was after the part had been recalled in March of 2012 which was taken in and serviced the same month per the notice. I was returning my fifth wheel to storage when the tie rod snapped. Backing in slowly no more than 5 mph. Needless to say I refuse to tow my 5th wheel anymore with the Ram 3500 as had it broke while on highway at a high rate of speed could have resulted in injuries and potential fatalities. I am trying to confirm if Dodge has addressed this issue for 2013 as there are many others on forums that have had the same tie rod failures.

26 Wheel problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

I have been experiencing severe front end shaking/wobble when traveling at various speeds and after the most significant event occurs when traveling at highway speed and hitting a bump when steering left or right. This causes the front-end to shake violently and the steering wheel to rapidly jerk to the left/right. The only way for this to stop is to pull over and come to a complete stop and then resume driving. I have taken my truck to my personal mechanic who inspected everything and told me there was nothing noticeable that would cause the truck to do this. After some more occurrences, I took it to the Dodge dealer to get their opinion. I was told that I needed to replace the steering damper and that would solve my problem. I thought this to be rather odd due to the fact that I just had it replace within the past year due to it leaking. I was assured this would take care of the front end wobble. Well, $144 later, it was still happening. I was told next that it could be an alignment issue, so they did an alignment on the truck. That too did not resolve the problem. I spoke directly to the service manager who, after a lengthy conversation, informed me that he has seen a large number of these trucks that have the same problem and the only way to fix it is to replace a number of front end parts that end up totaling $2,370. 16. I was informed that these parts are new and not oem which I couldn¿t even obtain anymore. I have done some research and have determined that I am not the only one who has experienced the front-end shimmy/wobble. There is vast information regarding this problem on the internet.

27 Wheel problem of the 2009 Dodge Ram 3500

Failure Date: 08/07/2010

8-10-10 3500 ram e/b hwy 47 at 55 mgh passing fruit stand heard loud pop and vehicle veered right jumping curb headed toward guardrail. I pulled as hard as I could to avoid ramming the guardrail and imminent injury to both myself and son in right front seat. Dropped about 20 down into ravine in 4 foot grass and struck pile of 4 foot logs thrown there by road . Crew. Front end including steering tie rod had to be replaced. 10-8-10 while droving on mountain blm road in four wheel low. I stopped to backup and left front tire turned sideways. The tie rod lock nut had come undone fell off (unknown location) tie rod dropped to ground. Had to use hay twine to tie up and hold together in order to get back to ranch out of the mountains. It took 4 hours to creep home with my son walking the vehicle around every corner to assure the tie rod stayed together. Vehicle towed to and repaired by roseburg lithia Dodge. I filed safety complaint about tie rod safety hazard. Approximately a year and a half ago, noted loud snapping when turning front end. Tire shop could hear and feel, but we were unable to locate problem. Recall came out and recall parts had to be recalled. No repair. Just notified again of recall and had to have vehicle inspected to confirm recall parts needed. 6-4-14 wife took truck into roseburg lithia Dodge for the inspection to get the recall parts ordered. She brought the loud snapping to service writers attention. He advised approximately 70 customers ahead of us and it would be about 4 months till repair could be make. She advised problem getting worse and possed an imminent safety hazard. Service writer showed no concern for safety and advised the problem was between us and chysler. Should another accident or tie rod failure be proximate cause, both roseburg lithia Dodge and chysler will be held responsible for gross neglegence.
