Wiring problem #1

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Dodge Sprinter. The contact stated that both headlight bulbs had gone out upon activation. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was able to replace the headlights. The contact stated that soon after the initial replacement, the headlights had gone out yet again. This time, the contact had decided to replace the headlights himself and discovered burnt wiring in both headlight manifolds which he linked to the repeated failure. After the contact replaced both headlights, the contact stated that the passenger headlight had gone out yet again. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure where they informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. Jo.

Electrical System problem #2

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed excessive smoke inside the cargo compartment. Upon further inspection, he noticed that the rear driver's side interior lighting was the source of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and is in the process of being inspected. It has not yet been determined if the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign id number 07v299000 (interior lighting). The failure and current mileages were 15,000. Update 10/01/08 the consumer stated the fire was electrical. The switch mechanism used in the rear lights was poorly designed. The consumer was able to put the fire out. Updated 10/03/08.

Underhood Wiring problem #3

The car was in slow driving condition in hot weather driving. . The heater fan motor and/or heater fan wiring at the motor overheated and burned all plastic surrounding the plastic connector and wiring near it. The fire then spread to surrounding plastic heater blower fan housing and extinguished when heater hose burned and burst/sprayed sending antifreeze to put out the fire. The fire source was easily identified as the fire was localized in the wiring connector to the fan motor connector area and no other part of the underhood fire. The correct amperage fuse is in place for the affected circuits powering the fan motor. The factory is investigating the source of the fire. I have several pictures of the fire damage.
