Structure Problems of Dodge Stratus

04/20/2012 drove out of drive way down heading down the street to stop sign *(cul-DE-sac) heard something like a bang. . . Drove back in to drive way. Open hood. . . Found an open gap on left side of cover showing time chain exposed. . . Had a mechanic look over car, while he was checking under the engine , releasing a few bolts to repair saw timing chain guide had broken off causing time chain shift and go out of position causing the cover to bust open. . . I was told vehicle was not repairable. Due to the timing chain guide . Purchased in December 2011 failed components timing chain and timing chain guide and pulley.

Heard and felt noise and vibration in steering wheel. Took car in for check up was told motor mounts (4) were needed.

I own a 2003 Dodge Stratus coupe(engineered by Mitsubishi) and my clear coat has started to fade leaving white spots on the top of my car right behind the sunroof. It has also started to fade on the trunk of my vehicle as well. This issue only seems to ba happening to the cars manufactured with black paint. Other cars I have seen with this problem also manufactured by Mitsubishi are 1995-2000 Chrysler sebring coupe, Dodge avenger coupe, Mitsubishi eclipse, Mitsubishi galant. Also, 2001-2005 Dodge Stratus coupe, Chrysler sebring coupe, Mitsubishi eclipse and galant. The condition worsens over time and eventually start to go down the a,b and c pillar and hood of the car. Again this is only with the black paint. This a very common problem with the black paint on these cars and as the owner of one I would like something done about it.

I own a 2003 Dodge Stratus coupe in which the dashboard is warping and coming a loose. I purchased this car used in 2008 in great condition, however after owning it for a few months the dashboard started pulling away from the speedometer, the air condition vents and other places on the board. Just recently, I have noticed that the problem continues to spread and now the glove department has started unhinge itself. This has become very unsettling because I am afraid that the airbag which is only a few inches above the glove department will eventually deploy. I believe this is a serious matter that must be addressed. I have researched and found out that several owners of car are facing the same problem. Not mention, I have also discovered that a white film appears on the interior of the window above the dash which causes a glare and a impairment when I drive. I have to constantly wipe and clean the inside window when I drive in order to see. This is very dangerous especially when condensation builds up on the inside. And the condensation builds up because the dashboard has flipped up towards the windshield. I should not have to constantly wipe the inside of the windshield as if I'm a human wiper blade.

My dash board on my 2004 Dodge Stratus coupe is coming up causing the air bag to start popping up also.

Dash vinyl is separating or peeling off at the defrost vent from the dash. No known way to fix it. Will need replaced with a better design.

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Stratus. While driving approximately 25-30 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle came to a complete stop and was unexpectedly rear-ended. The trunk sustained severe damage due to the massive impact. The rear spoiler detached from the trunk and went through the rear glass. There were no injuries. The vehicle was completely destroyed. The police was called to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. The dashboard material is unstable. Near the windshield defrost vents it has started to bend upwards along the vents edges. The passenger vent, next to the airbag, has also popped out a little due to stress from the dashboards.

The dashboard of my 2001 Dodge Stratus r/t has become severly cracked. I first noticed a small crack last year shortly after I purchased the vehicle. A few months later I noticed that the crack had become even larger and that another crack was forming. Then during the winter months I noticed a third crack near the defroster vent! I contacted the dealership that I purchased the car from and explained the problem to them. They told that they were unfamiliar with any such problem and that since the car was out of warranty that there was nothing they could do to help me. I noticed a 4th crack a few weeks ago and did some searching online to see if anyone else was experiencing this same problem and found that alot of people have! I have read where others have had the dashboard replaced/repaired only to have the cracking problem recur. Now I have not tried to take the dashboard off to repair it for fear that it would simply fall to pieces. I believe that daimler Chrysler is well aware of this problem and should be made to recall all vehicles with this defect and fix it at their cost! if I were to have an accident where the air bags deployed I'm concerned that pieces of plastic would fly off and cause serious injury!.

The dash board has warped and pieces are falling inside the dash.

The dashboard on my 01 Stratus coupe has cracked without any force or cause. I have had an annoying rattle has a result of this crack.

The dash in our '01 Stratus coupe is cracking in about 5 different places. The dealer will not help.

On my 05 Dodge Stratus r\t coupe the dash board by the defroster vent area is bending up from the foam insulation.

Paint on roof of vehicle has turned white (black vehicle). Area is white but will go away when wet. Area comes back as it dries. White area is rough and is slowly spreading along the roof of the vehicle.

I have an 04 Stratus coupe I bought used, the dash is coming apart at the defroster vent. It seems to be coming apart at the seams. It only has 55000 miles on it. Updated 01/11/08. Updated.

I have an 04 Stratus coupe I bought new, the dash is coming apart at the defroster vent. It on has 7,500 miles on it and is garage kept.

I have two large cracks that have appeared in the dash of my vehicle. I do not know how the cracks occurred, they just appeared. Because of the cracks, I'm afraid that in a crash the dash will fall apart and harm those individuals in the vehicle. At this point, nothing has been done to correct this problem.

I bought my 2003 Dodge Stratus r/t on June 9, 2006. After having it about two weeks the dash pad started to come undone from the dash.

1. No warning 2. Vehicle has a leak which causes water(from rain or snow) to leak onto the passenger side floor board. I have vacuumed out as much as 5 gallons of water at a time. I have looked very carefully and cannot determine the leak path. 3. No correction has been found.

Ther is a definite noise in the right front coil spring area. It only shows up on uneven or rough surface roads. The dealer keeps insisting there is nothing wrong with the front end. Of course all of the roads they test drive it on are smooth. They won't let me take a tech on a drive in my area.

2003 Stratus sxt. Numerous water leaks. I bought this car brand new in March 2003. By April it had a really strong mildew smell. It was found to have a water leak in the trunk(after they tore apart the front of my car looking for the leak). They wanted to shampoo the carpet, I made them replace the carpet. Since then the car has been back to in the shop 3 other times and they have found 7 other water leaks. I am extremely disappointed with this car help!!!!!! I've tried to talk to the manager at hendrick Dodge where I bought the car, but he was a complete jerk. I've tried contacting the manufacturer, but they say that since the leak was repaired there is nothing they can do. I can understand maybe 1 leak but 8? give me a break, what ever happened to customer service? I have been a long time Dodge person, but I think after this they will not get anymore of my business. 2002 Stratus makes loud noise when turning vehicle and going across road bumps at same time. Our drive has a 6 in sloped curb that when pulling out of, or pulling into, is a constant source of this noise. Dealer service tech went on test ride with me heard the noise and could not find source. He wanted to keep car for several days to determine problem.

Water leakage on passenger side floor only when it rains was told there were no visible signs of anything wrong but the problem persists also an oil leakage only noticed after an oil change they say its a problem with an inferior gasket and that there was a recall for that problem in the past.
