Steering problem #1

On Jan 15, 2025. A cold start for the Bronco, putting in reverse, the vehicle lurched back and to the hard right, uncommanded acceleration at a high rate of speed, steering locked up, brakes locked up, tires spinning, engine revving causing the Bronco to smash into the exterior of my home garage area. Then, shifting to drive, the vehicle again lurched, uncommanded acceleration hard to the left now, steering locked up, brakes locked up, tires spinning engine revving traveling 20-30 feet crashing into the electrical box coming to rest on top of it. Numerous faults showing multiple systems malfunctioning causing this incident.

Steering problem #2

Accident statement – instrument panel cluster failure & collision while driving my 2025 Ford outerbanks, the instrument panel cluster (ipc) screen suddenly went completely black without warning. At the time of the malfunction, I was attempting to merge into traffic on my left with my left turn signal activated. Simultaneously, an 18-wheeler in the lane beside me was merging to his right. The sudden loss of my ipc screen meant I could not see my speedometer, warning indicators, safety messages, or any visibility cues needed to safely judge traffic speed and spacing. This created an immediate hazardous situation and made it extremely difficult to manage both my own speed and the surrounding traffic patterns. As I recognized the danger, I attempted to brake and avoid a collision. During this moment, my steering wheel began to shake slightly—possibly due to the lane-keeping or lane-safety system responding. Despite my efforts to correct and avoid impact, the 18-wheeler collided with my vehicle. At the time of the crash, I had no visibility of any dashboard warnings, alerts, vehicle speed, or safety notifications due to the ipc failure. My insurance representative has inspected my vehicle and deemed it a total loss.

Steering problem #3

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel locked up. The contact used force while turning the steering wheel to make lane corrections. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 23v155000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 29,500.

Steering problem #4

The vehicle started showing excessive tire wear with only 3500 miles on it. We took it to the dealership to have this checked and discovered it the front suspension was severely out of alignment they aligned the suspension and 1500 miles later it was out of alignment again and was re aligned. Then 1500 miles later it was aligned yet again because of excessive wear and pulling hard to the left. The vehicle was returned to the dealership it was purchased from and they kept it for 27 straight days and claimed to have done 5 alignments and the 5th one worked. We drove the vehicle 1000 miles and the front tires were showing even worse wear and the front end was discovered to be out of alignment yet again. As of today the vehicle is scheduled to be returned to the dealership for a 5th time with no real remedy or answer on the issue. I uploaded 10 documents but have 11 more available.

Steering problem #5

When turning the steering wheel right or left going in a slight decline or incline the wheel seems to lock up or requires a hard pull to move the wheel, its now to the point my wife can no longer drive the car. I have almost run off the road one time and just this morning almost hit my neighbors mail box I am taking the car to the dealer but they say there is no recall, there are certain models of the same year that are being recalled, I think the company, slow in adding models of my type. I have stopped driving the car, hopefully the dealer will fix it. K to the dealer and Ford and both say this problem is not part of the recall. The car has 27000 miles and is 3 years old.

Steering problem #6

Car began flashing multiple warnings including power steering, brakes, basically all warnings. Power steering and brakes both failed. Took to dealership. Found wires and wire harnesses burnt and melted. Delaliship says it was due to a pinched wire on an after market winch however the winch was installed in 2022 and never had any issue before. They cited damage underneath on the skid plate which is very minor in nature and should not be able to cause such egregious errors.

Steering problem #7

Our family was traveling from lake george new york to boston MA on Wednesday March 11th. As we passed another vehicle in the far left lane on I-90 the vehicle bounced and we lost control of the backend of the vehicle and it "fish tailed" across the highway nearly causing a collision at 65 miles per hour. The anti-lock breaks were activated and we nearly collided with several cars but managed to pull into the emergency lane. The vehicle was not drivable after this incident because any pothole or bump on the highway, at speeds over 50 mph, made the rear of the vehicle very unstable. It will skid and sway. Our vehicle is now undrivable and Ford says the only available solution is a "buy back" program and a solution will not be available until q3 of 2025. This leaves us with a 4 year old vehicle with only 24k miles undrivable. This is not acceptable.

Steering problem #8

Lane keeping assistance not updated to match roads and ran me off highway.

Steering problem #9

Older car models without lane assistance are swerving into my lane everytime I get near them.

Steering problem #10

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. While the contact’s daughter was driving at various speeds, the power steering malfunctioned, causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Steering problem #11

2022 Ford Bronco outer banks "steering assist fault service required" warning appears on instrument display panel intermittently. When the warning appears power steering does not work.

Steering problem #12

Steering stopped working. Took it to a Ford dealership and they have identified the problem as a broken steering gear. Other 2022 Ford Broncos were recalled for a faulty steering gear, but my VIN was not included. Seems suspicious that the same part breaks for the same year and model. Additionally, the part is on back order at Ford, so there may be a high demand for these parts because other steering gears are failing.

Steering problem #13

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to function as needed. The contact stated that the steering wheel locked seized and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with rack and pinion failure. The contact was informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that parts to repair the vehicle were on back order. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Steering problem #14

I customer ordered 2023 Bronco from Ford in 1/2023. It was delivered on 3/7/23. I paid for vehicle in full. Upon getting in Bronco to drive home I noticed a defective steering wheel with bumps all over it. They cut into my fingers. I notified Ford right then on 3/7/23. I also noticed defective knuckle punch on rear tail door of Bronco that holds spare tire, etc. I notified Ford. They have wasted a year lying to me by email and telephone messages telling me they are not responsible for these defects. I documented and photographed issues and had crown Ford in lynbrook, NY inspect vehicle and photograph issues and send them to Ford headquarters in michigan. Ford refuses to made repairs/corrections under a manufacturer's warrent or through the lemon law, etc. This was a brand new factory built and delivered Ford Bronco. It was never on a showroom floor or test driven. It was ordered, paid, and picked up by me. I have offered to have work done and provide Ford the reciepts but they refuse to do anything to rectify the situation.

Steering problem #15

While driving eastbound on a major parkway traveling at approx. 50mph in the middle lane, the steering completely failed on our 2023 Ford Bronco outer bank’s sasquatch (the steering wheel was spinning freely and was not controlling the vehicle in any way). The truck was now uncontrollably moving from the middle lane into the left lane narrowly missing several other vehicles. The truck then continued uncontrollably moving left towards a large concrete center barrier, finally coming to a stop against the left shoulder cement barrier. I have included several still screen shots from the video I took of the steering wheel spinning freely without any movement in the front tire. I would gladly share this video if possible.

Steering problem #16

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph, the vehicle violently pulled to the left and crashed into a guard rail. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made abnormal sounds. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on her mobile app, she was notified that the power of steering assist failed, along with other warnings. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, and then it was towed to a body shop. A police report was filed. The contact did not sustain injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

Steering problem #17

I was attempting a u-turn and the steering ratio was cut short and it locked up briefly.

Steering problem #18

When parking or turning at stop lights periodically my steering wheel will lock up and become extremely hard to turn. I get stuck in the middle of an intersection or a parking lot not being able to turn my wheel. I have had the dealership look at it however they could not recreate the issue. The only warning I can feel is the steering starts to tighten up.

Steering problem #19

Within days of buying this 2021 Bronco in April 2022, the power steering and drive modes (e. G. , eco, sport) stopped working and we got the following error message: [see steering assist fault - service required] we called the dealership in georgia, which is far from our home, and they advised us to take it to one closer to us; the problem would be covered under warranty. We made the first available appointment with the dealership in havana FL and took our vehicle in on July 11th. We showed the photo saying "service required" and explained that every morning the drive modes don't work and the power steering usually does not work right away. We have to re-start the vehicle to get the power steering to work, but the drive modes don't work until later in the day (usually). We get the error messages shown repeatedly below saying "drive mode not available. " despite the service department at the dealership saying they identified the malfunctioning part, Ford sent us away without approving a warranty repair—citing a policy that because the service personnel could not report a computer code for the part, Ford will not pay to fix it. The problem continues and we continue to provide photos to Ford and ask them to fix this problem for us and for anyone else who is experiencing it.

Steering problem #20
