Was driving on the highway, when the vehicle popped up the message and it caused either the emergency brake or the automatic collision detection brake to engage. It turned of when I applied gas. The brake issues remain, when I restarted the vehicle after 15 minutes of being off, no brake error was detected evening after pumping the brakes.

While on interstate 485 charlotte nc, traveling with adaptive cruise control on at 73mph the brake light came in with a message to check brake system. I proceeded to apply the brake but was hard and unable to slow down. On my second attempt it worked then became normal. The Bronco is at the dealer now for repair. And they found a faulty vacuum hose. Waiting for new hose to arrive at dealer.

When driving or breaking at slower speeds, the car feels as if the transmission is “slipping” and the car jerks forward. The same thing happens when braking the car.
Parking brake fault service now came on. Took to dealer and no codes stored. Looked on google and multiple people are having same issue. Ford needs to look into this as it may not be safe to drive.
Four hours into a drive today, going down a fairly steep hill @ ~30mph into a 4 point intersection my Bronco lost all power, brakes and steering. I mean it had nothing. We barely made it thru the intersection because the cars coming directly at us slammed brakes. I had no control and went off the road into someone’s yard, barely missing their fence. It was the scariest thing we’ve ever encountered. My son in the back screaming stop at the top of his lungs is burned in my brain. What makes all of this worse is that Ford just had it in the shop for 3 days because the week before when they had my Bronco in the shop for yearly inspection/oil change and under their care it had the first symptoms of this issue. I received an app notice of a battery failure and at their request because of this new issue they wanted my car for a “longer look” the following week. Today was first time driving it since they handed it back to me (I use the valet service that picks up and drops it back to me). Ford could come back and say they will give us a new car and there’s no way I can ever convince my wife to get back in this car. She was absolutely freaked out as the cars coming towards us would have drilled her door. It took Ford 4 hours to come 17 miles to tow us (probably a contractor) to the local Ford dealer that was closed by the time it arrived. We had to uber to enterprise and then drive the rental home four hours.

Nearly every time I operate my vehicle I get a brake warning pop up on my instrument cluster. It definately happens every time cruise control is activated.
Not exactly sure how it started to happen. Meaning there was a powertrain malfunction so my Ford computer tells me, which caused the vehicle to not restart and in addition to it not restarting, the vehicle also didn't have brakes, so it simply rolled backwards without any control until I hit a tree to stop me. On the way down, I also hit the bumper and damaged it and also hit the driver's side mirror on a rock on the way down.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle immediately. The brake pedal was extremely stiff while depressed. The brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle struck a speed sign, causing the front driver's side mirror to shatter, and glass shards flew inside the vehicle, cutting the contact's son's left hand and arm. Medical attention was not received. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the brake vacuum hoses, front driver's side mirror, and quarter panel needed to be replaced. Only the brake vacuum hoses were replaced by the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the accident, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the same issue; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 20,553.
Upon driving the vehicle in the intended fashion for a Ford Bronco raptor, the vehicle has an issue where when advanced track is set as disabled, and the vehicle is shifted in and out of park, the vehicle will then turn advanced track back on while still showing it as off on the dashboard. This makes it so when you're driving it in off-road situations, the system will come in making the vehicle potentially slide or stop unexpectedly in terrain, putting it into unsafe conditions. The problem can be reproduced easily, but the dealer and independent service centers refuse to test the vehicle in the state.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that with the cruise control activated, the brake pedal failed to respond as needed with the "check brake system" message displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was forced to disengage the cruise control or depress the brake pedal to the floorboard. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
1. Component/system that failed/malfunctioned — braking system (electronic parking brake and brake control modules) combined with electrical/communication defect preventing storage of diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs). Vehicle available for inspection upon request. 2. How safety was put at risk — repeated "park brake fault – service now" and "brake system fault" warnings on dash while driving risk sudden loss of parking brake function, reduced braking, or unexpected behavior (e. G. , transmission no-engagement beyond walking pace after cold start), impairing safe stopping/control and endangering driver and others. 3. Problem reproduced/confirmed by dealer — yes — reproduced/confirmed multiple times by authorized Ford dealer (town & country Ford, evansville, in) across five visits (invoices attached): active brake faults visible on dash during service, yet "no codes found," "unable to verify," "np no problem found. " examples: [xxx] (30,113 mi) brake fault while driving; [xxx]intermittent parking brake light, no codes; [xxx] transmission slip and brake fault, no codes. 4. Inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, or others — inspected only by dealer. Ford cx team contacted (crm [xxx] , July 2025) but no further inspection/resolution. No police or insurance inspections. 5. Warning lamps/messages prior to failure and when first appeared — "park brake error message" and "park brake fault" warnings first documented ~25,722 miles (early visits after [xxx] purchase at 13 miles). No-dtc retention defect prevented earlier alerts/diagnosis. Symptoms escalated (transmission slip, cold no-start die-out, brake faults recurring). 6. Additional notes — out of service >60 cumulative days; loaner restricted to local driving only when provided. Part of indiana lemon law claim (bbb auto line case [xxx]). Due to 10-file/10mb upload limit, core documents attached; additional photos, full invoices, loaner agreement, bbb correspondence available upon request. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S.
When engine is cold and I go down a hill to a stop sign and apply the brakes , the brakes begin to engage almost fully then release and the Bronco lurches forward 6-8" and then the brakes grab and slam the car to a stop. This only happens on an incline and when the engine is cold or has sat for awhile. The brake pedal is fully depressed and when the Bronco rolls forward, there is nothing to do to stop it since the pedal is already fully engaged. I have taken it to the dealer numerous times to diagnose, but since there is not a hill or incline near them, they are not able to reproduce the same issue. I have videos of this happening and it is a known problem that has been diagnosed in the Ford Bronco online forums. The dealer suggested I call Ford service to report the issue and I started a case complaint. There are no warning messages or codes that are present that the dealer can find to explain the problem. The car is not safe to rely on due to the brake system currently and the dealer nor Ford corporate will do anything but document my issue.
The electric parking brake sensor warning appears on the dashboard. It is a warning light that appears and stays on the dashboard. After a few days it will go away. Recently the "red" electric parking brake sensor warning has popped up displaying "parking brake failure, service now" and continues to flash. There is a feeling in the gas pedal of the emergency brake wanting to engage while driving. The issue has been unable to be diagnosed as it is an intermittent malfunction warning light. It is currently with the Ford dealer to find the issue.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the brakes unintendedly engaged. The contact stated that the brakes were intermittently engaged even though the brake pedal was not depressed. The message "check braking system" was displayed on the instrument panel. The failure had occurred several times. The contact researched and was made aware of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v488000 (service brakes, hydraulic), 25v823000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer stated that without a fault code, the vehicle could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that dealers were independent. No additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
Two different times, my brakes have lost power. Both times were at slower speeds while coasting. The first time a car pulled out in front of me (about 50 feet ahead) and even though I was only going about 15 miles per hour I was barely able to stop in time. When I hit the brake pedal it felt rock hard (like when you pump the brakes with the engine off). The pedal did not go to the floor or anything like that. It stayed high in the stroke. No abs sensation or warning lights. The next time I hit the brakes they worked normally. I couldn't reproduce the problem until about 2 months later I was leaving work and was pulling up the street at about 5 miles per hour when it did the same thing. It was almost flat ground and it was all I could do to press the brake pedal hard enough to stop in time. The symptoms were the same as the first time. The moment I hit the brake pedal again, all was normal. The weather was warm both times. The dealer cannot reproduce the problem.
1st issue: antilock brake failure brand new 2022 Bronco purchased mid Dec with around 2000 miles in February the brakes failed to stop with the pedal to the floor at traffic light and finally all 4 wheels locked up skidding into traffic. Luckily no accident. Repaired took 3 weeks to get the part. 2nd issue: may 1st powertrain malfunction at 3000 miles pulled up to a stop sign the engine shut off. Finally after 30 minutes the engine started back. Drove it straight to Ford service dept. Telling me today the part they need is on indefinite backorder. Prior to the failure no lights came on, but the Ford pass app showed them. Powertrain malfunction, antilock fault, hill assist warning, and pre collision assist not available. Dealership thought is an app issue and couldn’t repair unless the lights came on. In both cases the warning lights came on after the fact.
2022 Ford Bronco has by default an auto engine shut off when coming to a stop and set of conditions are met. The event occurred to a manual transmission 2022 Ford Bronco. ~4/5/23, driver was driving up the canyon at an incline when encountering stop and go traffic. After stopping on the incline, the engine shut off per normal operation after shifting to neutral with the brake pedal firmly pushed. About 1-2 seconds after engine shutoff, while driver has brake firmly pushed, the car begins to roll back, with an apparent loss in brake power. Only after driver clutched in to first gear and stalled the vehicle did vehicle arrest in its rearward motion, narrowly avoiding backing into the car that is stopped behind. From an outward observation the auto start/stop is not suited for standard manual transmission operation when stopped on an incline. The roll back apparently is due to loss of brake power/boost when the auto-start stop function stops the engine.
I have owned my Bronco for a little over a year now, the check brake system light has been coming on the whole time. I have taken it to Ford 4 times now with no result of it being repaired. The dealership has no idea how to fix this issue. From reading other posts, I'm not the only owner experiencing this issue. Being its the brakes that are affected it is a serious issue.
Emergency brake failure. I have a very slight slope on my driveway. My car rolled halfway down my driveway. I assumed I did something wrong although I knew I had the car in gear with the e brake on. Two hours later I came back from an errand parked on my driveway was sitting in my car and my car started rolling backwards. The car was off in gear with the e brake on. I videotaped this happening every 20 seconds the car with balance, and roll back an inch or two. After 4 1/2 minutes, the car rolled the rest of the way down my driveway until it hit the street where it was flat. The car was in gear turned off with the e brake on, and nothing stopped the car from rolling. I tried putting it in an out of gear as this was happening and stomping on the break and nothing happened. I tried several times until it came to a complete stop. I have reported this to Ford. They took a complaint they don’t know what to tell me to do. They don’t have any recalls on my vehicle. This happened two times in the day. The second time was much worse. There were children riding bikes in the street behind my vehicle. I don’t know if the safe to drive this vehicle and the dealer is not able to give me any information. Ford customer service is not able to give me any information. I have video of this. I am not able to upload it to this site. I can email it or any other way that you would prefer.
While driving!! my brake pedal felt rock hard , I had no brakes !! the car kept cruising , luckily for us! vermont is very rural and roads was wide open with no traffic, I had some time to keep stomping on the brakes till I was able to regain braking power, this could have killed us!! if I needed to slow down I would not have been!! I had a 3 year on in the back and my pregnant girlfriend in the passenger, I almost shit my pants when I realized the brake pedal was unresponsive! I had no service !! we had to drive the car with intermittent braking just so that I can’t get some sell service!! I contacted a fire dealer that was 40 minutes from my location to give them a heads up, I was advised to call Ford customer relations, my case number is cas-41297357-h8t7r8 they towed the Bronco on Monday to bring it to that dealer while I’m here in vermont for about a week , I have no vehicle, Ford offered 40/day in reimbursement if I get a rental, unfortunately this isn’t 2013 where I can actually find a car rental for that price , cheapest was 90 per day. I posted this on facebook and was so surprised that this has happened to other Bronco owners !!.
During flat towing the ebb shuts down making the auxiliary brake ineffective, this a safety concern. Ford is aware of the situation, but has failed to address this safety issue.
Flat towing 2022 Ford Bronco with 2. 7 v6 engine. After connecting my Bronco to the motorhome and putting it in the tow mode the following will occur. About 45 mins after turning the ignition off and closing the doors the ebb (electronic brake boost) in the Bronco shuts down leaving the Bronco without any brake boost and leaves the supplemental brake system ineffective. When first connecting the Bronco to the motorhome the brake boost is active and the supplemental brake system must be set to match, or it will lock up the brakes on the Bronco when you stop. After the boost shuts down the supplemental brake system cannot apply enough force to the Bronco brakes to assist in stopping and suddenly, without notice, it takes a much greater distance to stop the motorhome than it did when the boost was working. Ford came up with a temporary work around so the ebb never comes on. This involves pulling fuses but you. Have to wait for 5 minutes after you close the doors for the vehicle to go enter sleep mode. To take the Bronco out of flat tow mode you must again wait 5 minutes after opening the hood and closing the doors before re-installing the fuses. When flat towing behind with a motorhome it is impossible to backup with the tow vehicle attached. Having to wait 5 minutes before being able to disconnect the tow vehicle is very dangerous in many situations.
This vehicle is supposed to be flat tow able. If I go to flat tow this car it will lock up the wheels during the first hour or so while towing behind my motor home using a supplemental braking system. I find out later from a forum online that I need to remove some fuses to tow it properly. I hear Ford is working on this issue for a couple years but how many tire lock ups before someone gets hurt?.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while reversing and attempting to accelerate, the brakes activated erroneously, and vehicle stopped unintendedly. The contact also stated that at 68 degrees fahrenheit or under, the vehicle failed to properly shift gear as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Brake pedal kicks back on our foot when stopped brakes dont work good lost brake fluid must pump brakes to come to a stop or slow down on going for a year now dealer drove for only nine miles they said its ok still have the problem - engine has lost power when hot - when it is cold on start up the motor runs rough and lacks power dealer has not looked at the engine problem yet -turn signals will turn when turning right when it is canceled it will turn the left turn signal on same thing going to the left it turn the right on on -all problems are still on going as of 10-4-2023.
Randomly the following takes place while vehicle is in motion at various speeds… hill assist warning followed by (in rapid succession) pre collision assist not available, antilock brake fault then the brakes momentarily give out then come back in non-powered mode which dangerously locks up the wheels when stopping system then resets itself Bronco6g forums have reported similar issues.
Vehicle reported anti-brake fault. Vehicle reported pre-collision fault. Vehicle reported 4 different hill start assist failures. I noticed the pre-collison feature did not work because the breaks never activated when there was a sudden merge into my lane going 65 miles per hour. The car says that the pre-collision feature is enabled but did not respond to a vehicle that came close to causing a wreck.
The 2022 Bronco is listed as being able to be flat towed behind a motorhome and the software allows it to be put into flat tow mode. 49 states require that flat towed vehicles over a certain weight have supplemental braking. When the supplemental brake system is installed in a Bronco with the 2. 7 liter engine it stops working correctly after 45 minutes because the electronic brake booster shuts off. This results in the supplemental braking system not having enough power to activate the brakes and can cause a serious accident because the motorhome cannot stop soon enough. Ford issued TSB 22-2210 to temporarily correct this issue but it simply disables the electronic brake booster (must remove fuses) and again leaves the towed vehicle with insufficient braking. Ford claims they are working a software update due out in September 2022, it is now mid October and no recall has been issued.
Bronco my 2022 owners manual pages 288-289 on SUV shows how to disengage in features menu the background esc controls for yaw in the trailer sway subsystem of esc. When a dangerious highway sway of a trailer occurs, this subsystem will detect yaw and apply brakes. It is reported on f150 that rear brakes will heat up and may fail. Base Bronco, for marketing purposes cannot be factory equipped tow package options, but accessories market tow hitch and electric harness. Big ben and others model may or may not have option. Cas38178902 was open and selling dealer has been advised. If brake start to heat up and seaze pads to rotors the base Bronco has no method to disable the trailer sway controls since the map factory was instructed not to enable the trailer tow control. Jackknifing may occur on base Bronco with afterfactory tow equipment.
Windows don’t drop down when opening the door, and they don’t rise when closing the door as they used to do it. Brake light came on and brakes look good no one is taking responsibility.
Kepts getting hills stop brake malfunctioning anti collusion failures ant lock brake failure.
I was pulling into a residential driveway and as soon as the front tires entered the driveway the pre-collision alert warning went off and when I applied the brakes they did nothing. I proceeded to roll 25+ feet and crashed into the back of a parked car in the driveway. There were people standing just to the right of the parked car I hit. The Ford dealer has had the vehicle for over 4 weeks now and all they've said is certain modules aren't communicating properly.
When set in flat towing mode the Bronco’s electronic brake boost (ebb) shuts off after 45 minutes or less. Once the ebb shuts off the Bronco’s brakes, which are connected to the motorhome’s brakes via an auxiliary brake system, no longer work properly and will not slow the Bronco. This failure then requires the motorhome’s brakes to stop both the Bronco and the motorhome and creates a serious safety issue because: 1) stopping distance increases dramatically. 2) the motorhome’s brakes could fade, while descending grades, leading to total braking failure. Nearly all states require towed units in excess of 3,000# to have brakes but once the ebb shuts off the Bronco is in violation of these laws.
-I bought the Ford Bronco to flat-tow behind my motorhome. (all 4 wheels on the ground) -per Ford this is permitted, they outline a procedure in the owner's manual on how this must be performed. -at least 48 states require a supplemental braking system on towed vehicle. -the Bronco has an electronic break booster (ebb) -when the Bronco is placed in the flat - tow mode, the last step is to turn the key off. -Ford has set a timer (30 to 45 minutes) to shut down power to the ebb, when the key is turned off. -after timer expires, the brakes have no boost. This causes any after-market braking system installed on the Bronco to be useless. -in these circumstances, the Bronco is providing no help to the motorhome for braking, causing longer braking distances. Also, if the Bronco were to become detached from the motorhome, the emergency braking system that should come on and stop the vehicle, would not work. Could cause injury or death by having a runaway. -Ford has been unresponsive in attempts to remedy the situation.
