Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problems of the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria

Two problems related to automatic transmission torque converter have been reported for the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem

At 19 thousand miles transmission was replaced due to a torque converter which need replacing. Also, at 42 thousand and 47 thousand miles transmission was rebuilt. There is a TSB dealing with same type of problem. Dealer has made repairs, and noted the problem was common. Please provide any further details.

2 Automatic Transmission Torque Converter problem

While driving, transmission jerks. Owner took vehicle to dealer, and transmission fluid was changed and filter was replaced. Problem was corrected. Owner also notes that torque converter is faulty.
