One problem related to steering linkages has been reported for the 1998 Ford Crown Victoria. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Two authorized Ford dealers misdiagnosed/failed to diagnose until after Ford's basic bumper to bumper (3/36) warranty expired. Ford motor company told me it was a "dealer problem" and further told me it was covered under the extended warranty but that has a $50 debt. This tie rod issue seems to be a problem with these vehicles.
