The contact owns a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. While making a right turn at an unknown speed, the rear axle fractured without warning. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 04v328000 (suspension). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

2 Rear Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2010

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. While the vehicle was being serviced by a local mechanic, the contact was informed that both rear axle bearings were worn and would need to be replaced. In addition, one of the seals was leaking. The mechanic repaired the vehicle at the contact's expense. The contact reference NHTSA campaign id number: 04v328000 (suspension: rear) but could not confirm if his vehicle was included in the recall. The failure and current mileages were 125,000.

3 Rear Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2007

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. While driving 40 mph, the contact heard a roaring noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The noise progressively worsened. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the seal and bearing failed and both axles were fractured. The repair would cost $732. The manufacturer stated that his VIN was not included in recall number 04s16, therefore, they would not be able to assist. The current and failure mileages were 96,840. Updated 01-14-08. 4 Rear Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2005

The contact owns a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. While driving 70 mph, the rear of the vehicle began making a rumbling sound. The vehicle was serviced by a local mechanic and the passenger side axle bearing was replaced. A year and a half later, the vehicle began to make the rumbling sound again and it was returned to the local mechanic. The driver side bearing was replaced. The current mileage was 62,000 and failure mileage was 38,071.
