2 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2018

My car was recalled for a faulty lighting control module and was repaired in June 2014 because the headlights failed. Today the lights experienced the exact same failure. Ford is refusing to repair it unless we pay full price for diagnostics, parts and service. I have found that another recall was issued for the same part in April of '17 but my car is not included in the recall. Recall #15s39. I can't understand why this recall repair would only last 3 years unless something was faulty in the repair parts or installation of the part. Please can someone help me?.

31 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2011

I have experienced total headlight failure on more than 20 occasions while driving at night. Some of the time the failures occurred in total darkness on interstate and secondary roads. The failure affected all lights, interior and exterior. I definitely think this constitutes a serious safety hazzard. On the first failure my son, daughter-in-law and baby grand daughter were being transported from the airport to my home when the lights failed on the interstate in total darkness at a speed of about 65 mph. My local Ford dealer does not want to address the problem and the total cost to replace the light control module is more than $600. 00 I learned from the NHTSA website that there have been more than two thousand claims related to headlight failire on the 2001-2004 Ford Crown Victoria. It appears that NHTSA opened a case on this matter in 2008, reference action number pe08066, closed it on 24 March 2009, indicating that the issue would be monitored and NHTSA reserved the right to reopen the case. I hereby respectfully request that action number pe08066 be reopened and that Ford motor company assume responsibility for the obvious faulty light control modules. Respectively submitted.

33 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2011

2004 Ford crown vic headlights turn off just whenever and come back on just whenever. It is the light control module. A very exspensive repair. This particular vehicle is a fire department vehicle paid for and maintained by taxpayers. Ford price for the part is $840. 00. Ford should recall the 2004 Ford crown vic light control module (lcm). Repair or replace this part. It is a hazard. You never know when the headlights are going to not operate.

34 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2011

Headlight failure of both low and high beam at all speeds. Intermittent failures beginning at end of March 2011 at approximately 92,000 miles and finally total failure in June 2011. Very dangerous if not in safe location to pull over or in middle of critical driving maneuvers such as passing, sharp turns, etc. Contacted local Ford dealer parts department and they confirmed no tech bulletins issued by Ford or other recalls, and cost of replacement light control module, or lcm, to be $511. Contacted Ford customer relations via their web site, and it was confirmed there is no warranty or other formal actions-considerations. Have owned previous versions of this Ford model, all for a longer period of time than the subject 2004 Crown Victoria model, 1982 Mercury grand marquis, 1987 Crown Victoria, 1991 Crown Victoria, and 1995 Crown Victoria, and none of them have exhibited this problem. Given that, this is a fundamental degradation in safety, in addition to a decline in durability and reliability. Understand NHTSA opened a case or investigation file pe08-066 in late 2008 which was closed in early 2009, so that would have or is not taking into account failures or related incidents that occurred afterwards. Have replaced lcm with new unit which has corrected the problem for now.
