Hood Latch Problems of Ford Crown Victoria

The contact owns a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria. The contact opened the hood, but it failed to open automatically. He placed his hand on the fender and the hood suddenly fell and slammed down on his hand. The contact sustained several bruises, cuts, and blisters. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The failure and current mileages were 56,000. Updated 03/18/08. The consumer stated at the time of the incident the hood was raised to the full capacity and vehicle was taken to the dealer. The hood cover came loose while the car was moving on the highway, but was caught by a latch at the horizontal position.

While driving my wife's 1997 Ford crown vic at approx 55 mph the hood flew open. The latch separated from the hood. The only damage was to the car and our nerves. I will have it repaired at a local body shop this week.

Prior to recall (97v-024) the latch on the hood released and slammed into the vehiicle's windshield while driving on highway (attorney for client jerome t. Linnen,jr). Yh.

While driving out of the yard and turning the steering wheel column, can hear a popping noise. Also, when driving on the highway and parking the hood latch popped open, and the dealer won't repair the vehicle, due to lack of any recall.
