Tire brand and size: pathfinder sport s a/t 245/75-16 put on rear of 2003 Ford e250 extended length work van. Bought new from discount tire. As soon as I got on the interstate I noticed the vehicle felt unstable. Was wandering in rear. When making a lane change is was really bad and felt unsafe as the rear swayed from side to side. Had them take these tires off and replace with a major brand and this problem went away. I highly recommend some one looks into these tires as I think the potential is there for causing a spin out or roll over.

I have been contacted by the manufacturer that these tires are subject to a recall (recall # 13t-012) and must be replaced due to a safety hazard. Yet these tires are on national backorder with michelin, and noone around here (santa rosa, CA) has any, nor do they have any of the other two series that michelin offers as a suitable replacement (ltxa/t2 or xps rib). And there are very few alternates that anyone can offer me. As I see it, I am driving on tires that michelin says are unsafe, yet they have no simple solution to replace them with another one of their tires that doesn't involve me spending a lot more time than I already have to basically do their job. We buy michelin for their name and quality, yet they are bailing on me as a consumer to make an alternate choice on manufacturers and/or tire distributors that I know nothing about. Thank you michelin.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford E-250 with hankook dynapro as tires, size lt245/75/r16, dot number: t7xd5jnh. The contact stated that when driving various speeds, there was a severe thump felt from the rear of the vehicle. After taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic, the contact was advised that the front driver side tire separated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to certified dealer where the tire was replaced. The failure recurred within a few months. The tire was replaced a second time. Later, the contact experienced the same failure on the front passenger side tire. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact that the failure could have been caused by a defect in the vehicle itself. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000. The tire failure mileage was approximately 3,500.

I own a Ford 1999 e250 van that has been customized by the sportsmobile company into an RV. It came with four firestone steeltex radial r4s
lt225/75r16 m/s tires. As I was driving in the left lane of I-505s (just n of exit for allendale rd), the tread on my left rear tire separated. I was able to safely pull onto the right shoulder. I drove (at reduced speed on the damaged tire) to the midway rd RV park at the next exit. There I mounted the spare. The tires had 22k miles on them and had been maintained properly.

My wife and I planned to take two of our grandchildren to the north carolina zoological society in asheboro, n. C. . On the morning of July 7 we headed south from central virginia on route 29. We reached lynchburg within an hour and noticed that the ride was getting rougher. We pulled over to the side of the road to check the vehicle. I visually inspected the undercarriage, the suspension system and the wheels and did not see anything out of the ordinary. We were concerned about continuing our trip and decided to turn back and head home again. I drove 35 mph with the emergency blinkers on until we reached a gas station near the intersection of route 29 and 60. The vibration had turned into a steady thumping as I had proceeded to this point. I visually inspected the vehicle again and noticed a tear along the inside side wall of the passenger rear wheel. On closer inspection I noticed that the tear was along the edge of the tread and could be pulled away from the tire. We decided to call aaa and have them change out the tire for us. After arriving home from our attempted trip we decided to replace all four tires with goodyear tires for a total cost of $529. 33. The attendant (mackenzie horn) at the goodyear service center, jenkins automotive, 1564 seminole trail, charlottesville, va 22901 (434) 974-6680 confirmed our belief that the tire was indeed defective.
