The problem presented as a "popping" noise as reported by the driver, whenever the brakes were applied. Upon investigation for brake system problem the repair station identified the broken spring. This coil spring is broken in several locations along the upper coil, with fragmentation in longitudinal and transverse body of the spring material. This could present a loss of suspension control if the breakage worsened, or occurred at multiple other locations in the course of degradation.
