Body Problems of Ford Econoline

Van is leaking fuel from a crack where it contacts the frame member. This van was subject to a recall beginning April 19, 2001. I did not own the vehicle at that time, but apparently vehicle was not leaking so it was not fixed. I do not have the recall number. I obtained this information from a VIN look up at https://driving-tests. Org/VIN-decoder/ vehicle only leaks fuel when filling up at the gas station. Once I stop filling up, the leaking will drip, drip, drip until it stops and I can drive off. Next time I will take a picture of leaking.

Driving on bestbuy parking lot, went over a speed bumper heard a loud clunk coming from driver side front tire. Drove home, stopped van, got help, while turning the steering to left, loud metal clunk from that driver side, helper on floor noticed that bottom bolt holding power steering box is going in and out, rusted on front and back of frame, this box should be mounted on reinforced brackets front and back of frame then welded to frame to protect occupants from possible separation of box and frame with consequent loss of control and possible accident (could be fatal when driving the vehicle). So, with the engine on, in park, if the steering is turn to the left, driver will feel and hear the clunk.

The contact owns a 1996 Ford Econoline. The contact stated the door latch would not release open in order to gain access or exit the vehicle due to the faulty door cable. The failure involved both side doors and rear door. The contact purchased the door cable kit and performed the repair himself. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Water would enter inside of truck and would short out entire electrical system, interior and exterior lights. Warranty expired.
