Wheel Problems of Ford Econoline

Was traveling on rt 80 near exit 123 in pennsylvania on straight road, at 65 mph, temperature of 75 degrees, dry, sunny day. We heard a loud boom. The inside rear tire (driver side) had blown. It appeared that the sidewall (facing out) had failed. The sidewall separated along a straight line from the wheel to the tread. Also, in that area about 10 inches of tread was starting to separate on that side of the tire - the tread separation was 'centered' on that sidewall failure. Fortunately we experienced no other damage.

1999 Ford Econoline 150, unit 1 was traveling eastbound at mile post 122 in the center lane. Unit 1 lost its left rear tire and pulled off onto the north berm before coming to rest. The left rear tire sheared of the axle. The plastic molding around the wheel broke off around the wheel well and the plastic molding under the vehicle cracked. Consumer was involved in a frontal collision with an electrical pole and the right front whell came completely off. Consumer stated the entire wheel assembly cracked. Nlm.
