general problems of the 2009 Ford Edge

On February 22 our Ford Edge exploded in our driveway. We had only been home 15 minutes at the most when we heard the explosion. The vehicle was not running. We went outside and the vehicle was fully engulfed with flames. It was completely burned down to the metal and did over $7000 in damages to our home. It was parked in our driveway next to the home. Again, the car was not running. We have contacted the Ford motor company, but they keep giving us different dates on when we should hear from them. We have not had any prior issues with the vehicle and there wasn't any warning signs or any smell of gas anytime before the incident. The only recall we received was about the airbag and we took it to Ford to have it taken care of. When I called Ford after the incident, the customer care representative mentioned a recall about the gas tank bracket I believe, but we never received a notification about that. We haven't removed the vehicle from our property and it's still there. Ford hasn't asked to come look at it. They only requested the fire department report.

I was trying to see where do I take my vehicle for the recalls I have 3 under my VIN number.

Vista sun roof plastic clips broke now sun roof will not close. Tried closing the sun roof and the plastic pice broke off and hit my arm. There are literally thousands of complaints on line about this same problem with the sunroof and it costs $1400-$3000 to fix because of 1 litlle plastic clip breaking.

Booster on car brakes no good, bought from car dealership less then 3 years ago.

Ford Edge 2009 stalling. Called customer satisfaction program and was told by vehicle manufacture date & place where it was manufactured, that there tno issues. Vehicle cannot sit in idle for longer then 5 minutes and stalls. Afraid to take on highway due to so many people having stalling issues. Obviously Ford does not want to stand behind their customer satisfaction. This is a 2009 and has only 109,000 miles on it. Cannot be driven without it stalling 3 times in a matter of an hour. As Ford is well aware, this is due to a faulty throttle body. They suggest bringing it into dealer for a diagnostic, of which they are fully aware that it does not show up on the diagnostic readings. Just a reason for them to charge you for a test that will show nothing. This issue has been going on for over a year now. Started out as a stall once every 4-5 mins, but is now a daily occurrence when the vehicle is driven.

The passenger door ajar lightstays on and won't go off and the doors will not lock. This happens when I start my car , drive my car and will only go off when I turn off the engine. In my opinion this constitutes a major safety hazard what with the doors not locking.

The car has stalled while in drive three times over 2 months. It has occurred while driving at 10, 30 and 45 miles per hour. It is completely unsafe.

Strong smell of gas in garage. Backed out , gas spot on concrete. Took to service garage. Gas tank is leaking at seam. Told not to park in garage or drive until fixed. Dangerous due to gas fumes and leakage.
