The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact stated that the rearview camera became inoperable. The contact stated that the rearview camera image appeared upside down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rearview camera had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000. The VIN was not available.

2 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2023

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while reversing, the back over prevention camera went blank. The contact stated that the “camera error – contact dealer” message was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 148,227.

3 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2023

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the contact became aware that the rearview camera displayed a blank screen or an upside-down image. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 25v270000 (back over prevention); however, the VIN, the make, or model was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

4 Back Over Prevention problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2023

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that on numerous occasions the door ajar warning light intermittently illuminated while all the doors were properly closed. The contact then stated that the navigation system and the rear-view camera intermittently displayed a distorted or a blank screen. Additionally, the contact stated that the theft system alarm started to malfunction and inadvertently activated. As a result, the battery failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the open-door sensor circuit failed, and the door latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number and transferred to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 151,193.
