The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, or while the vehicle was parked, the contact observed an abnormal gasoline odor in the vehicle. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power while attempting to accelerate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, a "turbo boost" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a fuel leak. The contact was informed that either the fuel tank or fuel lines needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,260.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while starting the vehicle after refueling, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle jerked. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while in traffic. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and exited the highway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fuel line pulse damper metal housing was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel line needed to be replaced with one that did not have a damper. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v002000 (fuel system, gasoline) or 12v438000 (fuel system, gasoline) as the VIN was not included. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 105,000.

The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle started shaking and depressing with the accelerator pedal being depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as designed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway and continued driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that both front axles, the exhaust pipe, and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was a leak in the evaporative emission control system (evap). The vehicle was repaired, except for the evaporative emission control system (evap). The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 12v438000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.
2012 Ford Edge. Consumer writes in regards to engine failure. The consumer stated the vehicle would rapidly lose acceleration. The failure was intermittent therefore, the dealer could not duplicate or, repair the vehicle. The fuel inlet failed, as well. Updated 11/07/2017.

Made 4 mile trip from home to church on christmas eve 2013 and upon arrival at church there was a profound smell of gasoline around the front of the vehicle which also permeated the passenger cabin. Contacted the dealer the day after christmas to alert then of the incident. The response was that they had performed an inspection on 05 Feb 2013 and found no problem and that there was no outstanding recall. I have a printed copy of the recall notice from Ford dated 27 September 2013 and the information is also on the idriveonline. Com website specifically associated with my vehicle.
Fuel leak 2012 Ford Edge, eco boost while driving my 2012 Ford Edge eco boost home from work on ca101 I noticed a fuel small in the cabin of the vehicle. By the time I arrived home (15 miles later) the fuel smell was overwhelming. Once I parked the vehicle I got out of the car to inspect the vehicle I notice a trail of fuel behind the vehicle and could hear "liquid" draining from the engine section. A large pool of fuel formed on the ground under the engine section. In total at least ~4-6 gallons of fuel leaked on the road and my drive way. I notified my Ford dealership, santa maria Ford (888)-440-7149, of the problem they said there were no recalls on my particular vehicle (VIN:[xxx]). As of 8:45 am pst, 10 oct 13 the car was being towed to santa maria Ford for an inspection. At the time of the incident there was a significant amount of fuel in the engine section, there was definitely a potential for a fire.
