Constant gas smell . Was told there is a fuel tank leak. Also check engine light came on and the codes that came up is for supercharger/ turbo boost.
At a speed of about 60 mph I engaged the cruise control. About 10 seconds later car went into limp mode. Had to acceleration. Was able to pull off to side of road and then vehicle stalled. Put car in park waiting a few seconds and was able to start car again and continue driving with no further problems. This same problem occurred about a month earlier. That event was the same except it happened just after backing out of the driveway and starting up the road at a speed of about 5mph. Was able to restart and continue trip without any problems. Researched the problem and read comments from other people stating the same problem. Never happened before these two incidents.
Had diagnosis test done and did process of elimination. Said needed ignition coils/ spark plugs did all that plus fuel injector and oxygen sensor put in bran new and check engine still blinking and car stutters. Only 10miles per gallon on car. You can smell fumes inside car severally. Looked on website and said this car had recall on fuel system/ gasoline. So am I able to take in to manufacture and they fix free cuz of seriously dangerous defect. Car could egnite.
On 8-15-21 as I was driving, I was suddenly unable to break properly and had to depress the peddle almost down to the floor to engage the breaks. This happened one isolated time one month prior but went away. I had the car towed to walnut creek CA Ford for service where after multiplier test drives replicated the problem, flushed the break line and determined I needed a new hcu because of a sticking valve. I researched the issue and discovered this exact issue was the subject of a Ford recall in 2019 but of other models not including mine. I called Ford to see if they would cover the cost since it was a safety issue that they recognized in a very large recent recall that was the result of over 25 accidents and multiple deaths. Ford refused to cover the cost. Nhtsa should be aware of this safety issue because it is effecting more cars than covered.
There is a partial recall on these model Ford Edge's. Where the brake booster and brake master cylinder are defective and cause the brakes to fill with air and lose partial and sometimes total loss of braking power. This happened to my 2012 Ford Edge sport. I bought new factory parts and had them installed by a professional. They went out again. It had to do with he factory of the parts. Please place a mass recall on this part. My wife and kids shouldn't get into a wreck due to brakes going out again. They already have totally gone out twice. The 2nd time my wife with daughter and my son in the car couldnt slow down in time and got into a fender bender. It wasn't serious. This time. Thank you. Also, another problem that has been noted by thousands of Ford Edge owners is the style of fuel door. It doesn't seal properly which in return causes a check engine light to appear on the instrument cluster. Please investigate this issue as sell. Thank you.
Takata recall I purchased my 2012 Ford Edge sel April 22, 2019. Today, may 31st 2019 on my way horne from work the vehicle lost steering and power. I had just passed a semi-truck on a small farm town black top road and came up on a stop sign. In the process of turning to the left from the stop the incident occurred. Luckily I was able to make it out of the road. After several attempts to restart the vehicle I had to find an alternate way home. *when starting the vehicle the engine did run however it sounded as it was "starved" or "mis-firing", there was heavy white smoke dispersing from the exhaust and when I would attempt to put it in drive it would die. The oil level is fine, the antifreeze is fine, it is not overheating and there were no signs or symptoms of an issue. This was completely unexpected and occurred with no warning. The vehicle is currently parked where it died; a half hour away from my home. I am thankful my 15 year old daughter was not driving when this happened and even more thankful that this sporadic activity did not result in a fatal or crippling crash with another individual. As I research the causes it appears this issue is not isolated and has been occurring since 2008. I pray it is investigated and notice is shared before the potentials become a reality. Please be proactive vs reactive and assure this issue is addressed for the people.
Retention circlip causing loss of power 2. 0l ecoboost engine.
On Monday 5/14/18 notice my Ford Edge 2012 brake don't stop the SUV will the pedal go all away down I think need new set of brake take to mechanic and installed the new brakes front and back Tuesday 5/15/18 my wife after driving to pick up my son in the school happened again the SUV don't stop for anything my wife have to maneuver the SUV to the side and hit the concrete column to prevent car accident . On new jersey and the other issue is for more then 2 moths check engine lights appear in dash take to mechanic more then 5 time is something with the fuel system no one no which the problem Ford Edge from 2010 to 2013 have some many recall with the brakes and fuel system and Ford dealers don't want to fix this recall issue wath Ford waiting to peoples lost lives to resolve this recalls .
Check fuel fill inlet message keep popping up on my dashboard, and my car putters when I accelerate. It's so bad I don't feel safe to drive on highways.
I started my 2012 Edge and heard the starter take longer to turn over and start the car. Within moments the check engine icon appeared. I took my Edge in to auto hobby shop located on a military installation. The service representative used his code reader machine to view code p0456. Which he said it indicated a minor fuel leak. He performed a smoke check said he noticed smoke leaking. I called my local Ford dealership to check if there were any fuel system recalls. They said there was, but not for my VIN. Of the 3 recalls out for a 20012 Edge, I only recieved one. Are recalls only for specific years/models/VIN's? how can I get my issue repaired? could my VIN be added to the recall if I had a relating issue?.
Engine came on and vehicle slows down or stalls when driving. Dealer diagnosed problem was throttle body #at4z-9e926-b and replaced it at a cost of $333. 23. Dealer and georgina at Ford customer service stated no warranty or "customer satisfaction program" coverage for cost. Problem is same as Ford escape covered in program.
I have this car in the shop for ptu x2, the sensors in the car went out causing the shifter and lights and doors not to work the breaks went out and now the cyclic converter is going out and there is a gas lick somewhere in the car or a viper lick somewhere and all of this started 3000 miles over the warranty and it has been in shop a total of 5 times in the past 2 years.
While driving the car shuts off and a wrench pops up on the dash. Lat time it happen my wife was driving in an intersection . Than 2 more times in a 4 mile drive . We had this issue before and had the throttle body replaced about 8 months ago and that worked till now. My wife is to scared to drive the vehicle and I cant say I blame her .
See attached document post to Ford. Our problems have been ongoing for a few months. . . . One repair after another. I have noted the date of the "unable to turn off lights"issue but have documentation for all repairs this year.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that fuel leaked from the vehicle when refueling. The vehicle was driven to the contact¿s residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 106,796.
Fuel system stops working (throttle body). Car looses power, pressing gas pedal does nothing. Must get off road very quickly while drifting. Very unsafe.
Today our 2012 Edge lost all power as we accelerated from a stop sign onto a main road feeding our neighborhood. The speed limit was 25 miles /hour so we weren't accelerating quickly. We hadn't even completed the turn when all power was lost and we coasted to a stop at the side of the road. Having heard of other failings like this we shut off the car and after a couple seconds restarted the car. The car ran the rest of planned trip around town with no further troubles. If we had been on a busy highway with limited safe areas to pull over, or in the fast lane on the freeway we could have been in serious trouble.
Driving down busy street I went around a bend and my Edge lost power. Everything shot down and the low oil pressure light was on. Several vehicles almost hit me as they were coming around the bend and I had no power to move. I turned on my hazards and called my husband. After about 10 minutes I was able to start my car. We were on vacation and stopped at a Ford dealership to have it looked at. They changed the oil and said it was fine. This happened again and I took it to another Ford dealership, they are 75% sure it is was a throttle body. Over $400 later I thought it was fixed. I made a turn the other day and it felt like my car was losing power but it did not stall. It was sluggish for about 1 minute then it was ok. I do not know what else to do.
Started having problems with braking hard pedal at around 63000 miles. At the same time the vehicle would shut down while stopped in traffic or while vehicle is in park mode.
Vehicle stalling while driving and check engine light comes on, pull over turn off and restart, and the problem goes away. Just like several other complaints, appears to be the electronic throttle body. Replaced yesterday in 15 min, waiting to see if problem is resolved.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the off position, a fire ignited under the front hood of the vehicle. The driver and front passenger exited the vehicle and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. Sg.
Car would lose power, run sluggish and shut off, when restart, low oil pressure warning comes up, drive car and warning goes off, check engine light remains on then mysteriously shuts off and car drives fine until it happens again, started happening periodically monthly then went to every few days.
While driving with cruise control set, vehicle going up a hill there was a sudden loss of power. The engine died (zero rpm indicated. ) a few seconds later, the "low engine oil pressure" warning was displayed. Loss of power steering/brakes. Vehicle was carefully maneuvered off the highway. Attempted to restart repeatedly. Engine would only run for a few seconds, then died. Had vehicle towed to the Ford dealer. No engine trouble codes detected. After sitting overnight, vehicle started and ran without issue. This is a definite safety hazard when a vehicle stalls at high speed on the highway.
The fuel filler door did not close correctly and the emission system sent a warning.
Fuel nozzle inlet set a mil light code for fuel vapor seepage. This is the capless fuel system. This check engine light has been on ever since. Any type of ignition source goes near the fuel door will ignite the vehicle into flames.
Gas throttle quit working. Car would not accelerate. Everything else worked. Engine would nor rev when accelerator pressed. See manual light appeared with a wrench symbol on dash. Coasted into parking lot and put car in park and restarted. Everything went back to normal. The next morning, the car did the exact same thing. Took the car to Ford dealer and nothing shows up on computer scan and they couldn't replicate they said it sounded like the throttle body, but couldn't confirm. I know Ford just recalled several cars this year for exact same symptoms and are replacing the throttle bodies. The internet is full of complaints of this same problem I am having on other Edge models.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that fuel was leaking from the vehicle. The problem has occurred numerous of time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that there was fuel leakage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.
In stop and go traffic at low speeds, the vehicle has stalled multiple times (11 times in the last year and a half). The most recent time in heavy, slow-moving construction traffic. Car loses all power without warning. Loss of power steering, very tight brakes, no acceleration possible and a low oil warning. I have to turn the car off and restart, this sometimes works, other times I have needed the car towed because it did not restart. This is a company car and it has been to the dealership multiple times, and only this last week was anything ever found to be wrong. All previous times the stalling could not be duplicated, and I was told either nothing was wrong with the car, they fixed a part they thought might be the problem, or I must have put in bad gas. After stalling a month ago, this past week a data recorder was attached and a defective oxygen sensor was found in the emissions system when the car stalled for the dealership. The oxygen sensor was replaced and they test drove the car. The stalling did not occur during their final test drives. I received the car back a week ago, only to have it stall three times within 10 miles two days ago. Almost was re-ended by a semi-trailer truck this last time as I was in the middle of six lanes of traffic, and with no steering, was helpless to move. Have stalled out in a gas station, rounding corners in intersections, at stop signs, driving down my street, and now four times on the highway during low speed traffic congestion. Having the car towed to the dealership as I am too afraid to drive it. There are at least four other complaints about this issue on the NHTSA website, and it sounds like very similar to symptoms seen in the gm recalls. Car stalls without warning in more and more dangerous situations. This issue needs to be addressed by the manufacturer because of its dangerously serious nature.
After one and a half months of driving my newly purchased 2012 Ford Edge sel, the brakes were hard and I literally had to strain my foot and legs to the pulp and give it all the pressure I could to get it to stop and to avoid hitting something or running into someone. It was the most horrible and stressful experience I ever had driving and especially since the car had been just purchased less than two months when this started happening. What a nightmare it was!!!!! the car is currently at the Ford place being repaired and has been there since Friday, July 11, 2014. They had to order a power booster and replace that and whatever else that was needed to make the brakes work properly. There is a lot they are not sharing with me and after reading other complaints and reports concerning this very same model, I can see why they are being so extremely vague with me when I ask questions. Another issue is that the vehicle is supposed to be a fuel economy vehicle and even though it doesn't cost that much to re-fuel, it sure does need refueling more frequently than I ever expected. I only do local driving mostly to and from work or to the local neighborhood stores and so forth, and as soon as I accelerate, I can see the gas gauge just going down, down, down. I am beginning to think with all due respect that for a vehicle that cost as much as they sold it to me for, I may have purchased a lemon or the Edge is just not all that it is cracked up to be. Highly disappointed and extremely frustrated. Now I can understand why I have heard that Ford stands for fix or repair daily.
While driving on the freeway we noticed a gas smell coming through the air conditioner. When we stopped on an off ramp, smoke started to come through the air conditioning vent. We turned the car off and evacuated. Within a few minutes the car was engulfed in flames. There is a recall on file that affects the fuel lines but it says Ford claims that our VIN isn't included in that batch.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, she began to smell fuel. The vehicle was pulled over and the hood was opened where she observed smoke emitting from the rear of the engine. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed as a fuel line crack under recall NHTSA campaign number: 12v438000, fuel system, gasoline. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while in the vehicle, fuel was smelled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where the contact was informed that the fuel line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 12v438000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 12,000. The VIN was unavailable.
My 14 month old, 2012 Ford Edge, has had numerous issues, some very serious! from the beginning, I have had issues with the sync system, the navigation system, and controlling the temperature. They have had to "update" my sync system more than once. I frequently get a "no key detected" message when driving. (push start system) the first time that happened I pulled off the road thinking it would stop running, and did $1400. 00 in damage to the car. (coverage was denied by the wheel and tire protection plan. ) later was told the car would not have stopped even if it didn't recognize that the key fob was in it. (a car-jackers dream!) I had a hole in my brake booster causing me to not have the benefit of power brakes. Found this out when I stepped on my breaks and wasn't stopping. I had the really push on them to prevent hitting a car. The battery died in 14 months. The latest is that the vacuum seal in the capless fuel system had a bad o-ring causing fuel to leak and vapors to escape. I truly believe that this car is poorly made. I'm just waiting for the next issue to surface.
