Shift to park message, not showing it is in park. Can only crank the car if you turn the key halfway and then shift to neutral to crank it. Once you put it back in park and set the emergency brake you can only crank it by repeating the process of neutral cranking. Car will roll away without brake set. Driving is a concern as I am afraid it might pop into another gear. My year 2012 is not in the recall that effects 2015-2018 models but it's the exact same issue.
While driving. The all wheel drive off and wrench lights up on the car dash screen. The car stalls and comes to stop. If I wait a minute it starts up. It repeatedly does this, then it will be okay for some time before it does again. I’ve. Had it at Ford garage, they say can’t duplicate or find anything on the scanner. It’s dangerous to drive this way. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the awd off message was displayed and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon shifting to park(p) he was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was occurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was test driven; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
My vehicle loses the throttle and stops on the highway.
First the master cylinder went, then the brake booster and now the hydrolic control unit. Eachpart more expensive thenthe last and the last being 2119. 20 to repair. The entire braking system, parts I was told should not break. I have been told, by a reputable mechanic that often when replacing the brake booster, the lines are improperly bled andair gets into the hydraulic system. Upon farther research on line into the issue, there are page after page of the same complaint.
I was driving home from work when my car suddenly lost power and started to shake. I was driving on a suberban street and was literally at a active railroad crossing when it happened. So I stopped the car. I was able to drive it slowly to a safe place to pullover. The car was spitting out fire chunks out of the exhaust. I had no idea what was happening. I had it towed to the dealership who explained the power train control module malfunctioned wich cause it to melt/seize the coils in 3 if the cylinders. I have a power train warranty but was told none of it would be covered? when researching this issue it seems to be a very common issue with this model of vehicle. Its not only a safety issue, but it's a known defect with Ford vehicles, not just my make and model. I am extremely upset bcz I can not afford the costs it will take to repair. I owned this car for less than 2 years. I take it it and have it routinely serviced. There was nothing I could have done to prevent this. It's a defect and it is a unsafe defect. I was in the middle of driving and it just happened out of nowhere.
I was driving home from work, goin 45mph approaching active railroad crossing, my vehicle started to misfire & went from 40- 20 mph, luckily I stopped before the tracks bcz as soon as I did the lights came in for a train. My car could have broke down on the tracks if I didn't stop. So while waiting for the train to pass, I turned my car off and back on to see if it was just a random but it continued to misfire and when it was safe for me to tcross the trax, I was able to make it but my vehicle would get to10mph. I pulled over & had my vehicle towed to the ciocca dealership, which it has been for the last month bec apparently the power train control module malfunctioned and burt out 3 out of 6 coils. The repairs for this will cost me over $4000. 00 which is not something I can afford. I have a "power train" warranty that won't cover a faulty defective "power train control module"?? matter of fact, it won't cover anything at all to help ease my cost. And the worst part, I have only owned this vehicle for 1 1/2 years. Not even 2 years. This car was a issue from the moment I drove it off the lot and now since I can't afford to pay for the defective module. . . . The dealership says to me, I should just reconsider this car all together bcz it needs a lot done for inspection this month. . . ?? like I owned it for not even 2 years . . I have 4 more years on a loan that they won't pay off so I can but another car? how does this even fall on me when I was sold piece if junk with a pretty face basically. . I was out into a unsafe predicament due to a faulty defective module that malfunctioned in the middle of me driving with no warning what so ever. Ford and the dealership I purchased not from(not the dealership I towed it to) have been completely 110% unhelpful. . Like they won't even return my phone calls and when I call they leave me on hold for hours until I hang up and call back.
Leaking (ptu) power transfer unit on 2012 Ford Edge with 49,032 miles on it. There are multiple complaints about this problem and Ford will not refund the customer until it is decided that it should become a recall. Even the local dealership recommended that Ford be contacted for a reimbursement of the problem. I have a video from the dealership, but no photos.
I was out running errands and everything was fine. Left a store to pick up my daughter from practice and had to stand on the brakes to get the vehicle to stop at a red light. This was after stopping fine at the previous three stores and numerous lights I encountered. This issue continued for the next 15 miles of lights and traffic, until I got home. I did stop at an o'reillys auto parts on my way home and checked the brake fluid level, which was full. I have parked the vehicle and have been driving my son's Jeep for the past three days. I have an appointment to drop the Edge off at williamsburg Ford, williamsburg, va, on 3/28/19. I have researched this issue and evidently there is a customer satisfaction program announcement of a brake booster issue covered under an extended warranty (13n01) and have read more than 130 other people have experienced issues identical to mine. Not understanding why this is not a recall due to the nature of the failure being brakes!!!!!!! failure occurred at 69,536 miles on odometer. I have also recently had an issue with hard shifting from park to drive. I feel and hear a clunk when shifting and taking off from being parked.
While driving the vehicle sensor staying "low engine oil pressure" appeared on the dash, while at tree same time the lights flickered, the vehicle died completely, and tge steering wheel locked in place making it impossible to steer the vehicle off the main road. The vehicle had to be placed in park and re-started continuously until we reached the driveway of our home.
Pulled over in emergency lane on highway 3 miles from home. Stopped car and placed gear shift in park position and set flashers. On getting out of car noted car was moving forward. Rechecked to see if gear shift was in park which was confirmed by passenger. Driver on getting out of vehicle was unable to get back in with attempt to grab seat belt as leverage to get back in. Victim was unable to get back in and fell out of car resulting in car back driver side tire rolling over victim. Resulted in hospitalization with right side 8 broken ribs, t-1 fracture, punctured lung on right and multiple bruises and lacerations on legs and back. Resulted in chest tube placement, placement of neck brace, hospitalization for 10 days, wound care to cut on right ankle, inpatient rehab for 5 days with continued outpatient rehab for minimum of 1 month. F/u neurosurgery appointment 12/18/18 to determine removal of neck brace. Continuing to provide daily wound care to ankle abrasion that is preventing painless walking. Bruises remain on legs with swelling of left calf and thigh muscles. Have police report that verifies that gear shift was in park at the time of accident. Have pictures of bruises, chest tube placement but unable to download.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. When the vehicle was shifted into park, it moved forward and struck a tree without warning. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a body shop and deemed operable. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
While driving I lose power and can no longer accelerate. The problem is that the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed. As a result the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without warning. If this occurs, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brakes on their vehicle go all the way down to the floor when attempting to stop. Sometimes the breaks harden when being stopped as well. Even when stopping with all your might the vehicle will still roll. One occasion the contact was stopping the vehicle and it rolled past a stop light while their grand child was in the car. This is something that happpens all the time. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the contacts home. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic today. The vehicle was not diagnosed. However, the mechanic stated that a new break booster needs to be installed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 58,000. The issue is related to a recall. This is in relavance to NHTSA campagin number: 14v393000 (pawor train). The contact stated that they are experiencing the same symptoms as the recall. However, Ford is not going to fix the problem becasue NHTSA. Gov reads zero recalls for this vehicle. Jw.
While driving down the road and approaching a stop sign or red light the vehicle stalls and losses all power, no steering, brakes are hard to apply. This is extremely scary in traffic.
After pulling out in traffic on 1/15/18, going about 50 mph, my 2012 Ford Edge suddenly lost power and the wrench warning light appeared. I had to shut the car down and restart it several times to slowly get it out of traffic - each time the wrench warning light appeared and the vehicle lost power. Finally, after getting out of traffic I shut it down and let it sit for a few minutes, restarted it and this time the awd warning light appeared but my car is not an awd vehicle. Then the wrench light appeared again. Had it towed to the local dealer. They couldn't find any computer memory record of what happened and had their technician drive it home to see if the problem duplicated itself. It did not. After 3 days at the dealership they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and I picked it up and drove it home. I should add that my vehicle has only 26,000 miles on it. In reading these complaints mine is not the only complaint about this issue and Ford needs to figure out and repair those vehicles affected by this problem. This is definitely a safety issue!.
Vehicle suddenly stops going, no acceleration. Happens without warning, forcing you to get off the road. Must shut off vehicle and restart. Creates a very hazardous situation where you can be traveling on the interstate going 65 mph & suddenly have no power! engine is running but there's no acceleration whatsoever. My warranty just ran out & I have less than 36000. 0 miles on this car! only happens when you're traveling which means you have no way of preparing & puts your life in jeopardy.
2012 Ford Edge rapidly loses acceleration and comes to a stop. The engine remains running, but the accelerator will not increase speed. It causes a serious safety hazard as the car will go from 60 to zero in seconds. Driver must find a safe place to pull over, (sometimes impossible) to stop engine and restart to continue on. Problem is intermittent. Repair at Ford says throttle body is the problem and it is happening on 2011-2105 Fords. Ford does not care and will not pay for the repair if you are out of warranty. This has happened four times in the last two weeks. Very dangerous.
I have this car in the shop for ptu x2, the sensors in the car went out causing the shifter and lights and doors not to work the breaks went out and now the cyclic converter is going out and there is a gas lick somewhere in the car or a viper lick somewhere and all of this started 3000 miles over the warranty and it has been in shop a total of 5 times in the past 2 years.
6/24/16 took car to dealer for check engine light. Repair $329. Indicated purge valve stuck open at times. 6/30/16 check engine light again. Indicated under boost. . . . Replaced waste gate vacuum sensor. $307. Returned to dealer again for check engine light due to hose clamp loose. Began experiencing door ajar light and interior lights that don't turn off. Returned to dealer on 8/15/16 and were told the turbo assembly needs to be replaced for $2500+. Could lose power and cause further engine damage if driven. Tried contacting Ford via email with no response. There are clearly safety issues and recall should be issued and repairs at Ford expense. Tired of reading of these same Ford issues but selective state and model repair.
I purchased my low mileage Edge from local Ford dealer. Experiencing periodic issue with car transmission lag or jerking when accelerating from stop, as at a stop sign or pulling out of parking lots. Took to dealer several times, they can't duplicate issue, no codes. More recently the backup camera has intermittently failed. No backup guidelines are present, sometimes backup camera is visible, then goes black, other times doesn't work at all. Now my brakes are giving me issues. The pedal will either be very hard to press, as in losing power braking when a vehicle dies. Then the pedal may go all the way to the floor. Did experience something similar while in fast food drive thru, foot on brake, then brake losing pressure and pedal depressing to floor. I put the vehicle in park, then the "service advance track: light came on briefly. This vehicle is not safe and once I make a list of all of the service bulletins it's going to the dealer for repair. Last time I went the idiot at the service counter put that I said the vehicle "stalled". Never did I say that happened. I said there was a lag in acceleration and the feeling like a transmission jerking into gear. Piece of junk Ford, don't know what I was thinking buying it. All of these complaints on this site, amazing there aren't more accidents. Shame on you Ford! you used to make quality products.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning four months ago. The contact's husband replaced the half shaft, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and was unable to restart. The contact was unsure whether the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v393000 (power train). The contact was to check with the manufacturer for more disclosure concerning the recall. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The failure mileage was not available.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. While placing the vehicle in park and exiting the vehicle, it rolled downhill across the street and struck a tree. The contact stated that the vehicle would not register that it was in park. The vehicle had to be restarted numerous times in order for the vehicle to register that it was in park. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the failure and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
While driving, the vehicle stopped pulling. The motor was still running and started vibrating. Turned off the car and then restarted it. It felt like the car was in neutral. I have seen the recall on the halfshaft disengagement and am not sure if my car has had this recall fixed. This has happened twice in the last 10 days.
Three times in two week experienced sudden loss of power all in motion. Third time I was on the freeway ramp. Coasted/limped to hard shoulder. As twice before the wrench icon appeared on panel along with '"awd off". Turned off engine, waited a minute, and restarted engine. Everything now fine and got home. Took to Ford dealer. (Ford of escondido) they cannot replicate the problem. Told everything checked out ok. Could find no error reports under diagnostics. Told to pick up car. Left car at dealer! this sudden loss of power is a huge safety concern. If I had experienced this on the freeway instead of the ramp, I could have rear ended at 65mph!.
Sometimes when I put the car into park, I get repeated warnings to "shift to park". If I don't jiggle the button on the shift knob, my seat and other electrical components will not respond. I have to start the truck a few times, put it through the gears (in drive and reverse), then I press the shift release button several times then the warning stops and my driver seat functions to allow me to get out of the car. This is a pain and the dealer said that if the problem couldn't be duplicated, then they cant do anything about it. I have had the truck in 2 times about this - the transmission shifts hard into gear after slowing or coasting and then accelerating. Almost feels like I have hit something when it happens. I'm very concerned, having two toddlers in the truck. I also took video of the parking, shifting into park issue. I just want it fixed. . . .
As I pulled into the parking deck at my office (going less than 10 mph), I suddenly had little ability to steer, nothing happened when I pressed the gas and the "low oil" light came on. I was able to coast to a stop and just barely steer clear of nearby vehicles. Restarted the car and was able to back into a parking spot. Drove it to to the dealer where they spent the entire day trying to replicate the issue to no avail. I had noticed what I would describe as vibrations in the steering wheel prior to the incident (it's an approximately 25 minute drive from my house to the office in stop/go traffic with the last several miles on a busy interstate with my office just off the exit) but at the time I chalked it up to the construction on the highway and varying levels of asphalt. From my personal research online, most people who have this issue continue to have it at both low and high rates of speed and those who have had a remedy were only able to do so if the dealer could get their hands on the vehicle to read the code immediately before the car was restarted. It seems that the error code is disappearing when the car is restarted which could explain why the dealer could find no code on my vehicle.
The battery was going dead when vehicle left off and parked overnight. The gear shift is not communicating that the vehicle is in park and the displays would come on and drain the battery overnight. The error was mis-diagnosed and a new battery was purchased. The issues continued and the dealership states it is the gear shifter wiring. This should be a recall item, there is nothing to be done in normal daily use that could have prevented this.
This has reoccurred 3 times in the last 3 weeks. The last time it happened, I was backing out of my driveway and the car started jerking, wouldn't accelerate and the wrench light came on. I turned the vehicle off, waited a couple of seconds, restarted it and it worked great. The time before I was going about 55 mph and the car did the same thing. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned it off and restarted and it worked great. I'm afraid to travel in the vehicle. The Ford dealership said it's the electronic throttle body and will cost $400+/- to fix.
In stop and go traffic at low speeds, the vehicle has stalled multiple times (11 times in the last year and a half). The most recent time in heavy, slow-moving construction traffic. Car loses all power without warning. Loss of power steering, very tight brakes, no acceleration possible and a low oil warning. I have to turn the car off and restart, this sometimes works, other times I have needed the car towed because it did not restart. This is a company car and it has been to the dealership multiple times, and only this last week was anything ever found to be wrong. All previous times the stalling could not be duplicated, and I was told either nothing was wrong with the car, they fixed a part they thought might be the problem, or I must have put in bad gas. After stalling a month ago, this past week a data recorder was attached and a defective oxygen sensor was found in the emissions system when the car stalled for the dealership. The oxygen sensor was replaced and they test drove the car. The stalling did not occur during their final test drives. I received the car back a week ago, only to have it stall three times within 10 miles two days ago. Almost was re-ended by a semi-trailer truck this last time as I was in the middle of six lanes of traffic, and with no steering, was helpless to move. Have stalled out in a gas station, rounding corners in intersections, at stop signs, driving down my street, and now four times on the highway during low speed traffic congestion. Having the car towed to the dealership as I am too afraid to drive it. There are at least four other complaints about this issue on the NHTSA website, and it sounds like very similar to symptoms seen in the gm recalls. Car stalls without warning in more and more dangerous situations. This issue needs to be addressed by the manufacturer because of its dangerously serious nature.
Traction control activates for no reason ( dry weather). Resulting in total loss of power at express way speeds. It will deactivate ar some point but recycles several times. . Once car is parked and turned off clears it self. . Fo d can not find out why this happens.
While driving the vehicle losses all power and a power train failure error message is displayed. The throttle becomes unresponsive and you cannot accelerate. When the car stops moving, the engine begins to shake violently and shuts itself off.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that that the vehicle failed to recognized that it was in the park position and as a result, it prevented the seats from reclining. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the shift assembly casing was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure . The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 40,000.
On multiple occasions while driving between the speeds of 25mph and 80mph on european roads/highways the car loses ability to accelerate regardless of pressure on gas pedal. I had to pull over, luckily avoiding cars and possible collisions. Car displayed yellow wrench and "awd off" on left side display. Once in safe area I turned off the car, waited for a few minutes and turned it back on without immediate incident. This happened a total of 7 times within a week, however, after contacting Ford service stateside I was told to go to an italian Ford dealership. However, I stopped at two Ford service centers located in vicenza, italy and the mechanics will not touch my car due to the model not being sold anywhere in europe. The problem stopped up until this past week where it has happened again twice within 3 days at, luckily, low speeds and avoiding all cars/hazards. We will attempt to bring it to a local mechanic in hopes of getting the problem fixed as we are leaving for the states in less than a month due to military pcs orders.
After seeing the recent issues w/ the Ford v6 ecoboost engine, I thought it wise to tell about the 2. 0l ecoboost engine in my Edge. After owning the vehicle less than a year, I was driving thru a neighborhood at a very slow pace, I started to make a right turn & the car simply died. No shaking, no warning. Lost all power steering & engine compression. Turned off, restarted & all was well. Took to dealership the next week, if we cant replicate it we cant fix it. Last month, my wife was turning right slowly into a parking lot & it happened again. This time Ford kept the car for over a week trying to duplicate the issue, no luck. If we cant find it, we cant fix it. I was told it could be numerous things & no bulletins or fixes at this time. So my pregnant wife now drives a brand new vehicle that decides to die in traffic while turning, maybe in front of oncoming traffic,. I have read numerous complaints online about this same thing happening to other Edge ecoboost vehicles, but alas no fix. In the recent articles I have been reading it says the 2. 0l ecoboost engine has not been affected, I feel that is incorrect. I think Ford needs to look into all ecoboost engines & find a fix now or replace the vehicle.
