About a week ago my brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge limited became for hard to press. The pedal became stiff. I almost was unable to stop even though I was going extremely slow approaching an intersection that was very busy. I have looked up recalls on this issue with the same description and realize Ford had issued a recall on 2013 Ford Edges however only certain VIN numbers. However, surfing through multiple posts and forums I am finding 100's so far of people that are angry because Ford refused to own up to the fact the all these 2013 Ford Edges are having issues with the brake booster which is a major safety issue and should have no cut off period due to the importance of this defective part! I finally wad able to bring my car to the dealer due to the other mechanic's I brought it to are all getting an invalid read when they do the diagnostic test on the car. Now Ford dealership jarret Ford in dade city said it will be $1389. 00 to fix my brake booster. This is highway robbery.
Vehicle will not idle at the correct rpms. Replaced battery and alternator had everything checks by a certified mechanic. The battery light will come on while driving and the car will begin to stall out while driving. Cannot run ac or any electric component in the car. Really scary when you have kids in the car driving down the road and it begins to shut down but still going the same rate of speed.
I have a 2013 Ford Edge. Mileage approx 55,000 miles. All scheduled maintenance was up to date. In July 2023, while driving, car started to decelerate. No noises, smells or loss of steering. It was as if my gas pedal just stopped working. My dash had a warning to refer to owners manual. I thank the lord there was a break in traffic and I could "coast" to the emergency lane. I shut off the car, restarted it and everything was fine. Took it to my repair shop, they did a fuel injection cleaner and said. . . See how it goes. Cost: 150. 00. 5 weeks later, August 2023 the same thing happened. Went back to repair shop where they diagnosed I needed a throttle body assembly replacement. Tack on another 450. 00 bill. In both cases the power loss could have resulted in an accident with bodily injuries. My complaint about the Ford throttle body is not the first, a recall should be issued!.
Stability control system keeps coming on.
While driving in town car lost power and limped along. Yellow/orange wrench light came on. Pulled over turned engine off then restarted, worked fine. Manual said power train loss of power. Three times it's happened and Ford can't find code to determine problem. No confidence in car. If happened on highway at high speeds there probably would have been major accident.
On several occasions I have been driving when suddenly my car loses power and enters limp-home mode and a wrench flashes on the dash that says see manual. This seems to be a common issue affecting the electronic throttle body on Fords made around the same year. This has happened to me turning in the middle of an intersection and while trying to accelerate on the highway which could easily lead to an accident.
This has happened on at least 6 occasions int he last week. Most recently I was traveling on a highway at approx. 50mph when the engine entered a default low power state and the check engine light illuminated. I was able to pull onto the shoulder and the car behind me was able to avoid a collision by slamming on their brakes. Additionally, the car consistently presents symptoms of rough idle, rough engine running at normal speeds, and a highly decreased fuel economy. After pulling the odbii codes and some research, this appears to be a known problem with the car's throttle body assembly. The odbii code is p2111.
The engine light is on in my car. I took it to a repair shop and they said it had the codes of p2196 and p2198 a h02s heated oxygen sensor is malfuntioning. When the rep pulled up the codes he informed me they had thousands of my same vehicle with the same problem. I contacted Ford warranty and they said it was not covered. This is horrible for Ford to know this is a defect on their vehicle and not be responsible for fixing it. So I would like to launch this formal complaint. I will never buy another Ford vehicle again. The aip has gone out in my vehicle and I have had other issues that the Ford warranty has said did not apply. The vehicle was in motion when the light came on.
My wife's 2013 Ford Edge looses power while driving. The accelerator stops working and the car stops functioning. This has happened many times. We have called whites Ford in urbana ohio to check on recall. There are no recalls for this and the vehicle is very unsafe to drive. The Edge has 67k miles on it. Has never been involved in any accident. Ford should address these issues. We only drive the vehicle when necessary due to us not knowing when it will just loose power.
Tl the contact's daughter owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the service warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately 3 attempts. The vehicle resumed normal operation, but was towed by the insurance company to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that the auto throttle body failed and needed to replaced. The independent mechanic cleaned the auto throttle body, but the failure recurred. Ford of clermont (1101 east, w hwy 50, clermont, FL 34711, (352) 394-6161) stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The contact was advised to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
We have had our Ford Edge for about 3 years and no problems until a few weeks ago when wrench light came on and lost power to the accelerator. Managed to get the car over to the shoulder turned the ignition off and back on and everything seemed fine. It was then good for a couple of weeks and again did it 5 times the other day when I was driving on highway 91e one of the most busy here in California. This condition can put you in a very unsafe situation.
On 4 separate occasions since September 2018, vehicle has shut down without warning while traveling on major highways and heavy traffic. Gas pedal did not respond when pressed. Lucky to have avoided serious accidents. Ford dealer/repair could not identify or repeat problem, but clearly there is a problem.
My daughter left for work at 6 in the morning, it was minus 25/30 with the wind chill. She went to make a left turn on to a main state truck route and the car started to shake and shutter and lost all power. The engine light came on too. After the car quit completely it then was restarted. It continued to act up. A friend checked it and his computer was showing codes for the throttle body and sensors. It is now at the dealership. I called Ford and was told there is no recall or extended warranty for the issue. I was told they would note my complaint and if it is ever recalled or ok'd for and extended warranty then they would let us know and she could be reimbursed. We live off 2 state truck routes that are heavily traveled, but as she is a young female at dark with a vehicle that is dark and the road is icy and its cold enough that schools and places have shut down and people have died from exposure in this , I will not lose a child because Ford is to lazy to pull their head outta their keister and start thinking old school again and consider their customers. Fix the issue! don't sweep it under the rug because its easier than facing your "new style" vehicles have issues. I have no use for Ford. My expedition, my aunts expedition and her daughters escape all did this exact same thing. At this moment we are waiting to hear from the dealership as to what is going on. If this site allows me to update I will. She was going approximatly 30 mph and as she pressed on the gas peddle it slowly died.
2013 Ford Edge VIN# (xxxxxx) 58665 miles my wife drives this car and was completely unnerved when 3 times the car lost power immediately after a stop and then a left turn into traffic. She is a very careful driver and there was time for her to glide off to the shoulder where she shut the car off and waited. The potential of getting rear-ended by oncoming traffic is very real and she is now afraid to drive. *parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. While driving my 2013 Ford Edge at 70mph on the highway in traffic I received a wrench notification on my dash and the engine began to stall leaving me with no power to control my speed. As my car quickly reduced speed on a major highway I attempted to get over to the shoulder out of harms way. Once I was off the highway the vehicle began to shake and I powered down the vehicle. When starting the vehicle again I was prompted with the check engine light.
While driving down road (highway) car goes into a limp mode and will trust start slowing down and eventually comes to a slow crawl less than 5 mpg.
Traveling on secondary road and experienced sudden power loss. "awd off" message appeared on screen, along with wrench icon. I managed to limp onto the shoulder (thank god I was not on the highway). Car would not rev up or move. I turned the engine off, and restarted it. Everything seemed to be fine at that point, but I am very afraid of this happening during my daily commute on a busy highway.
Unexpected loss of power and wrench and parking shift messages shown on my SUV display. On 03312018 my Ford Edge sport awd 2013 surprised me when an unexpected loss of power happen during an slow motion in a secondary road. Unable to manage my vehicle I stop at the nearest gas station using the slope backwards in neutro shift until reach the gas station behind me. Then when stop I began to read vehicle book and shut down the vehicle as recommended. After 30 mins I restart the vehicle and the loss power disappear reason why I decide to return back to my home. When I enter to the consumer report page from my pc at home to request info for any recall for this vehicle I find out that a recall number exist for this type of SUV. The recall number is 14s10 since august2014 but I never has been advised. Few month ago I went to the dealer for a review of a problem but they did nothing and said that the vehicle was in perfect condition avoiding their responsibility to tell me about any recall for this problem. I still experimenting the same situation since 03312018, risking my life and the life of other people in the road as my SUV continues without losing power but taken the pertinent precaution. I still very worry as the consumer report stated that in addition this failure may cause the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake is not applied despite the transmission being placed in park.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While the vehicle was stationary, the throttle body malfunctioned. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal slightly and the vehicle rapidly lunged forward independently. Due to the failure, the contact struck the dashboard and was injured. Medical attention was not received. Hub city Ford in lafayette, louisiana was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
While driving on the freeway, car lost power at around 80 mph. My car would not accelerate when going up an incline and takes a while to pick up any speed. This happened on the freeway with my wife and my 1 year old which is extremely dangerous.
When I go to put my car I park and take my foot off the break the car will roll forward several feet or if I am on a hill it will roll backward several feet. When I am driving on the highway the car will just stop accelerating at 80mph. On several occasions I was trying to get around a truck and the car just stopped accelerating almost causing an accident.
While driving, there is a sudden loss of engine power, the engine light and wrench light indicator come on and the car slows down to a crawl with limited acceleration, more like idle speed. The situation happens 1x-2x per week. After turning the car off and then restarting the car will run normall. This has happens at random times with no other influences like weather. It is extremely unsafe to be in the car when this situation occurs. You are immediately put into unsafe driving conditions with the potential to cause traffic issues. Even more freightenin is you become a target to be in an acccident if others are not paying attention to you sudden loss of speed.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle did not move when the accelerator pedal was depressed. There was no warning indicator illuminated. While the contact's vehicle was parked in a garage, it rolled away and crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact came to a stop on a barbwired fence. There was no warning indicator illuminated. A police report was filed. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The vehicle was damaged, but was drivable. The vehicle was taken to johnson-sewell Ford-Lincoln (830-693-5577, located at 3301 us-281, marble falls, TX 78654) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact was offered a discount towards the repair cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was slowly turning right into a gas station when my vehicle died. The steering froze and nothing worked. Thankfully I was able to coast into the gas station where I put the car in park, turned it off, and then back on. It started fine. If I had been on the highway, I would be dead!!!! this is incredibly dangerous!!!!.
A yellow wrench light warning comes on the dash. When that happens the vehicle loses all acceleration power. You have to limp the vehicle the to the side of the road to turn the engine off and then start it back. This is a very dangerous situation when in traffic. I feel this could cause a wreck. I am concerned about my safety as well as other peoples safety. This has happened at least 10 times in the last 10 days. I took the vehicle to the local Ford dealer. They replaced the throttle body and informed me that this was not covered under any warranty or recall. I know that other Ford vehicles have this same issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle's speed reduced and would only accelerate to 4 mph. A wrench warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. When the vehicle was restarted, it returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (pines Ford Lincoln located at 8655 pines blvd, pembroke pines, FL 33024; (954) 443-7000) where it was diagnosed that the electric throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 866-436-7332 and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. Case number: cas12510115 was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
While driving on the highway (doing 70 mph) my vehicle randomly stalled out. I was forced to coast to a stop, pull over, and turn my car off and turn it back on to begin driving again. It later happened an hour later at a stop light while making a left hand turn and then again at the next light on the road. After looking up possible problems, it was found that countless others with the same vehicle have the same stalling problem while driving. This creates a serious and dangerous risk for drivers on the road. I have an appointment to have the Ford dealership look at my vehicle, however from others who have spoken on their experiences with the same problem, the dealership states that they cannot "recreate the problem". Thus sending the customer on their way stating that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Just 1 of the many forums where others voice the same problem. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the wrench warning indicator flashed and the vehicle had a sudden loss of power. The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted to reset the code. The check engine warning indicator also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer issued a technical service bulletin, but there was no recall to provide a solution. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Twice now within two days, my wife or I have been driving along at 20-30 mph through the neighborhood and the vehicle has lost propulsion. I say this because the motor stays running, but doesn't accept input from the gas petal. Service wrench comes on, but vehicle diagnostics come back ok. Turn vehicle off, cranks up and drives fine. The interwebs says its a throttle body issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving approximately 20 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle accelerated without warning and the contact crashed into a pole. The contact sustained arm, knee, and back injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed major repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. I was driving down the highway going 65mph on 3 different occasions when my car decellerates and I lose power. I managed to pull to the side of the highway and had to restart my car.
This issue started a little over a year ago. I would be driving on the freeway or street and all of a sudden my maintenance light would come on, my car would begin to shake/rattle and all of a sudden I could no longer accelerate. If I could, I would pull over, sometimes I had to stop in the middle of the intersection on an incline and completely shut my car off. I would wait a few seconds and it would start back up and run no problem. I took it into 1 Ford and they couldn't find the problem. I took it into a 2nd Ford earlier this year in March and they claimed they found the issue. I spent over $1,000 replacing throttle body and fuel filler neck, which they claimed had a leak in it and was causing the problem. Since then, I haven't had any issues, until yesterday. Again, I was driving home from work and my maintenance light came home, car started shaking and could no longer accelerate. This is a major safety concern as I'm afraid every time I make a turn in front of oncoming traffic that my car is going to lose power and I'm going to get t-boned. I've read on carcomplaints. Com that many other people are having this same issue. It's only a matter of time before Ford has a big lawsuit on hand. They better fix this!.
Car will stall and go into limp mode, yellow wrench appears on left hand display. This has happened twice within the last 3 months, once in the middle lane of a rush hour freeway travelling at 40mph. I was lucky to get across to the shoulder before I lost all momentum. No response when pushing the accelerator, engine shakes badly. Have to restart the car in order to continue travel. All research points to faulty electronic throttle body. Ford service center advisers agree but refuse to perform repair under warranty as there are no codes. The codes get wiped after restarting the engine.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. It was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new throttle body. The vehicle was taken to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 52,400.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving various speeds and attempting to accelerate quickly, the vehicle stalled. The service engine soon warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,000.
