Accelerator Pedal problems of the 2014 Ford Edge

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle delayed to start. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the check engine warning light would illuminate intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would fail to respond while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that she would stop the vehicle and would shift to park (p). The contact would then shift to drive (d)and would depress the accelerator pedal again. However, the vehicle would respond with delay. The contact stated the failure had been occurring increasingly. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond when depressing the accelerator pedal and stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the high velocity fuel pump needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 15v005000 (fuel system, gasoline) as the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
