From my personal experience and other Edge owner on forum complaints. The rear seat belt that inflatable have a problem to retract and get stuck. The seat belt is back ordered. I place an order to get mine replace almost a year and still waiting. There is a defect in the seat belt as lot of people complain of the same issue with the Edge. As a result the car cannot pass state inspection since the rear passenger seat belt do not pull out. This is a manufactured defect as several people have experienced this problem with their Edge.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v413000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the driver's side front seat belt was unable to retract. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment for inspection. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My wife was involved in a car accident with our 2015 Ford Edge on 8/7/2019. She rear ended a full sized SUV at a moderate speed as she crested a hill into stopped vehicles. The skirt airbag deployed but the main airbag did not. She also states that the lap belt held in in the seat but the shoulder harness did not lock and she was thrust into the steering wheel. We have more pictures upon request.
My vehicle came equipped with an optional 2nd row inflatable safety belt. However, they are extremely difficult to connect. Most passengers seating in this row don't use the safely belts since connecting them is so difficult. When a child safely seat is installed (convertible seat) it is impossible to connect the inflatable safely belt. I have contacted Ford motor company but have received no response. I firmly believe this is a safely hazard.
