3 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2022

Front brake hose (driver side) is heavily leaking brake fluid. The recall for the issue does not show on my VIN when I search it. Also the brake hose was never fixed and it still the old part on it.

4 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2021

I have had the front brake line rupture in my 2016 Ford Edge, had it replaced out of pocket even though it's a recall. I called Ford then to tell them they told me to take it to Ford to get it fixed the first of the year and they will reimburse me for what I had fixed; then they had me sit their and hour for them to tell me that they didn't have the part and they will call me when they get. Never got a call back and never got reimbursed. Then it ruptured again tried to get it fixed they told that I have to wait for the parts to come in after I got told they would have the parts the first of the year. They refuse to help me and refuse to get me a loaner. So I'm stuck with a car with no brakes that almost caused me to crash twice now.

5 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2021

Front brake hose leak. Left home and it was fine, a few miles later I noticed the brake pedal needing more pressure and going farther down each time I stopped. Car was slow to stop. I drove to an autozone and they checked and saw I had no brake fluid. I knew there was a recall and even asked about it a week prior at the dealership during a 60k mile service. I got it to the dealership and they replaced the hose with the same defective part - I got 60k miles out of the first one so I'm not too worried but they only changed the hose on one side so I assume it's likely to happen again on the other side? did not charge me and like the others, I'll keep waiting for the recall to issue a fix.

6 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2021

After shopping, I applied the brake to start the car. I heard a pop and the pedal went to the floor. The front right brake hose ruptured. I took the vehicle to the dealer who stated the recalled part is in "advance notice" and a fix isn't available. I was charged for the fix (with a promise of refund), but only one side was fixed and I presume the old part, which was recalled, was used to "fix" the car. After calling Ford, they had no update. Their recall notice (20s42) stated they expected the fix to be ready q4 2020, but it is not April 2021 with no update.

7 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Manufacturers case 20542 front brake hoses front brake failure possible, recall in August, hav not received recall notice by mail.

8 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

Ford issues a safety recall for front brake lines in August of 2020 and said there is no remedy of the issue. How is there no remedy? if the brake line is leaking the. You replace a brake line. I actually had an issue with this prior to the recall coming out, depleted brake fluid and couldn't hardly stop and intersections or lights.

9 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2020

As I was driving my 2016 Ford Edge, I went to stop and as I pressed the brake, it slowed at the point to where it should have been coming to a full stop, then the pedal released and was pushed all the way to the floor before it came to a full stop. The next few stops. . . The same thing happened. I called my Ford dealership and asked if it could be low on brake fluid, even though no indicator displayed on my dash. They said it could be a number of things. But as I continued to drive and stop, it got worse. Thankfully, instead of jumping on the highway, I took all back roads to that dealership. As soon as the tech got in the drivers seat and pushed the pedal, to take for a test drive, he told me this thing is not going anywhere. He got underneath, had me push the pedal, and fluid sprayed like a water fountain. he said he can see that the brake line had spilt. This was the drivers side (left front) brake line.

10 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2020

Pushed the brake pedal backing out of my garage and heard a pop sound, pedal went to the floor. With brake fluid I was able to drive to a local repair shop, though as I approached stop sings and signals the closer I got to stopping, the pedal would drop close to the floor and continue to coast until I stepped hard on the pedal to stop it. I was told (as I have seen in at least one other report on this site) that the right front brake line had a cut on it and had exploded. I doubt a road hazzard cut the line but suspect an issue with the part itself.

11 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2020

On 6/18/2020, while sitting in a parking lot my vehicle with the engine running and my foot on the pedal, the pedal suddenly went to the floor. Not realizing what had actually happened, I drove the 3 miles home; however, in order to engage the brake, I had to step very hard on the brake pedal and it took longer than normal to get the vehicle to slow to a stop. Contacted a repair shop, who removed and replaced both front brake hoses and flushed the brake fluid for a whopping $510. 03. When doing some research, I came across recall # 20s42. As Ford was aware this risk, I do not feel I should be out of pocket the $500+ I would also like to ensure that the hoses used to replace the originals are true Ford parts; as, according to Ford, the parts are not yet available for install.

12 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2020

One evening in may, 2018, took my car to get gas and felt the brakes too soft. When leaving the gas station, my brakes went to the floor. Put emergency brake on with hazard lights and was able to come to a complete stop at a nearby residential area. Brake fluid was added within minutes; all the fluid ran to the ground. It was towed next morning to the dealer. Dealer stated the brake line had a 2" slash; said anything could've caused it. It was fixed under warranty. On March 7, 2020, went to run errands. When I parked at lot, the brakes felt soft. When leaving the store lot, my brakes went to the floor, again! this time, I'm already in traffic; scariest thing ever! again, put my hazard lights and at barely no speed at all, turned through residential streets to get home safe. Again had it towed Monday morning, back to the dealer. I explained that this previously happened in may 2018. New invoice states: "left front brake hose leaking," and "inspect and found left front brake hose splitting/leaking; replaced left front brake hose, bleed brake system, test drove and ok at this time. " this time? I was told the may 2018 issue was the same, except that one was the back brake hose. And no warranty this time; had to pay over $500 for repair. Very disappointed that Ford hasn't made a recall on this issue. I travel 35 miles daily to work on the toll road. What am I to do when this happens on a 60-mile speed limit highway? I'm terrified now and don't have many options for getting to work. I read online that others have had the same exact issue with the same vehicle. If a recall isn't in the works, I'm getting rid of this vehicle, albeit our family car. My kid's 2014 Ford focus has had transmission issues for years. I cannot continue to hope that nothing happens, nor can I continue to pay this much money for Ford's mistakes. Nhtsa, please - find this problem!.

13 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2020

11/2018 - while parked in my driveway I pressed brake to start car, car jerked and pedal went to the floor. I pumped brakes and they seemed to be okay. Started driving and pedal went to the floor again when I was braking. Was only able to stop by pumping brakes. Dealer stated that a front brake line ruptured and repaired the line. Vehicle was 2 years old. With under 36,000 miles on 1/27/2020 while driving on a city street, I pressed the brake pedal and heard a loud bang and the pedal went to the floor. I tried pumping the brakes and heard another bang with the pedal going to the floor again. I was down the street from my home so I was able to get the car home and call a tow truck. I had it towed to a private mechanic who stated that both front brake lines had ruptured.

16 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

Front driver side brake line burst while driving (applying the brake during a turn on a city street), within the last 6 months, causing the brake pedal to depress all the way to floor and making the vehicle extremely difficult to stop (by the time I made it home it was hardly stopping at all). Ford replaced the line and said it had just "worn out" (though the car was just over 2 years old at the time and had under 24000 miles). Today (08/27/2019) the other front brake line seems to have burst (passenger side) again while driving (again while applying the brake this time at a stop light on a city street) and again causing the pedal to go all the way to the floor and making the car extremely difficult to stop. This is a hazardous situation and very concerning that it has occurred to both front brake lines within the past year, and all while the car is under 3 years old and under 36,000 miles. I am having it towed to Ford today, and no doubt they will say the same thing, and we will stuck with a vehicle waiting for another brake line to burst in the near future. . Read more...
