Car caught fire while parked and unattended! on 5/26/2020 @ 3:12am awoke to a loud pop. Looked out window and saw car on fire with fire in the rear passenger tire well area. By the time the fire department put the fire out passenger side of car was pretty burned up. Car had been parked in the street in front of my home for about 10 hours prior to the fire and there was no evidence of foul play.
My car had been parked for three days without moving or other use. I walked past the back and saw that the bottom of the rear windshield had an alligator Edge (pieces on the ground), it looked as if someone had to tried to punch * on the right side, and the whole windshield was shattered when you looked closely at the glass. There were no holes in the windshield and no sign of impact. From the outside of the car. We live in on an acre and have security cameras so verified there was no vandalism acted on the car nor did any act of nature come into contact with my car. In looking, there are several people on the internet with the same experience, with the same exact glass burst patterns including the pop out spot on the right side. When I did move the care to allow the glass repair person access, closing the door caused the windshield to fall in starting at the punch out spot.
I opened the rear lift gate while the vehicle was parked and was loading stuff into the back of vehicle; either I accidentally hit the key fob in my pocket or my foot triggered the automatic open/close sensor and the liftgate began closing on me and would not stop even once it felt pressure from hitting an object (me). I barely squeezed out of the way before it slammed shut; this has happened to me on several occasions now and is going to kill someone!.
Error code p1450.
I was siting at a red light and the back glass exploded. Nothing hit the car, the window just shattered.
Power lift gate will not open sometimes. You have to go to the computer, disable the liftgate and enable the liftgate. Sometimes you have to do it twice. Found the temp fix on google. My Ford dealer knows nothing about the problem.
Can't get the lift gate to open.
While driving the brakes failed, pedal went to the floor and I could not stop. Dealer said front brake lines had failed, one burst and the other had a large bubble in the line. Vehicle has 40,000 miles on it. Second problem is with computer screen, while driving all the systems connected to the computer start failing one after another, affecting safety systems controlled by the computer. When dealer repaired it they said the interface to the computer screen was defective.
Internal leak from oil valve/switch allowed fumes to leak into the car for months and months and exposed the driver to toxins; blood work revealed high levels of mtbs; symptoms include extreme exhaustion, vision and cognitive problems, balance issues itchy skin, and more. First, the fumes should never leak into the car, second, the Ford service department said it was ok to drive while they ordered a part, and it was not ok to drive because it was poisoning the driver. The car has now been fixed, the driver's recovery is ongoing.
When flat towing behind RV vehicle goes into a wobble. Only way to stop the wobble is to come to a complete stop. Happened when entering road from shoulder also on a rough uneven road. Happened at slow speed 10 to 20 mph.
The rear window of my Edge exploded with no one in the vehicle'. My wife remote started the car, then later she went out to get the newspaper and go shopping when she noticed glass on the ground behind the car. Thinking it was vandalized we called the police. Upon the patrolman's examination he noted that it looks like it was broken from the inside! I agreed. The vehicle was parked in my driveway and was locked.
Ford Edge sel 2016 VIN * 2fmpk3j8xgbb08791 22,500 miles since I acquired it it(he,she) has a problem of when I am travelling a highway and the speed comes to 60 mph the engine is in discharge revolutionize raising a hill an evil enters(approaches) smell of gases of the interior of the car, I have to reduce the speed and open crystals of the car in order that the smell goes out and could be breathed well. I it have taken in 3 occasions two workshops authorized by Ford for guarantee and they cannot find anything, they me inform that the computer does not reflect anything. The last occasion I asked them to realize a test(proof) of road with a scanner and they refused.
Car driving at 55-70 mph straight line down highway and suddenly dies. Car still has accessory power, hit hazard lights and tried to coast to side of road without getting hit. Upon stopping car will immediately restart. Yellow wrench lights up on dash.
Car was parked, running, in a driveway while I was sitting it in. It came out of park and started rolling backward.
The automatic tailgate unexpected closes on your head, there is no safety feature if you are underneath the tailgate!.
I bought that SUV on 12/9/16. On 17/1/17 I delivered (dealer) it for repair, I mean, to function for first time the interior (soffit) lights. On 21/2/17 they delivered (to me) the unit, after installed a new fuse box (sent from the manufacturer). On 4/ix/17 (night) from the left side of the soffit began to outburst smoke/burning smell. At the end, the left side of the soffit and the base of the sun protector (with mirrior) were burned. Next day, I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they have it yet. I wrote a letter, with copies to the Ford ceo, vp customer affairs, vp quality control and dealer ceo. Later I file a claim at the local consumer affairs off. The dealer technician (in charge of repair the unit) said "that's an electrical flaw from manufact".
I'm experiencing what many, many other Ford super duty truck owners have been experiencing since about 2005 commonly known as the "death wobble". At speeds above 45 miles per hour, when the truck goes across a rough (washboard) bit of road or a bridge joint, the front end sometimes shakes violently which also causes the steering wheel to shake violently until you can bring the vehicle to a stop, which is not easy. This is a very serious safety issue, which could cause loss of control resulting in injury to passengers as well as other drivers on the road. In the research I have done, it appears that Ford has done very little to correct this problem for consumers. I have mentioned the problem to the dealership where I purchased the truck new twice now and they say they cannot find anything wrong and cannot duplicate the problem in a test drive. I have only 26,000 miles on the truck and the problem seems to be getting worse. Have had it aligned twice and tires rotated regularly. No unusual wear. My wife refuses to drive the truck and I'm not too excited about it myself. Will it take injuries and deaths to force Ford into admitting there is a problem and fix it?.
Car has died multiple times at high rate of speed. Dealer says no codes thrown. Used 3 quarts oil before 5000 miles. Exhaust smoked horribly. Deceleration issues constantly. Last time it died on freeway dealer said throwing codes and engine needs replacing. They have had vehicle since December 14 2016. They tried to replace heads and it blew up engine. Car has less than 9000 miles. Vehicle died multiple times on freeway. Deceleration issues occurred both from full stop and acceleration on freeway entrance ramp. Vehicle has been in shop 3-4 times since purchased in late August 2016.
Both back lights and back mid light compartments are not sealed . The water retains in there that creates electrical shortcut ,. The sales man said he saw already several cars with the problem,. My car had at least 1 or 1 1/2 inch high water was in there- all 3 back lights . Danger for car fire and possible explosion from electrical short cut from water in the back light.
Driving down the road and the vehicle suddenly went to idle. Had to coast to a stop on the side of the road. The car was still idling but when I tried to give it gas, nothing happened. I shut the car off, restarted and it worked fine. Approx. 10 miles later, did the same thing. Car only has 9,200 miles. I drive the interstate daily and this is going to be very dangerous if it happens there. Will be at the dealer at 9:00am sharp tomorrow.
Under hard acceleration there is strong smell in the cabin that smells like sulfur it has gotten so bad that I have to drive with my windows open and I carry a carbon monoxide detector because I'm worried about the fumes being toxic. I do a lot of highway driving so most of the times it occurs on the highway it also happen in city driving from full stop.
