The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle after refueling, the vehicle was making abnormal gurgling sounds. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 60 mph, she heard abnormally loud sounds coming from the rear driver's side of the vehicle, where the fuel tank was located. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle. The contact pushed the gas tank cap and the sounds stopped. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the check engine warning light illuminated while driving the next day. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the purge valve and evaporative emission control (evap) system needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start up after multiple attempts soon after a fuel fill-up. Once the vehicle was started, the vehicle would hesitate and even stall while driving at various speeds. As the failure persisted, the contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently stall during normal driving as the check engine warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective evaporative emission control system(evap) solenoid valve. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was given a case number. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA hotline for additional assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
