It was myself my son his girlfriend who is pregnant and her [xxx] son no indication there was a problem just heard a some kind of noise and it loses speed when try to accelerate it wouldn’t we where able to turn in to a gas station. I then cut the car off and when I tried to restart it the car wouldn’t start a week prior to this a wench did pop up on my dashboard when I looked in the manual it said that I need to take car to get looked at, at earliest convenience but a week. I have only had these vehicle seen December 2023 I paid cash for the vehicle and had warranty that was up to late last year the noise I heard sound like the same noise that when I purchased the vehicle maybe about 3 weeks later they had to fix something with the transmission maybe whatever wrong with it had something to do with that I know if we where on the highway we could have died I have had many cars that had mechanical problems but not none of them ever lost acceleration while driving my car will not start after I cut it off. Unknown what is going on with it just gave the details that happened on [xxx]. Before the malfunction the car started and drove fine until that noise and the car lost acceleration no messages appeared on the dashboard that day. We keep replacing the purge valve solenoid. There was a recall in 2021 but 2025 and now we have to change it within a week or two after putting the new one on. It has went dead going underneath a red light and just turning in the roadway. It is getting very dangerous. Help please!.
Every time I fill my gas tank up the car acts like it will not turn over and gives me a battery error. I have a brand new battery in my car and key just replaced both December 2025. After turning the car off and waiting then hitting the start button the car will start up then shutter. After going down the road it's fine and doesn't have the issue of not starting.
While driving through a small town +-500 miles from my home the 2016 Edge lost power with no warning. I barely got to a gas station for help. No fluid leaks, no smoke, no check engine light prior to fail. Was running great until it didn’t run anymore. Police checked on me and noted my back end was sticking out into the street a bit, couldn’t move it. Had it towed, got a hotel room due to how far away from home this happened. All local mechanics were booked 2+ weeks out but this one ran diagnostics sooner and suggested engine replacement. Had it towed to closest Ford dealer for 2nd opinion. They suggested same. I had serious (couldn’t start completely dead several times, no prior warnings) and not so serious (radio, seat, door) electrical problems earlier in ownership where Ford engineer came across state to recalibrate. I don’t have documentation on this but I think it took him like 4 hours at Ford seelye kalamazoo but it should be in vehicle history. With these two major exceptions (and no warnings) my Edge ran great. I feel we took great care of it, has zero rust, just over 81k miles and bought it new just over 8 years ago (as of this writing). Just replaced tires, rims, brakes within this year. Filled my gas tank full just before fail. We were told it would cost $2400 to tow it back home. Called Ford road assist for suggestions and relief and they stated that since it’s over 8 years and 80,000 miles they offer nothing. Bought it new on 6/30/17 and engine failed on 6/18/25 (just under 2 weeks of 8 years) and 1,336 miles over of any responsibility on Ford motor company. There should be a Ford customer service case number.
This has happened 2x where I am driving and there is loud noises coming from the fuel tank area and the car stalls. I am able to get it off the road. I turn the car off and it doesn't immediately restart. When I try and push in the fuel tank there is a lot of air that comes out.
My car was having issues and still is having issues starting after refueling. After putting fuel in the vehicle my car stalls out. I restart the car I have to give it gas before hurrying up and putting it in drive just to keep the car on. Due to a potential internal leak in the canister purge valve this can cause excessive vacuum in the fuel tank and can potentially lead to a crack in the tank, which can lead to a fuel leak and or fire. The check engine light came on reading one code. And because I'm unable to afford to have it repaired because of how expensive it is, I now have three codes coming off the check engine light. I smell fuel when I turn my car off or I'm running I'm running low on gas. My vsa light has also been on during all of this as well. I would gladly bring the vehicle to anyone to get it completely diagnosed by any professional of your choice.
I have 2 issues. 1. Cil comes on randomly I was told by my local parts place it had a code for a fuel cyliniod thing that purges the air as I do not have a gas cap. 2. Just started 01/10/2025,.
No warning lights before or after the problem occurred. Driving about 25mph with traffic heard loud noise like something broke then sounded like plastic was dragging, the engine was a lot louder. I got it off traffic and pulled over. Nothing under the car. No warning or engine lights came on. Dealer told me it was a fly wheel on 6/26 and covered under warranty. Said it would take 2 weeks to repair (July 5). I kept calling for status on my car with no call back from the service manager. I finally had to complain (although I was afraid to since they had my car), and they called on 7/12 said it's not the fly wheel like they thought, they said I need a whole new transmission. They don't know what cause it but maybe something broke inside the transmission caused damage to it. $7600 cost to replace it. Not covered under warranty. We contacted another mechanic who says it's probably the torque something (arm?) that broke. I paid what to me is a lot of money for the car. It also needed a completely new engine at 44k miles which was covered under warranty. For the amount of money I paid for the car it's crazy I have to shell out $7600 more.
For 2 months, now, when I fill my gas tank, the vehicle fails to start. After several attempts it chugs then fires up. 2 days ago it started to make a strange humming noise that would last about 5 seconds then stop about 3-4, then come back. Sometimes the hum lasted longer. Happened for a good 5 miles. Then, as I’m driving, the engine starts choking and the rpm gauge is bouncing. Then it sounded like it wanted to shut off so I immediately pulled over. I called a local Ford dealership. I took it there and the garage manager says it sounds like a fuel pump and scheduled me to come in this week for a diagnostic or code check. Didn’t say it wasn’t safe to drive.
There are times when I press on the gas and the engine bogs down and the engine starts running very ruff. I can only do about 2 miles per hour, which is very dangerous as I am in traffic on city streets and on the highway, when this happens. The only thing that fixes it is to pull over, shut the car down, and then restart. This has happened 5 times since I bought the car in December of 2019 and it is only January of 2021.
Vehicle stalls out while driving and then won't start back up for several minutes. Issue is intermittent.
The car has had problems with stalling for several months, when in motion both at low speeds and up to 40 mph, as well as at idle. Each time the check engine light has illuminated. It has given codes p2196 and p1450. We took it to the dealer for diagnosis, and they said it needs the fuel vapor canister purge valve replaced. I noticed that Ford issued a safety recall for the focus, 18s32, for a faulty vapor canister purge valve, and have found much evidence on the internet that this is a common problem across Ford product lines. This is not covered under either the emissions or the powertrain warranty.

Ford Edge sel 2016 VIN * 2fmpk3j8xgbb08791 22,500 miles since I acquired it it(he,she) has a problem of when I am travelling a highway and the speed comes to 60 mph the engine is in discharge revolutionize raising a hill an evil enters(approaches) smell of gases of the interior of the car, I have to reduce the speed and open crystals of the car in order that the smell goes out and could be breathed well. I it have taken in 3 occasions two workshops authorized by Ford for guarantee and they cannot find anything, they me inform that the computer does not reflect anything. The last occasion I asked them to realize a test(proof) of road with a scanner and they refused.
Car has died multiple times at high rate of speed. Dealer says no codes thrown. Used 3 quarts oil before 5000 miles. Exhaust smoked horribly. Deceleration issues constantly. Last time it died on freeway dealer said throwing codes and engine needs replacing. They have had vehicle since December 14 2016. They tried to replace heads and it blew up engine. Car has less than 9000 miles. Vehicle died multiple times on freeway. Deceleration issues occurred both from full stop and acceleration on freeway entrance ramp. Vehicle has been in shop 3-4 times since purchased in late August 2016.
Vehicle traveling on interstate at 70 mph. Suddenly vehicle lost power which resulted in loss of power steering and acceleration, but instrument panel still had functionality. Had to coast to side of interstate with no throttle and came to a stop. Vehicle still was on but no acceleration. Turned off vehicle and restarted, throttle worked. Took vehicle directly to dealership were throttle body was replaced. Service states this problem has been common. This is a very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed. Luckily no accident occurred because of loss of power on interstate.
Vehicle has repeated delays when pressing accelerator petal followed by sudden bursts of power. While changing lanes on an interstate highway there was no response in acceleration and power was lost. Rapid, aggressive petal pressure restored power after 10-14 seconds. Crash narrowly averted.
Stepped on gas at intersection and vehicle power system stopped. Throttle and power steering went out. Drifted to side of road. Ford repaired and said it was the electrical throttle.
