Purchase this vehicle at 30,000 miles have problems with it since day one with the abs rear brake dragging I've done had two abs control modules replaced the abs control pump the torque converter because the brakes are tearing the torque converter out of it from all the strain. It does it intermittently. All of the repairs have been done through Ford they had to replace the when the brake rotors the calipers brake pads because of how hot the brake system is getting. The brakes will start dragging which will heat up the brake system and they will start putting herself in a bind. Four don't know what's causing it they said they think it could be an electrical issue that's causing the abs control module to go hay wire and I wasn't getting any codes at all. Except once and it's in walt's communication that abs control module a. This problem is going to get myself or my family or your family killed on the roads.
I was stopping at a yellow light and the brakes were slow to respond nearly resulting in a collision with the car stopped in front. I initially attributed this to wet brakes since it was raining heavily and I had only gone a short distance. I returned home without further incidence. The next morning my wife took the car and nearly drove into traffic after the car was slow to stop leaving the subdivision. I had the car towed to the dealer, they said the brake booster had failed and that brake booster part is on back order and wouldn't available until the end of October or early November. The car is 3 years old with 25,000 miles. I think the parts back order status may be the result of unexpected demand because of a high failure rate. The dealer said the part in question is a common component used on many different Ford models. I'm not aware of any work stoppage or surge in vehicle demand that would account for the part shortage.
I was driving the Ford Edge and the roads were a little slick so I was driving very slow. I was about 2 blocks from my house when I needed to engage the brakes to come to a complete stop, which happened to be going downhill toward a stop sign that intersected with a freeway off ramp. Both the brakes and abs failed to engage and I hit a guard rail across the intersection. This caused significant damage to my vehicle and was very lucky that no one was hurt. The "check brake system" only came up after I ran into the guard rail, which was also the only time I needed to fully engage the brake to come to a full stop. The shop confirmed that the accident would not have damaged the brakes.
Vehicle was traveling on a rural road when driver attempted to brake. Driver witnessed flames from under their vehicle when applying brakes. Driver had to stop the vehicle by laying it in a ditch and escaping the engulfed car. Post accident it was noted and shown a significant amount of brake fluid on the ground from the incident. Bystanders say that the vehicle was blowing flames out from under neath while attempting to stop.
2021 Edge- 2 week old car and when braking, car started to shake and there was a thumping voice. I got home, barely, to find the brake pads loose on the driver side rear. It was towed to the dealer and found to have a loose caliper that needed to be replaced and fixed.
