The clicktight mechanism is what allows the car seat to be moved in/out of the vehicle after securing using the seatbelt of the vehicle. Essentially, this mechanism causes the bottom of the car seat to fold up and allows the parent to unlatch the seatbelt to move the car seat. This mechanism is spring loaded and is supposed to lock/unlock by simply squeezing together two red handles. On my car seat, this mechanism has become stuck and does not allow the mechanism to lock into place & secure the car seat onto the seat belt. I am unsure of what is causing this jam, but I have only purchased this car seat on may 15, 2026 in brand new condition from amazon. I have not been involved in an accident, nor has the car seat been moved in/out of the car excessively (perhaps 6-7 times at most until the first incident on 8/25/2026).
