The contact stated that shortly afterwards, the vehicle returned to normal operation. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
As my wife was driving down the interstate, the car began shuddering. She pulled off, and the shuddering became very bad at about 30 mph. The car flashed an error code which turned out to be the transmission. 2 Ford dealerships recommended a full transmission replacement for $10,800.
