Vehicle equipped with myford touch system. System controls heating/defrosting system. This system has failed to operate properly on multiple occassions. Ford motor company is aware of issue and has not corrected it. Ford should not be allowed to market vehicles that do not have properly functioning heating/defrosting controls. These vehicles are dangerous and the issue is well know by internet searches. People rely on vehicles to operate properly in winter conditions. This needs to be addressed. Thank you for your help.
The ptu is completely gone and broken and must be replaced, costing $2,000 at my dealer. I have gone on-line and see that others have had the same issue with this make and year. I feel there should be a recall.
We have a 2011 Ford Edge limited which someone threw a 3" diameter rock at the driver side glass. It was noted glass was not tempered but had a sound proofing laminate in middle of glass. Produce large quantities of sharp glass splinters throughout cabin and kept window glass intact. My concern is that you could be injured severely by the sharp glass splinters from any of the windows smashing in accident. Lastly, how do you get a person out if trapped under water when laminate is holding glass together. What if you had to rescue someone and had to smash glass, you could potentially injure occupants severely!!!!.
The air condition stop working in my car. I had a new compressor installed 2012. The air condition unit still does not work they flushed the line and ran dye to see if I had a link and check the fans. No link in the line. I have had my car serviced by dealership and no one can can seem to find out why this occuring. During the day the air does not work, the fan is running and hot air is coming out of the vents. You can hear the fan click on hard when your idling at a red light. If I roll the windows down, the air will appear to get cool. When you pickup speed with the windows down the air begins to get cold, but once I close the windows the air stops becoming cool and hot air blows. It's been extremely hot and I can have a heat stroke and I have high blood pressure. I have to arrive to work at 7am while it's cool outside and leave after 7pm when the sun begins to go down. This is horrible to pay > $30k for a vehicle and the air condition does not work. I'lll never buy another Ford again.
The head rests on the new Ford Edge that I recently purchased are so large and lean so far forward that they make it very uncomfortable and dangerous to drive. They are so bad that some owners of new Ford products are just removing the head rests creating a real safety hazard . I have contacted Ford several times with out satisfaction. Our local police department has remove the head rests from ther new expolorer. Do we wait until someone get hurt or killed or do we take a very hard look at them now? I have tried to reverse mine but then you just as well remove them. I tried switching with the rear seat and they wont interchange. I am just asking that you take a good look at them and make a decision.
Driving and transmission drops hard. I this has happened several times typically when foot it off gas. Safety concern as the drop is so severe, sometimes it does this two to three times in a row. Vehicle tends to buck in extreme. Dealer cant "recreate" problem. Dealer replaced throttle body and motor on 5/19 still have issues. Vehicle will be in to dealer for 4th time in one month.
Various problems with sync/computer screen in car - side warning car coming lights go on for no reason , screen goes dark and black box appears in center including when in reverse thus blanking out center visual field of back up camera (see cameron gulbransen transportation safety act Feb 2008). All this began after Ford recall program 10b20 done March 29, 2011. It worked perfectly prior to that time. Car was brought back to dealer ap 2, ap 21, ap 27, may 5-9 and Aug 2 2011 for same issues. Computer works for short time then problems start again. I do have a photo in my phone of the black screen happening which was shown to the dealer. It is often too unsafe to drive and take a photo at the same time to collect better evidence of episodes so I only have a couple of photos that came out clearly. Also various other problems- phone suddenly unsyncs itself while driving - I made a call then tried to make a second call a few moments later and it had disconnected from car including all 911 service. While driving on road with no other cars nor objects, suddenly began ringing alarm and flashing that cars were coming from the sides and there was no one on either side and no wind nor rain. While at dealer past 3 times, detroit home office was called by the dealer for further advice by dealer.
The sync system is consistently locking up, the music plays when the dashboard states the audio is off, when this happens none of the buttoms work. I have been pulling over to the side of the road to turn my vehicle off, open the door to make the screen clear, this does not work. Then all of a sudden the sync system will re-boot itself and then it works again. The bluetooth system is always disconnecting my phone or I call someone and I can't hear them, to the point I don't even use the bluetooth anymore. When the motor is shut off and you open the vehicles door the screen should come up with Ford emblem. The sync system locking up incident has occurred 3 times and I'm fixing to take it in again. It's always been the same answer there was an update that needed to be done. It is Fords responsibility to make when a vehicle is sold new for $40k, that it works. Of course I still have to make my monthly payment to Ford, if this continues I'm going to look into the lemon law because this is ridiculous.
Service engine light. My 2011 Edge was 3 weeks old when this light came on one morning and stayed on. I was informed that they had to call Ford hotline for a resolution and they told them to reprogram the computer. 3 months later, my light came on again. I dropped my car to the dealer yesterday - same thing, had to call Ford hotline for a resolution. I still do not have my car back because the hotline hasn't responded. I don't know if this is a serious issue with my car or why the engine light keeps going off. It worries me that something is seriously wrong wtih this auto I purchased 10/15/10. I also have problems with the sync controls going wild - volume sticks and goes off or full blast - system resets itself on it's own and goes back to default screens on either side of speedometer instead of what I selected, etc.
Ford's sync system is a safety hazard. It does not work as advertised, constantly crashes and is a grave distraction for drivers.
Before leaving my home, I tried unsuccessfully to program the built-in gps to guide me to my destination. After driving approximately 12 miles, I stopped at a rest stop. Upon restarting my vehicle, the entire electronic display including radio, climate control, back-up camera, gps and other safety features failed to work whatsoever. I immediately drove to the dealer who informed me that there would not be a fox for this for at least two weeks and that all of his other 2011 Edge customers were suffering the same problem. Calling Ford corporate, I was met with even less detail about the problem. They pretended that I am the only customer with this problem. Although the vehicle is drivable, that is all it can do and frankly, I am afraid to drive it because I don't what else may simply stop working. Ford refused my request for a loaner vehicle until this is resolved.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Edge. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact began to smell an unfamiliar odor. A passenger began to feel sick because of the odor. The contact pulled over and 30 minutes later, the odor was present again. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 27,000.
My Ford touch voice commands that control hands-free phone, climate, navigation, and audio do not work reliably and consistently causing increased driver distraction and frustration either in parked position or at highway speed. Actual voice commands that work vary from specific command lists in manual (both v1 and v2) including supplement. The same commands do not work twice. Sd navi system with traffic alerts is a potential safety hazard in urban and highway environs. The system presents myriad traffic alerts. No voice command is available to select "avoid/ignore/details and should be. One must visually distract eyes from windshield/road to touch the center stack console display screen to return to navigation map. This is a safety risk and will result in traffic crash. Reported to Ford customer service. They do not seem concerned.
2008 Ford Edge - the brakes have a severe grinding/vibrating noise for the first 5-10 times I brake after the car has been turned off for several hours/overnight. This seems to be worse the colder the outside temperature, although this happens in all weather, either 50 degree or 80 degree weather. This started to happen around 10k miles and I took it into the dealer, they said they couldn't duplicate the issue and the brakes are fine. After it got worse each month and now at 18k miles I took it again into the dealer (sunnyvale Ford) and they duplicated the problem but told me that Ford has a technical service bulletin issued for it but they claim this isn't a safety issue so they have no fix. I checked and didn't see a TSB when I searched the web for my 2008 Edge. The dealer said I have to brake hard several times and then it'll go away but they said the issue could come back. The dealer said they've had this braking issues with many other Ford Edge's. Not just mine. After getting my car back this week I've noticed that the braking noise/vibration still happens. I'm concerned this could be a safety issue and/or defect that could lead to me not knowing when to differentiate brake grinding/vibrating noises from being harmless or potentially fatal. Also, I've read and heard of many other Ford Edge owners with this same complaint. Please contact me for any followup questions. Thank you.
2008 Edge purchased new in 2009. Immediately noted strange suring when accelaerating and braking. Conceerned about transmission. Notified Ford coporate when dealer said vehicle was performing 'normally" so concerned ceased driving on freeway. In sept of 2011, took vehicle to be serviced. They asked that I wait even though I shared ongoing concerns. Vehicle was given to me and told that all was well. At 32000, in Dec. Of 2011 engine light came on. . . Took to dealer who advised me they would need to keep it for some time and engine needed to be removed. 6 days later, I was notified that there was aproblme with the cam phaser and also something with cooling system. Other issues that should be noted is that the battery has been replaced multiple times. The car for no reason has alarm go off. Very much concerned that informaion is being witheld and that this may be a common issue with Edge and perhaps there is a need for a recall. I know nothing more at this point, but will be contacting all safety organizations for more information.
The 2008 Ford Edge's automatic transmission doesn't engage properly. When on any incline or decline, the car will roll when in gear. Ford states this isn't a "problem" its a "redesign". When the vehicle is put into drive or reverse, you have to hit the gas for the car to move, it doesn't start rolling when you let off of the brake. If you are backing up a hill in reverse and you let off the brake, the vehicle rolls forward while in reverse, it doesn't pull the car backwards still. If a child runs in front of your car while you're backing up and your head is still turned looking back and when you let off the gas to press the brake to shift from reverse to drive, that child or person could be killed. The transmission could also cause an accident in heavy traffic since you have to hit the gas and brake quickly. My wife was backing up in the rain and had to press the gas pedal to get going backwards and her 2008 Ford Edge accelerated too much and she hit my truck and after she had hit my truck that is when the backup sensors went off. There are many people that have brought this to Ford's attention and the possible dangers and everyone gets the same answer from Ford all over the country. Ford states "this isn't a problem, this is a new design and each of us are the first ones to have a problem and no one else has complained about it". Someone should seriously look into the 2008 Ford Edge automatic transmission before someone is killed.
I own a 2007 Ford Edge. I shoved a plastic ice scraper between the dash and the windshield. The windshield cracked. Clearly, the windshield should withstand the impact of a plastic ice scraper.
