The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side door failed to lock and latch securely. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2024

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, one of the rear doors unexpectedly unlatched while his son was sitting by the door. The contact stated that the rear door latches were not working as intended. The contact was able to safely pull the vehicle to the side of the road and close the door. A local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the latches were previously replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 159,817.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2022

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. Additionally, the doors intermittently failed to unlock, and the vehicle failed to recognize the fob key. The contact used the spare key to start the vehicle to correct the failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact was made aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 22v41300 (power train). The failure mileage was 108,628.

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2022

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while attempting to close the door, the door failed to latch securely. The driver's side rear door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with door latch failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear driver’s side door failed to latch after multiple attempts to close the door. The contact wrapped a bungee cord around the door and drove the vehicle to a dealer. The contact was informed by the dealer that her vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages) and the vehicle was left overnight for the repair. The next day, the contact received a call from the dealer and was informed that the recall repair would not be performed due to damage to the front driver’s side door. The contact stated that an attempt to break into her vehicle had been made months prior which left a hole right above the front driver side door handle. The contact was provided an estimate to repair the damage so that recall repair could be performed. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 117,400.

6 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the doors would not latch. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
