The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed high-voltage battery. The contact was informed that the high-voltage battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the battery was the original high-voltage battery. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty or recall. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
