There has been a recall on the engine for this car for almost a year at this point. The original estimated date for the parts to come in to be able to fix this was October 2023. I received a new notice yesterday that a remedy is not expected until maybe quarter of 2024. This is the second Escape I have had with engine issues. 43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2023

I am worried that this vehicle's engine could die, proceed to leak oil and fuel and combust, leaving a burning husk that should've been repaired three months ago. The open recall was set to conclude, per Ford, in October 2023. It is now new year's with no resolution. I do not want to drive a tinderbox.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

Metal-to-metal clank to engine. This is the last incident that occurred while traveling to my job in richmond, virginia and back home to fredericksburg, virginia on 12/20/23. I traveled a total of 100 miles that day. I have reported this same issue previously 4 times to sheehy Ford of ashland in ashland, virginia to the service shop associates where I purchase my vehicle. They told me to continue to drive my vehicle but I explain to them that Ford was suppose to have a remedy by October of 2023 but nothing happened. My car continues to get worse and my 3 year warranty to my vehicle is up in March of 2024. As a consumer I should not have to be put in this position. This is not only unfair but dangerous to travel on the highway. I should of been given a new vehicle and Ford motor company should be responsible to not allowing for this to continue. I am respectfully asking you have Ford motor company to furnish me a new vehicle or give me an additional 3 year warranty on my vehicle with no additional costs. This burden should not be put onto the consumer and even if they find a remedy there is no guarantee this will resolve the problem. I will be contacting legal counsel and patiently awaiting your response. Thank you.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2023

My family was driving on the highway to a sports event when the engine started making a high revving sound. We were driving up a hill at around 70mph and in response to the engine noise, slowed the vehicle to a stop and turned off the engine. The vehicle was towed to a Ford service center where we were told that the engine was completely out of oil and had been destroyed. We did not get any alerts or warnings from the vehicle prior to the high revving sound. According to Ford recall 23s27 and NHTSA recall 23v380, this is a known issue and could have put our family at significant risk. We spoke to many people at Ford but they denied warranty coverage due to "improper oil filter installation". We were without our vehicle for 2 months before we decided to have another mechanic give an estimate and complete the repairs. The repair was a full engine replacement costing $7,000+. Ford has since refused to reimburse us for the repair costs. The incident occurred on 10/6/23 with around 52,000 miles. The vehicle was purchased new on 10/24/21.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2023

We stopped driving this vehicle when notice was sent about the possible engine fire. We are appalled that Ford has provided no fix for this for 9 months (may 2023 to Feb 2024, the time of this complaint). We contacted a lemon law lawyer but there's no protection unless the engine were to malfunction. Tell would you want to drive your kids in a vehicle with an engine that could explode into flames without notice? we've lost $12,000 so far: $6,000 paying the loan + dmv/insurance on the Ford and another $6,000 for the same for a replacement vehicle. Cannot do pno bec of lien.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

I received a recall notice for my vehicle in June 2023 for an engine issue that could result in engine failure, including fire (recall 22v380), in which I was told to expect parts to be available for a repair in October 2023. I have placed follow-up calls with the Ford dealership and am still being told the parts for the repair are not available and there is no updated expected time for parts to be available. At this point, it has been about 8 months since receiving notice of the recall and Ford has no knowledge of when a repair may be available. This complaint is specifically regarding the lack of information and repair available regarding this recall.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

Ford issued a recall #23v380. I received a notification letter from Ford back in June 2023. To this date, Ford has not offered a resolution to this problem. I do not feel safe having a vehicle that can catch fire either driving, or in my driveway/garage. Ford needs to step up and either refund customers their money, or replace the engines in these cars ASAP. Ford has a bad product here and this is unacceptable on their behalf.

65 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

No incident, but complaint regarding Ford's untimely correction of safety recall 22s73, NHTSA recall 22v859. Recall notice sent in January 2023; thus far Ford (woody anderson Ford, huntsville, al) is totally noncommittal in terms of a likely correction date. Based upon data from this Ford dealership, corrective action could be as late as fall/winter 2023. Ford should be responsible for allotting adequate resources to this safety issue.

66 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

The vehicle still has not been serviced due to the dealerships informing me that they do not have the parts even though I received notice that the parts were in stock.

67 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2022

While driving phev with a nearly full charge and a full tank of gas in ev mode, when I came to a stop at stop signs and traffic lights, the car would buck once like a horse, like an engine misfiring, and would indicate drivetrain issue and oput itsself in accessory mode, and flash battery indicator light. I was unabble to shift or restart driving until about 3 minutes later and after multiple times turning the car off and back on. It kept asking if the car was currently being charged, it was not as I was about 10 minutes and 5 miles into my 75 min/ 50 mine journey. It seems odd that while driving in ev mode, electric motor only in use, that the car would buck/jerk while shutting off. This also happened nearly exactly 7 months ago.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2022

I was driving down the road and the car stated to stall. I noticed white smoke in my review mirror. I started to pull over and I got a warning message that said I had zero oil pressure and the engine shut down. I costed off the road into a pull off. When we got out of the car there was a fire in the engine compartment. As we were out in the middle of no where it took the local voulunteer fire depart 25 minutes to respond. In that time the car was a total loss. I did not hit anything in the road and I was drive around 60 mph at the time this started.

69 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

While driving on the interstate a fire started under the hood and shortly after smoke entered the driver cabin. Luckily I was able to pull over and get out of the vehicle before the fire reached the driver cabin. It is going to be investigated by a company hired by aaa, the appraiser from the insurance company was not able to find a cause due to the fire damage being too bad. The first warning message was engine coolant overtemperature and a couple of others followed.

70 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2021

The electric motor cooling pump failed and shut down the engine without warning. It occurred the first time on route 1 at night and about two weeks later it occurred three consecutive times as I was driving on a local street. I was able to restart the car but was told by the dealership to have it towed to them, where it remains now while waiting for the part to arrive (which is on national back order). My safety and the safety of others was put at risk when I lost all power and only through sheer luck was I able to pull over safely. This problem was diagnosed at the dealership.
