Service Brakes problem #1

Warning message appeared on dash as I was braking. Reduced braking power. I had pushed on brake pedal almost to the floor & missed turning at a corner. My car also makes noise upon backing up each day.

Service Brakes problem #2

Rear brakes squeak every time I back up in the cold weather, they have attempted to fix them, still not fixed. Then when driving about 10 mph and coming to a stop, brakes will all the sudden grip and about throw you through the dash.

Service Brakes problem #3

Vehicle has an issue with braking system. When attempting to stop, the brake pedal required much more force to be applied that subsequently increased stopping distance. Safety to operator and/or others is at great risk due to extended stopping distances. The condition has not been confirmed by the dealer service department or independent service center. However, this condition occurred to the owner of the vehicle as well as the vehicle owner's son (that is in the auto industry as an insurance adjuster). The dealer only looked at the condition of the brake pads, calipers, and rotors. The dealer did not look into the hydraulic braking system or brake lines. (note: there is an open recall on many Ford Escapes, however, this particular vehicle identification number is outside the current recall notice. I believe they should investigate and/or expand the recall to add more vehicles due to our discovery) the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative or others. No odb codes or warning lights appeared on the dash information screen.

Service Brakes problem #4

While going on the highway it braked hard and displayed service stabilitrak light with traction control light flashing went away after 10 seconds. Then I pulled into my driveway and it snapped the wheel out of my hand forcefully almost breaking my wrist and wouldn't let me turn right. Towed it to Ford where they claim a loose battery terminal was present. No warning at all before this. Upper engine noise too (possibly pulley) 28k miles and trans is shifting hard as well. The trust for the vehicle is gone. I have a video as well of the steering wheel snapping.

Service Brakes problem #5

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the safety of my 2022 Ford Escape plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (phev), which I believe may have been rushed to market without sufficient development or reliability testing. As Ford’s first iteration of the Escape phev, it appears to suffer from multiple critical defects that suggest the technology was not fully ready for consumers. In less than 2. 5 years of ownership, I have experienced the following serious safety-related issues: the vehicle is currently under recall for a defective high-voltage battery, and there have been multiple other recalls related to the phev technology, raising serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the overall hybrid system. Nhtsa recall number 24v954. I experienced brake issues within the first 18 months of which have not been fixed and still making odd noises most alarmingly, the engine failed while I was driving on the highway with under 32,000 miles on the vehicle, causing a sudden and dangerous loss of power. This incident placed me and others at serious risk of harm. While the dealership did repair the engine under warranty, Ford has not offered any meaningful assistance beyond that, nor have they provided alternative transportation or a solution that addresses my ongoing safety concerns. Ford corporate has refused to communicate with me in writing and will only speak by phone, making it extremely difficult to document discussions, obtain clear answers, or hold them accountable for their responses. Due to a lack of support from Ford, I was forced to borrow my mother’s vehicle for two weeks while mine was being serviced, as there were 17 other customers on a waitlist for a loaner vehicle at the dealership. Despite these serious problems, I still don't have a vehicle and I no longer feel safe driving the car, and a financial burden, as I now owe more on the car than it is worth on trade-in. I have not picked up the car due to safety concerns. I believe these issues.

Service Brakes problem #24

Rear brakes squeak/moan when in reverse. The recent TSB from Ford states this is a recurring issue with Escape owners. My vehicle underwent the fix (which should have only taken 0. 70 hours, but took 3 hours on a scheduled appointment), only to get the vehicle back and the sound is even louder than it was before. Vehicle went back in for said concern. They installed a brake muffler piece to help muffle the noise. However, whatever was done has now made the brakes loose and the peddle needs to be pushed almost to the ground. So again, the fix isn't the actual fix. Lane departure and crossing almost caused an accident. It had rained and there were mud/gravel dust tracks on the road. The cameras thought it was the road line and swerved me multiple times into the oncoming lane. Needless to say, I stopped this feature on my vehicle for safety reasons.

Service Brakes problem #25

When I am braking while slowing down on an offramp, the brakes will disengage, then hurry and reengaged. Its only for a split second, but very scarry, this has happened 3 times. Then a few nights ago I was slowing down and had my foot on the brake very lightly, and the brakes caught and about threw me throw the windshield. I contacted Ford and they told me that since they cannot get it to duplicate it, they won't do anything for me.

Service Brakes problem #30

Purchased the SUV March 4, 2023. Within the first couple of days, when coming to a stop, backing out, slowing down the brakes makes this horrendous sound. Took it into the dealership and learned of the TSB of the rotors and brakes. They also changed my oil without my permission. Upon getting my SUV back within 2 days it continues with that horrendous noise backing out, slowing down, coming to a stop and stopping. Took it back again and they changed a rotor. The service department is closed on the weekends. Immediately upon getting my vehicle it does it again, but it was a Friday. This time, I take my SUV into the dealership and explain what it's doing. They have a tech take a ride. It makes a faint noise, of course, but he heard it. Now my vehicle the brakes are squealing so loud that you would think I would need new brake pads. My vehicle goes back into the dealership for the 3rd time on Thursday!the service department is absolutely clueless on how to fix this issue! absolutely clueless!.

Service Brakes problem #33

On November 12, 2022 at approximately 1:00 p. M. An incident occurred with my 2022 Ford Escape hybrid in columbia, mo. As I was parking in the forum theater parking lot, the engine surged and I had no brakes. I was at a dead stop and when I released the brake to move into a parking slot, the engine surged abruptly. When I applied the brakes, the pedal went clear to the floor with no braking occurring. I absolutely did not hit the wrong peddle causing this surging of power. As a result, the Escape jumped a curb and ran into a tree doing $14,000 damage. The airbags did not deploy nor did the seatbelts lock with the result of my granddaughters and I being thrust sharply forward. Currently the dealer, moberly motor company has no plans to notify Ford of this incident. The $14,000 repair bill is being borne by my insurance, shelter insurance. I have written Ford consumer relations but to date I have not had a response. My granddaughters and I were blessed that we were not physically injured seriously. However, we are all three having emotional/mental issues from the wreck. The only warning I had was the brakes squealed when I backed out of a parking place prior to the event. The vehicle is currently at moberly motor company in moberly, mo awaiting parts for repair.

Service Brakes problem #34

After having my car for 6 months it began making a terrible noise first thing in the morning when I back out and apply the brakes. It is a bad groaning/moaning noise. When I took it in for service to the dealer they said they could not replicate the problem. The noise continued and I took it again for its regular scheduled maintenance and was again told they could not replicate the noise and that they checked the brakes and everything is fine. It is not fine. . . I am waiting to the brakes to fail it sounds so bad.

Service Brakes problem #35

Extreme brake dust on both front wheels / rims. Concerned that brake pad friction lining was manufactured incorrectly, and worried about possible brake fade. Currently 4,800 miles on vehicle.

Service Brakes problem #36

The SUV when driving about 45 mph and go to place the brakes the car shakes and when you back up it is a real loud high shril sound took it to Ford and they wont return the car I can not take anymore I am tired I have had problems since I first purchase the Ford SUV I am disgusted fuel injections transmission back breaks problems I want to return the car please contact me [xxx] [xxx] note: they supposedly fixed the problems but there is still fuel injection leakages and transmissions and back brake assistance problems still to this day Ford has not fixed the problems and allowing me to drive on the road with a unsafe car and endangering others/children on the road back in 2020 there was a recall on this car and the dealership apparently did not fix the problems sold me this car 2022 July bad brakes, transmissions, fuel injections problems and seat belts for child are bad the car shakes one example in July 2023 the car suddenly stopped and shut off luckily I was slowing down at a red light I expressed this to the Ford dealership in falls church va and they just shrugged me off information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Service Brakes problem #37

The right rear brake area screeches loudly when I back up, even if I am not applying the brake. It happens at different times of the day, not just when I start the car. I have taken it in to be repaired twice and they tell me this is normal because the brakes charge the battery and this is the design. They said it happens when the brakes are wet in the morning. I park my car in the garage and every morning it screeches and does not appear to be a moisture issue. My car is new and began happening shortly after I brought it home. I think I am going to call and insist they replace them, as they are not able to repair them. I am concerned there is something wrong. Also, I don't use the adaptive cruise control, as it has accelerated and frightened me, as it tends to act on its own and may go over the speed limit. When I brake it will turn off, I just don't trust it. I think the controls aren't like other speed controls I have used and I maybe not be used to using them. I'm not sure. I had to put a tint on the front windows and a strip on the top of the windshield because it was clear and the sun came in so bright and would reflect off the dash, I was unable to see. The windshield is close to the steering wheel. When I bought the car the hood and door on the driver's side were not properly aligned. Again, they said this is normal. I had to have them repaired. I have never had so many problems with a new car. I am going to try to get the brakes fixed somehow and get something else.

Service Brakes problem #38

The overall braking performance on my new Escape has left me very concerned about the safety and dependability of my brakes. The brakes are unreasonably loud and down right startling, especially at low speeds. They often times feel, react, and sound as if they are wet; even when they are bone dry. My brakes will often times stop the vehicle abruptly and feel too grabby while making a loud noise. The brakes are also producing an excessive amount of brake dust on the wheels. I had my vehicle checked out by a Ford dealer, and they confirmed this is "normal" for this type of vehicle and that no fix is currently available. A simple internet search revealed many others who are experiencing the same problem. Something is really not right here.

Service Brakes problem #39

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving in reverse, the contact heard an abnormal sound emanating from the rear of the vehicle. After a visual inspection, the contact observed brake dust on the wheels. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a nondescript failure with the entire braking system that was causing abnormal wear on the brake pads. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 800.

Service Brakes problem #40

My incident report is a non accident report, I am trying to be proactive and report problems I’ve experienced with this vehicle since I purchased this vehicle 2 years ago. The vehicle has been problematic since I purchased brand new in 2022. I’ve been reporting this issue for two years and the mechanic has not been able to resolve the issues.

Service Brakes problem #41

When I try to stop from going different times and ways meaning I was on highway off ramp it starts to stop and then it feels like it stops stopping and tries to stop again it os scary each time is different and it does not happen all the time but it skips I had it many times they replaced parts and still doing it.

Service Brakes problem #42

1. Brakes been going on since we bought it new had in shop number of times still no fix but when we try to stop there is a surge at the end and makes us go still for a bit different length each time . . . 2. The blind spots will go on when nothing there.

Service Brakes problem #43

Powertrain malfunction/ reduce power. My safety was fine, it just gave me really bad anxiety when the the gears shift shifted on its own. The problem was finally fixed it started literally less than five days after I bought my car and I bought my car brand new it took the dealership almost 2 years to believe me on what was wrong with it then of course I try to get blamed when I showed them proof on my phone that it was popping up a different times in the last two years. Yes yes it started 3/27/22 - 2/01/24 now I feel like I’m having problems with my brakes sometimes I feel like I gotta press on my heart to get them to stop and then it’s like my car is delaying when it’s stopping. Yet I checked to see if my car had any new recalls and nothing’s coming up. The powertrain malfunction didn’t even come up as a recall yet I had Ford fix it.

Service Brakes problem #44

Since purchase, the car has made a loud squealing noise when applying brakes in reverse. Seems to take longer to come to a stop at times when applying brakes but other times jerks to a stop.

Service Brakes problem #45

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated he noticed excessive brake dust on the both front wheels. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact also called local dealer: bob poynter Ford (1873 e tipton st, seymour, in 47274: (812) 522-2040) and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7.

Service Brakes problem #46

There is an issue with the brakes and brake dust covers the wheel. The brakes have been squealing when pressed since the vehicle was leased. Each time I inquired at the dealership I was told it was because the brakes were new. Since they brakes continued to squeal after months, I asked service to look at them for me. They did, and said everything looked fine. As of now the front driver side wheel is completely covered in a black substance. Possibly brake dust and the brakes still squeal. I am concerned about the safety of my brakes. I took photos and sent them to my dealership today. This has been on ongoing problem since day one.
