Driver side door hinge broke, it’s making it difficult to open and close the door. It’s also making a loud noise when opening and closing the door.
This hasn't caused an accident or stranded me yet, but Ford won't do anything to help me avoid danger in the faulty vehicle they sold. There have been several recalls on my 2022 Ford Escape phev over the past year or so, including safety recalls. The number of recalls, requiring me to take the time to deal with scheduling, drop off/pickup the car, and being unable to use the car when it is in the shop for the recall rectifications seems excessive. Worse yet, they have safety related recalls from 2025 that still do not have a fix. I do not feel safe in my car. I went through the company's lemon recall process and they refused to repurchase the vehicle. People should expect a basic level of quality and definitely safety when buying a car. I will never buy another Ford and would never recommend that anyone else do so. This company no longer represents quality and they don't even care to try.
The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures over an extended period of time despite multiple repair attempts. After the most recent repair, which required the vehicle to be kept for approximately 10 days and included a battery replacement, the same electrical issue returned shortly after the vehicle was returned. The vehicle has previously stalled in traffic, creating a safety concern. In addition, the sunroof collapsed into the passenger compartment while a rear-seat passenger, who was a child, was present. A seat belt malfunction also occurred and required repair. Repairs have been attempted for these issues, but safety-related problems have continued. I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate, especially when transporting a child.
The power window on our 2022 Ford Escape will remain down after being rolled down and cannot be raised. This issue has occurred three separate times. When it happens, the vehicle cannot be secured and is exposed to weather and theft. The failure appears to be intermittent but recurring, indicating a possible design or electrical defect rather than misuse. This creates a safety and security risk, especially if the failure occurs while away from home or during bad weather. This problem has happened multiple times and is not resolved by normal operation of the window switch. Engine problems are occurring as well due to the stated recalls provided by NHTSA.
Driver door door check bracket separating from housing assembly. No wreck or accident with vehicle. May be the spot welds on the door bracket assembly which have, apparently, demonstrated issues for this year make model of Escape. I contacted the nearest Ford dealer with a body shop and they said they were unable to assist because there is no active recall.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 65 mph on a high windy day, the vehicle failed to resist the wind, was being pushed, and nearly became uncontrollable. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving on a high windy day, and the contact felt that the vehicle was hydroplaning. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving on a bridge. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle failed to resist a sudden wind gust and was pushed into another lane. The contact was able to immediately steer the vehicle back into the intended lane. The contact stated that the failure had recurred several times while driving on high and lower windy days, and the contact had noticed that the vehicle became easier to control upon decelerating. The contact stated that other passengers in the vehicle, including her young son and her husband had noticed the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that a Ford engineer would inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
Check arms spot welds on driver door completely gave out. My door is creaking popping. Door feels like its going to fall off. It literally happened from one day to the next.
The power window switches have a chrome trim piece that has cracked causing a severe cut hazard. This was an issue in 2020 models that was addressed but is still present in my 2022 model.
Hello, just as the drivers side door is suffering from poor welds, we believe the driver side door is well and suspect to all four doors. We are hearing rattling in the door when opening and closing. It definitely matches other descriptions of issue in the drivers door.
My vehicle has a broken spot weld visible on the driver's door near the hinge. This is becoming a more common problem with Escapes according to posts I'm reading on various forums.
Defective door check arm, took to Ford in April of 2024 and they have made no attempt to repair it.
The door stop arm detatched from the door body.
Panoramic sun shade detached from rails and recoiled into the assembly while driving on the highway. The shade was in a static position when it happened- it was not being retracted at the time. Available for inspection, but has already been repaired by dealer. A very loud cracking noise was heard when it happened, which startled me and could have caused an accident. It is a relatively new car and had been retracted probably a total of 20 times. There was no warning, and the entire headliner, pillars, and glass had to be removed to repair. It is apparently a common occurrence due to cheap plastic clips that are used.
The brackets in the driver side door are broken I’m passed the bumper to bumper warranty therefore Ford won’t cover it.
Driver's side door weld spots above and below the door check rod are broken. The door is not closing correctly. I'm afraid it's not going to stay closed while I'm driving. I took it to the local Ford dealer and they confirmed this. No warnings, it suddenly started making a terrible noise when I open or shut the door.
Drivers side door- the “door check/hinge” failed. Originally made several loud popping noises and then became hard to secure/shut. The same situation as the 2021 Ford Escape that I traded for the 2022 Escape. Drivers side door wouldn’t shut properly. Yes. No.
Paint is bubbling and popping for no reason. Issues have been seen on body panels and seals on inside of car where noting would touch it. Problem spots look like little volcanos or in some cases have already chipped away. Car has only been hand washed and waxed since owned. Application performance upgrade 22g08 may need to be expanded out to other colors as this one has discolored plastic panels as compared to metal panels and black base is also showing on nose through clear coat.
When I open my driver side door is clunks very bad. I took into dealer and was told the door check bracket has come unwelded they said that I can keep driving it in this condition until they can get it in to repair. But at first he was saying they would probably replace the door but now that isn’t happening. They are just going to repair it.
I have a foot operated lift gate and I constantly have to find the exact spot for it to open. Twice it lifted and while I was putting groceries in the back it came back down on me. The first time in smacked the back of my head and left a big knot. The second time it caught my shoulder and then I was able to get out of the way. I thought if the lift gate touched something coming down that it would go back up. It is a 2022 and does not even have 3000 miles on it. No I have not contacted the dealer. I have been extremely ill and it slipped my mind. Thank you very much for a quick reply.
We were driving and the front passenger door unexpectedly opened. Fortunately my wife was able to grab the door and pull it closed without incident.
I recently purchased a 2022 Ford Escape and during my first drive with it upon arriving home while unloading the trunk I felt a pain in my hand. I looked where I had place my hand to reach in the trunk and there was razor sharp metal. I contacted Ford and brought the car in to get it deburred and Ford refused to repair the issue telling me all Ford Escapes had the razor sharp metal and that is as it’s designed. They provided this response in writing. Please keep in mind the jut outs in the photos on the edge are razer sharp metal burrs from the sheet metal cutting process and not paint drip or other buildups on the metal.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the sun reflected on the metallic dashboard trim and obstructed the contact’s view while driving. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the vehicle was designed that way. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to the dealer and the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 0.
