The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission slipped out of gear while attempting to accelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
This hasn't caused an accident or stranded me yet, but Ford won't do anything to help me avoid danger in the faulty vehicle they sold. There have been several recalls on my 2022 Ford Escape phev over the past year or so, including safety recalls. The number of recalls, requiring me to take the time to deal with scheduling, drop off/pickup the car, and being unable to use the car when it is in the shop for the recall rectifications seems excessive. Worse yet, they have safety related recalls from 2025 that still do not have a fix. I do not feel safe in my car. I went through the company's lemon recall process and they refused to repurchase the vehicle. People should expect a basic level of quality and definitely safety when buying a car. I will never buy another Ford and would never recommend that anyone else do so. This company no longer represents quality and they don't even care to try.
A car started jerking erratically. I put it in, drive or reverse. And the light on the transmission selector would just blink on and off and it would not go in gear when it did finally go in gear. It would not shift out of fourth gear. We'll erratic transmission would not shift cars behind me had to hit their brakes. Because my vehicle would not move very dangerous. I took the vehicle in the Ford. They said it needs a transmission. I've got 65000 miles on this vehicle. It's 5000 miles past a warranty. Warning light did come on. My vehicle is now at an independent transmission shop and they say, I need a new transmission. I don't have the money to fix this. And Ford is wrong if we're not correcting it I will have the documents today. We're Ford, it would only give me a small $7000 trade in allowance. Because it needed a transmission. I will be receiving the paperwork from Ford and the paperwork from the transmission shop that has my vehicle. Thank you.
Will not shift into park. Code is p068a on reader. When it started not going into park, it started shifting really hard between 1st and 2nd gear. When came to a stop, tried to put the vehicle in park and it automatically put the parking brake on. When the shop looked up recalls, they told me Ford had issued a recall that may be related but put a 70,000 mile or 7 year limit on it. My vehicle meets the year limit but is over the mileage so Ford said they would not cover it.
While I was driving 65 mph I changed lanes and pressed the gas pedal to accelerate when the vehicle suddenly lost power and shifted to neutral. The check engine light came on. I was able to move the vehicle off the road avoiding an accident and turned the vehicle off for a few moments. I then restarted the vehicle and exited the highway at the next exit. The error code was checked with the check engine light on and it was p068a. The car was parked for the evening and the next day the check engine light was no longer on the dashboard upon restart. Scheduling the vehicle to be checked for issues.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 mph, the transmission experienced hard shifts and hesitated while shifting into the intended gear. The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerated while the rpms became elevated. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked while shifting into the intended gear and lost motive power. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road until the power train warning light turned off. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure recurred, causing the contact to pull over to the side of the road several times. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle later, the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound and failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic determined that the transmission was slipping and might need to be replaced. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. Several unknown dealers were contacted and provided estimates for the transmission replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
The transmission will not select the gear. The selector in the engine bay will not select the gear. The local dealership in cullman diagnosed it as the entire transmission and disclosed to us that they do not run diagnostics for specific parts, they replace the entire transmission at a cost of $9500.
When accelerating from approximately 25mph - 40mph and accelerating hard, the vehicle is shifting to neutral (hard). It feels like you hit a wall. Does not occur from stop. Letting off throttle and the transmission will reengage and allow full acceleration as if nothing happened. No warning indicators on dash. Is duplicatable. Vehicle had telematics control module update in December already. Vehicle had transmission replacement 25-June-2024 according to history. Tried reporting on gcr but would not permit. Sounds identical to 24s33 but this vehicle is unaffected. Will report to dealer when recall for 24s79 is available, avoiding hard acceleration if possible. May have dash camera footage if requested.
Vehicle enters into a conserve power warning and will not start. While operating the vehicle in drive vehicle will lose power and deactivate all safety and control features. Contacted Ford and no remedy or assistance will be provided.
First problem I have with my 2022 Ford Escape was the purge valve not sealing within the emissions system. Caused the check engine light to come on and struggle to start up after pumping gas. Ford dealer fixed it. Check engine light is still on, now it is saying that an O2 sensor is the cause of my check engine light. All of this is within the power train system of the 2022 Ford Escape which is causing the vehicle to read that it cannot pass and will fail an emissions test if it were to undergo one.
I own a 2022 Ford Escape plug-in hybrid, which is affected by recall 24s79 (NHTSA recall 24v954). This recall involves a high-voltage battery defect that could result in a fire or sudden loss of vehicle control while driving. Ford has confirmed that there is no fix available until at least the second quarter of 2025, leaving affected owners without a solution for well over a year. However, Ford refuses to provide loaner vehicles, rental reimbursement, or any safe alternative for customers forced to continue driving these potentially dangerous vehicles. I have contacted multiple dealerships (fort collins Ford and loveland Ford), and both confirmed that no loaner vehicles are available. Ford’s customer service continues to redirect me back to the dealership without resolution, despite the fact that my dealership has no assistance to offer. While I have not yet experienced a battery fire or loss of vehicle control, the recall documentation explicitly states that these are potential risks. It is only a matter of time before a fire or serious accident occurs due to Ford’s inaction. Ford is placing thousands of affected drivers at risk by failing to provide a fix, alternative transportation, or any safety plan for affected customers. I urge NHTSA to investigate Ford’s lack of action and failure to protect affected vehicle owners. Ford should be required to provide loaner vehicles or rental reimbursement until a remedy is available.
Transmission got stuck in 6th gear doing 80 miles per hour on the highway. Was unable to upshift or downshift. Had to switch driving modes for vehicle to begin downshifting. Also experienced getting stuck in certain gears and very rough shifting in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. No warning lights were presebt and according ti the dealer no codes were present on the transmission either. Components that failed included the torque converter, valve body, and clutch. Dealer confirmed that the transmission was having problems and rebuilt it under warranty at 48,000 miles. However I came in a 30,000 miles for recommended service as I was getting rough shifting and requested a flush and was told it was lifetime fluid for the 8 speed transmissions. At 48,000 it got stuck and almost caused accidents hence this report. Ally protect processed the insurance claim for what Ford refused to cover, only a small cost incurred on my part for the rental. Can provide more information as needed.
I think this is related to NHTSA recall 24v954. I experience loss of driving power at various times. This started about three months ago. It is intermittent. It used to be once or twice a week. Lately it is happening almost every day. Sometimes it is a minor annoyance, but sometimes it can result in a serious safety issue. When in electric mode, the car will suddenly lose driving power. Other power, such as radio, lights, etc. , are not affected. This is most common when the car is stopped, e. G. At a red light, or driving at low speeds, when the car is often in ev mode. For example, if I’m at a red light, when the light turns green I press the accelerator but they car doesn’t respond, no power. Or, if I’m driving at low speed in ev mode the car will suddenly lose power and glide to a stop. The only way to resolve this is to come to a full stop, turn off the car and then turn it on again. The reason I am writing is to reinforce that it can be a serious safety issue. I can give three examples. 1) January 15 I was driving in the right lane on an interstate highway, moving slowly due to congestion. I lost power and glided to a complete stop, in traffic. There was no shoulder. Cars were merging in and out of my lane to avoid me. I had to completely turn off the car and turn it on again. 2) January 22, while stopped at a red light, I pulled into the intersection when the light turned green, only to have the car die in the intersection. 3) January 22, same as example 2, but at a stop sign. The letter from Ford says there is no remedy yet, at least not until q2 of 2025, but they have not issued instructions to stop driving the vehicle. I believe that this safety issue is serious enough that a stop should be issued. I personally will not drive this vehicle until the repair can be made.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that upon arriving her destination, the vehicle failed to shift into park(p). The message "powertrain fault" was displayed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The “service powertrain” warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to manufacturer safety recall: 23s27. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 81,000.
Very strong smell of gas in my car , affecting me badly , got sick and threw up and took car in , and Ford changed my catalyst convertor among other things , no lights lit up for anything , the smell that was there is why I took it in and they kept the car until fixed and picked up , now I don’t feel safe , I have a 2022 Ford Escape 34000 miles and have had multiple serious recalls and very unsure of this car !.
April 2024 - while driving to work, I stopped at a stop sign. When I went to turn, the car went into neutral. I had to turn the car off and restart before I could change the gears. I took it to the dealer who stated they could not get the vehicle to replicate what happened and to keep eye on it. November 22, 2024 on my way home as I was exiting off the highway, the vehicle starting lunging then shifted into neutral on its own. I was able to stop and put it back into drive. When I tried to drive, it went back into neutral and started lunging forward. I could not get it back into drive but was able to go in neutral 5 mph and made it home. Once in the driveway, I tried to backup and it would not reverse. I turned off the vehicle and restarted it several times and was able to back up then drove straight to the dealer. They did a diagnostic and said the transmission needed replaced. This should not happen on a 2 year old vehicle. I noticed on your website 9 recalls for 2022 Ford Escapes. The only recall I received was for the doors. I took my vehicle in to have those fixed and those have been on backorder since April. My driver's side has only 1 hinge holding it on. I pray it doesn't fall off while driving.
I was driving down the interstate and came up on a wreck. When traffic started to move again my transmission wouldnt engage. The active cruise had quit working about 10 minutes prior.
The vehicle was being flat towed which had been set to neutral tow position, per Ford’s published procedure. After driving 5-7 miles from old orchard beach, me to foxboro, MA we stopped at a stoplight. We turned right after coming to a complete stop. The front wheels locked up. We traveled about 20 yards to safely avoid any traffic issues. The vehicle had reset the transmission to park. A set of tires on the front axle were flat spotted. The car was not running. The vehicle was dropped at a Ford dealer and the service technician informed me that there were several software updates that needed done including one to the gateway system that could have caused my problem.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly hesitated and was sluggish before returning to normal functionality. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 20,000.
I have a 2022 Ford Escape ecoboost I was going the freeway so put it on faster drive , push button it started to go then at maybe about 35 mph it jerked us all back and fourth my car gear went from drive to neutral and car lost power on the freeway ! I had my 12 years old nephew with me and my 77 years old mom who was jerked back and fourth ! thank god for seatbelts ! I don’t know what to do called Ford and have to take care in to see what could have caused this problem ! I hate the dealership I go to !and need to find a place that’s honest about what’s happening ! had to pull over and try to come off freeway . I live in CA , u dont get a police report unless there is a major accident or major hurt , cops don’t come for these kind of things . And it just happened again for the 2nd time , 1st time it happened about 1 year into owning the car , I thought maybe I did something wrong ! but now I know I didn’t , told Ford before but nothing was done about it.
In March 7: received vehicle alert from Ford pass , "warning message: service engine soon warning the power train control module has detected the engine timing chains exceeded 95% of their useful life and requires service now. The control system invokes a symptom of limited power" while I was driving in highway i5 at wa. The vehicle suddenly slow down itself and lost of acceleration. Took to the dealership ans they could not identified issue. Reset the code and returned the car back to me. In may same symptom happened again. Took to the dealership next day and the technician did see the issue since the service ranch icon was shown on the screen. The service advisor said they contacted Ford engineering to see how to fix but no result. They reset the code and I brought the car back while they are still waiting form Ford engineering.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle began to lose power. The contact stated that she received a notification from the Ford app that "there was a power train malfunction/reduction in power/4wd fault, contact authorized dealer". There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
When on the ev setting: battery charged by engine, gas and electrical smells are evident in the cabin. This first began in August 2023 at highway speeds and was reported the to the dealer during a pre trip inspection in sept 2023. Has been consistently increasing each time that ev mode is selected. Most recent occurrence was last week when driving in a residential area at a stoplight. Had to shut off vehicle when the smell became overwhelming. Reported to Ford and to dealer.
When parked and shut off the car rolled backwards about 6 inches when the door was opened. This happens when returning to the parked car and the door is opened from the outside. It has happened twice. It also happened once when being unplugged from the level 1 charging unit. The dealer was unhelpful, based on the infrequent nature of the incident and inability to reproduce it.
Vehicle was parked in driveway and popped out of park and rolled down the driveway out into the street. I park in the same spot everyday and this has never happened before. Occurred about 3 minutes after I got out of the car. The only thing unusual was I was driving in low gear before I parked instead of drive because of the snow, so I went straight from low to park which I would not normally do. My security camera recorded it happening but I cannot upload a video here.

The plastic coolant nipple mounted on the high voltage battery was damaged and the dealership has determined that coolant may have entered the high voltage battery. If coolant did (or could easily) enter the battery, this would be a significant fire hazard and could lead to significant injury or death. The damaged part has been confirmed by the dealership, no one can identify how the damage could have occurred and the least unlikely cause is that I contacted a small animal without knowledge. No noticeable signs of impact (including leftover fur or organic material has been found anywhere under the vehicle. No dents, dings or other damage has been found by myself, the insurance company or the dealership and the location of this damaged nipple is somewhat isolated such that there would need to be some other signs if a more rigid object was contacted. I have tried to reach out to Ford corporate for a more thorough review and discussion but have not yet been successful. No prior issues related to the battery issue existed prior to its failure. I have a unique background that I feel uniquely qualifies me to complete this review and would very much embrace an opportunity to further discuss my concerns to ensure a full evaluation is performed by the appropriate personnel. The automobile is still at the dealership and pending repair/replacement of the battery. Assuming the part was not damaged prior to my taking delivery (I purchased new) and if the damage was truly caused by a small animal, small enough to not crack, dent or leave a tuft of fur, then there is no doubt this design has a flaw with serious safety concerns. Under common conditions, this could lead to a battery fire and under realistic conditions this could lead to death. Metal shield to protect the hoses from deflection that could break nipple, redesign plastic nipple to more rigid material (metal). (other considerations, there is a defect in the molded nipple and a recall is in order).
Service engine soon light came on, and the car was very slow to get up to speed and it would no exceed 15mph. Took it to the dealership and it was initially discussed as a crankshaft sensors that needed cleaning but while cleaning it they notices metal pieces in the oil. I was "recommended" an oil change that I had to pay out of pocket. And that did not solve the issue. Took the car back to the dealer and as of right now they are looking into replacing the engine entirely. Sill no eta.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, an abnormal popping sound was coming from the vehicle with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that while in reverse(r), a loud humming sound was coming from the vehicle while stopped or while in motion. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and referred her to the NHTSA hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 8,000.
Check manual light with orange wrench popped up. I checked my Ford pass app and it said there was a high voltage fault. To contact a dealer immediately. But I can't even put it in neutral for a tow truck because the transmission is locked in some sort of safe mode. I think it is a part of the recall with high voltage battery failures.
