While backing out of my driveway, my power steering suddenly and completely went out. A dashboard light came on which read "power steering assist fault. " I drove to my Ford dealership and was told that my VIN was not on the recall list and the list was "VIN specific. " I was told by the dealership the part that needed replacement is the torque sensor which is one of the parts specifically mentioned in the recall for the 2009 escape. The NHTSA website called the recall 14s05. I have been told it will cost approx. $900. 00 to repair my vehicle.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2014

I was driving at a speed of approximately 45 mph and the throttle went out. I could not accelerate above 40 and was very slow to get to that speed. The engine was iddeling at a higher rpm than normal at stop lights. When driving up hill the speed was about 20 mph and there was no throttle to increase the speed at all. The yellow wrench ligh came on. Once I made it home and turned off the vehicle, my husband took it to get the codes pulled and the wrench light had gone off and it ran like normal. We could not get the codes pulled.
