Consumer was traveling about 25mph and upon approaching a top light, car started losing power. Then consumer tried to put it into drive and reverse, and it wouldn't do anything. There was transmission fluid on the ground. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. They told consumer that coolant line clamp came apart. Transmission fluid was three quarts low.

2 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 1998 Ford Escort

Failure Date: 10/11/1997

All the transmission fluid leaked out after driving car for 2 days. Dealership insisted only lose clamp, trans ok. On 4/30/00 began having trouble with 1st gear. Had to have complete overhaul of transmission.
