While driving car, the vehicle stopped pulling. When checked, I was told by the inspector that the clutches in the transmission were burnt out. He told me it would cost $27oo to repair. I contacted Ford about the extended warranty I purchased on the car was no good because I surpassed the mileage. What they didn't tell me was that the car is initially covered for the first 100,000 miles and the extra warranty I purchased was to give me an extension of 60, 000 miles or whichever comes first. I feel as though Ford should replace my transmission at no cost to me because the life of the transmission should be longer than it lasted. I have even finished paying for the car yet.
Vehicle had less than a year when a metalic knocking noise started from the engine. The lifters & other parts has been replaced several times since the begining of the year 2000. Car still has the noise after many attempts to correct the problem and the Ford International still does not want to claim the vehicle a defect. The second band of the transmision broke into many parts and the technition of bayamon Ford said it was the first time he had seen this on this type of vehicle. He has seen this in explorer & expeditions, but not on Ford Escorts. Bayamon Ford nor auto vega has been able to fix this this problem in more than a year. I also would like to add that another recurring problem in this car is that the headlight socket keeps melting. This is a fire hazzard and it is a recurring problem after replacement of headlight fixture. I noticed that the negative wire is thinner than both of the positive wires, thus causing the over heating & causing it to melt. Another recurring problem is that about every 6 months I have to take the car to the dealer to replace the front struts because they are shot. I would like to get a technition to properly do its job and not to put myself or other people in danger because he/she does not want to blow the whistle on a problem.
Consumer was getting ready to make a left hand turn and parts of the transmission started to fall off. Consumer could hear the parts falling off, and car stopped. Vehicle had to be towed . Mechanic told consumer that it was parts of the transmission that fell off.

Not only was my rebate check stolen by someone working at the dealership but I have complained so many times since purchasing my car. I believe that I 've been given the run around because I've just past qualifying for California's lemon law. My car is unsafe it rolls back on hills and now it won't go into park. I've had problems since buying the car. No safety defect.
While driving at 45 mph downshifted to second gear and was making a right, lost control of vehicle. Consumer had no brakes/no powersteering, and vehicle went across on the other side of the road about 137 feet and end up on the passenger's side.
Car was towed to local station as dealer could not find the problem. We understand that we purchase one of the last selector shaft assembly shifters available. Total cost: $349. 00.
Automatic transmission will not downshift to change gears once it has warmed up a bit. Has taken vehicle to dealer & it was test driven for over a week. Mechanic could not find cause of non downshifting.

I was driving the car on July 15th and stopped at the red light before crossing the tracks and when the light turned green I attempted to go forward and the car would not go forward. I flagged the people behind me to back up and I couldn't go backwards. I panicked because it was early morning rush hour and my 5 year old daughter was with me but after a couple of minutes the car slowly went forward. I called service and made the appointment to take the car in on July 22 which was the earliest they could get me in. On the morning I went to take the car in I was driving down the street at 30 miles per hour and the car started to slow down and I looked at the dashboard and realized that the indicator lights were all on. Fortunately I was able to pull over and had my fiance' with me. I took the car in and needless to say it took two weeks to get a replacement transmission which they said would be brand new and on the receipt it says reman transmission and that there was also a leak at the emv valve which the.
Backing out of driveway and looking in the mirror to see if any one was coming, all of a sudden vehicle flew forward and hit fence. Then wheels turned to the right, missing the telepole. Vehicle ended up hitting trees and stopped. Air bag did not deploy. Had seat belt on.
Soda spilled on red gear shift release button, preventing gears from engaging when button is depressed.
While driving on highway without warning vehicle will completely shut down, cause unknown. The dealer had replaced the transmission twice.
Fuel guage fails to register the correct amount of fuel. Also, transmission would jump/jerk forward if placed into gear. Whenever the brakes are applied, the transmission would jerk. Whenever the car is shifted into gear it jumps forward, and then back out of gear again. Dealer says it needs new transmission.
Vehicle can be put into gears without applying brakes, also, at times gears will not release from park position, cause unknown. Dealer cannot identify the problem. Please give any further details.
